Homeschool

I have been a part of the homeschool community, in one way or another, for almost 17 years. My oldest was in First Grade when I started teaching for a homeschool enrichment program with a private school.

I was with that program for 8 years, and my son also spent a few years attending that program. He, as well as his next two siblings, also attended a public school homeschool program for a couple of years.

While we have done the public school system and had many positive years, we ultimately decided to pull all of our kids from that system and homeschool. My oldest did attend a public school for a few years, then did running start with a local university, and earned his college diploma at the age of 20.

Toxin Free Living

This is something that became very important to me about six years ago when I went through some skin issues while using, that I thought were, natural products. Over these past years I have come to see that the products here in America do not have to be transparent about their ingredients, which leaves us, the consumer, at their mercy. It is up to us to do the extra work to find out what is actually in them. I am not willing to trust them, nor am I willing to track down all the ingredients.

Instead I have found companies that are as picky as I am about their ingredients, have transparency, and go above and beyond when it comes to the quality of the ingredients they use in their products. The main company I use is an essential oil company that is the largest and most transparent company I have ever worked with. I use many of their premade products, as well as lots of their supplements, and then, of course, all of their essential oils—which I use in a variety of ways.

Our skin absorbs everyone we put on it. It is so important that we are not putting cheap, processed, and dangerous things on our skin—what goes on, goes in. We are bombarded with sickness, autoimmune diseases, and ailments of all kinds. If I can help point you to products that are safe, then I have done my job.

Hand Built Projects

These types of projects are somewhat new to me. In the past 16 years that I’ve been a mother I have found myself putting my desires and things that I love to do on the back burner.

There are a few things I pull out from time to time—knitting, taking time to write, but one thing that I’ve always kept Pinterest boards of, and find myself searching for when I’m relaxing, is hand build projects.

I am excited to start this new journey of doing something I LOVE! My kids will also be a part of this as I will help them build things for themselves as well. Beds, desks, bookshelves, and tables are just a few of the items on the list.

Random Tidbits

~I grew up in Eastern Washington, among the “Amber Waves of Grain.”

~My high school graduating class had 18 people.

~I attended college in Iowa for two years, then lived and worked in Boothbay Harbor, Maine for 6 months.

~Before graduating with a degree in Elementary Education, I studied abroad in Swansea, Wales, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

~My husband and I have moved 13 times in our 17 years of marriage. We've encountered floods and fire.
