Essential Oils to Promote Better Sleep
The more people I talk to about how they want better health, the more I hear about poor quality of sleep.  As a mom of 3 teenagers, my mantra for the last 7 years of teenager-hood has been "Go to bed.  You need your rest".  And its so true!  Without the rest our bodies are begging us for, we have trouble focusing on our work, managing our emotions, and staying healthy.

So what is one to do when they have difficulty sleeping when they finally crawl into bed?  Aside from the usual things to avoid before bedtime (caffeine, sugar, TV and other screens), I have found some really nice ways to get myself to relax and actually sleep soundly through the night.  I start with my usual bedtime routine which always includes a hot bath, and of course I love using my essential oils for better rest.  My favorite combination of oils is lavender and cedarwood.  Some nights, especially during the dry winter months, I put a drop of each oil in my bedside diffuser, switch it on, and let it run until it is empty.  The cool air mist diffuser makes the room smell lovely and also takes much of the dryness out of the room.  Other nights, when I'm feeling especially lazy, I take a premade roller bottle of essential oils and carrier oil, and run it along the bottom of my foot and under my toes.  To make this roller, I put the essential oil drops in a 10ml roller bottle (8 drops lavender, and 8 drops cedarwood) and I fill the rest of the bottle with grapeseed or coconut oil.    Within the next 15-20 minutes, I'm out.  Every night.  Without fail.  If I am woken for some reason, I can reapply this mixture at any point in the night and get back to sleep once more.  I never wake up drowsy or out of sorts.

Other oils to try to promote better sleep are:  frankincense, stress away, or lavender (from the starter kit), or RutaVaLa, Peace and Calming, Tranquil or marjoram.

If you have difficulty either getting to sleep or staying asleep, give it a try!

If you need help getting started, either with a starter kit or with a sleep roller, just reach out to me!  I'd love to hook you up.
