A DIY you have time for!

To think that this is my first blog post, and I don't even have a picture for it.  It's a video I did a few months ago, but honestly it's my favorite DIY recipe.  It's probably the first DIY cleaner I made and haven't gone back since.  It really is a good alternative to what's on the market.

I won't go into the names of the brands that I have tried, but I will tell you they didn't work.  At least not for the entire shower and not with the level of cleaning I need.  You see, I don't clean often enough, so my shower always needs a really good cleaning when I decide to finally do it.  This recipe will work on the whole thing, including the glass.  It takes about 2 minutes to mix up, the recipe is foolproof , and once you have the ingredients for it, you can make it for an entire year.

And, this recipe is safe, and won't make you light headed while cleaning.  That's a big one for me.  If it is too harsh for my skin or for me to inhale, it certainly isn't good for the largest organ in my body (Yup, that's your skin) to be absorbing it in.  There are over 80,000 synthetic chemicals manufactured in the U.S. and only 200 of them have been tested under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976.  I don't know how you feel about that, but I'm thinking that's A LOT of unregulated substances with unknown affects on our bodies.

If you are wondering why that matters at all, here is the quickest way that I can explain it.
With our skin acting as our largest organ coupled with inhalation and ingestion we have a lot of entrances for toxic substances into our body. And reaching high levels of toxic sub stance should be a great concern. These substances interact with our endocrine systems by way of our glands and hormones. These disruptions can show up in the form of increased estrogen, hot flashes,  hormone balance, sperm count, immunity, autoimmune response, precocious puberty and more.

When I first heard about this, I was so upset.  What I just explained above, barely scratches the surface of the scope of this problem. I can't sit back and not do or say anything any more.  I want to help improve the health of my family and others as well.

This recipe is the first 'keeper' in my book.
I can't wait to hear how it works for you!

2 TBSP of baking soda (add a little more for a thicker consistency)
2-3 TBSP of Thieves Dish Soap
6-10 Drops Young Living Lemon Essential Oil
2 capfuls (aproximately 2 TBSP) Thieves Cleaner
Stir Together in Glass container.  Get shower wet, then apply to all surfaces and scrub.  Let sit for 10 minutes, scrub any additional spots, then rinse.
