How To Get More Stuff Done

There’s just not enough hours in the day to get everything done that needs to get done!

Does that phrase sound familiar?

I have said that to myself more times than I can count. I have a million things that I need to do, want to do, should do, but before I know it, it’s time for bed and many of those well-intentioned plans are still left undone.

So what can a girl do? Just keep plodding along, wondering why she’s not getting ahead? Why her books aren’t finished? Why she didn’t work out AGAIN?

I’ve found the secret!

Get up early! And when I say early, I mean I’ve started getting up at 4:00 am!

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Are you crazy?”

My husband said the same thing to me when I told him I was setting my alarm for 4:00 am last week.

He looked at me like I had lost my mind and said, “Four? As in FOUR IN THE MORNING????”

Yes and you know what? I’ve been doing so for over a week and it’s going GREAT!

What am I doing at four in the morning and what gave me the idea?

One of the Royal Crown Diamonds with Young Living recommended a book called The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I put it on my Amazon Wish List and forgot about it for a few weeks. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to add it to my cart and am I glad I did!

This book has been an eye opener for me.

I’m not sure if I mentioned this in a previous blog post or not, but shortly after we made the decision to homeschool my youngest son, his older brother asked if he could also be homeschooled. We agreed and I am now homeschooling both boys, which means less time for me to get the things done during the day.

Less time to workout. Less time to write. Less time to work.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE having my boys home with me. I love being able to do this for them. However, those lost hours needed to be made up somewhere. But where?

This book had the answer.

For the past week and a half, I have been getting up at 4, reading my bible, praying, journaling, saying my affirmations and doing yoga. In order for me to be able to roll out of bed and get to work right away, I made a routine for myself for the previous night which includes the following:

– Laying out my workout clothes for the next day
– Having the coffee maker ready to go so all that is needed is a push of the button
– Having the dog’s food bowls filled and ready to be set down
– Supplements already bagged and ready to be taken along with my first bottle of water for the day
– Kitchen cleaned
– Boy’s homeschool assignments written out and set up for the next morning

This way, everything is ready to start off my day as soon as I get downstairs. No distractions.

Most of the family doesn’t get up until 6, which gives me 2 solid hours of alone time.

What is happiness? What is it that makes a person happy or unhappy? 

We’ve all known people that no matter what is going on in their lives, they can find something positive to focus on. Thankfully, because of my faith, I tend to be one of those people!

Likewise, there are others that no matter what good is in their lives, they find something to be unhappy about and complain. They are never happy.

Happiness, my friends, is a choice. You can choose to be happy or unhappy. You can choose to focus on the positive things in your life, or the negative. 

Is it always easy? I’d be lying if I said it was. I have had times in my life where my family’s situation was dire. However, during those times, I prayed and asked God to help us and you know what? He always does. Always. No matter how bad things looked at the time, I trusted that He would bring us through and He did.

I was recently doing a temp job before the holidays to make some extra money and as I would drive to and from work, I was listening to the audible version of “Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude.”

I’ve read that book more times than I can count and I’ve now listened through it twice during my commute. 

In it, they mention having your talisman pointed to PMA or NMA. What are PMA and NMA? A Positive Mental Attitude and a Negative Mental Attitude. It is your choice which way you want that talisman to point and the authors give great examples as to how your choices direct your life.

Another book that I have read more times than I could possibly count is “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. As a matter of fact, I’m reading it again right now. 

I always want to encourage you to look for the good in your life, have a purpose and follow that purpose wherever it may lead. 

You only get one life. You should live it with a grateful and abundant heart doing what makes you happy.

Why Every Woman Should Start Her Own Business NOW!

Yes, I said it. You need to start your own business. Now.

Not someday. Not later this year. Not next month, next week or tomorrow.

Now.

Why now? Because when you put things off, you will procrastinate and find an excuse not to do it.

I cannot remember where I read this (because I'm reading leadership and self-help books all the time!), but I think it was from John C. Maxwell who said, "Do it now!" Whenever a thought pops into your head like, "I should work out." Don't put it off, just do it. Do it now.

I may have blogged about this before, however, I think this is so important for so many women. Maybe you're a stay-at-home mom and everything is going great. Your husband has a great job and makes plenty of money to support your family. I think that's wonderful!

But what happens if he comes home tonight and says his company is downsizing and he's been let go? Could you maintain your lifestyle, your mortgage, your groceries, your kids' activities, school, etc.? For how long?

What if your husband came home tonight and said he'd met someone else and wants a divorce? Don't think it could happen to you? More than 50% of all marriages end in divorce. It CAN happen to you. It's probably happened to one or more of your friends.

As we are still in the throes of COVID-19 and the effects it's having on the economy, I am even more passionate about this subject.

This message isn't just for the stay-at-home moms out there. If you're a two income family, odds are it's because you need both incomes to maintain your lifestyle. What happens if one or both of you lost your job? It's happened to a friend of mine and trust me when I tell you, it's tragic.

You need to set up another source of income for yourself. You need to take care of yourself and your family. That starts at home with a business you can build part-time.

You can build a business part-time, but when I say that, I don't mean build your business part-of-the-time. I mean you should make a consistent effort, day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year growing yourself and your business to build a strong foundation for success.

I think there are a lot of great opportunities out there. Find one that excites you and makes you want to run out and tell everyone about it!

Do your research and get started on building your business today.

You can make it work for you. But it will take work, dedication and not quitting.

There are no overnight successes. No get rich quick schemes.

The Secret To Great Skin


“You have great skin!”

Isn’t that something we all want to hear? I always thought I had okay skin, but not great skin. I had to wear foundation to cover up spots and blemishes to give the appearance of great skin.

But then I read a post on Facebook which said you could use virgin organic coconut oil to clean and moisturize your skin. I had it in my pantry, so I figured, “Why not?”

I started scooping about a tablespoon and rubbing it all over my fully-made-up face and neck. I then took a warm wet washcloth and wiped it off. And you know what? Every speck of make-up was gone. And my skin didn’t feel tight and dry like it did when I washed it with soap.

I then put about 1/2 teaspoon in my hands to moisturize my face and neck before I went to bed. I noticed a definite improvement in my skin when I did this, so I continued.

That said, it wasn’t until I started adding 3 drops of Frankincense essential oil in my coconut oil moisturizing routine that the compliments started. At first, it was the occasional stranger making the comment, “You have nice skin.” Then, one day as I was getting ready to go out and put on foundation, I realized I didn’t need foundation!

I stopped using the foundation and just applied some mineral powder, blush, lip gloss and eye makeup. After about a month of using the homemade Frankincense moisturizer, the compliments changed from “You have nice skin” to “You have really great skin, what do you use?” Honestly, a day does not go by that I don’t have someone say something about my skin and want to know what I do.

I'm in my late 50's and when people find this out, they are stunned. Most think I am at least 10 years younger, which is great! I’ve had no collagen, no Botox or fillers, no cosmetic procedures at all and absolutely no filters or retouching was done to my photo. I don’t think I look too bad for my age!  This is what a healthy lifestyle and natural products can do for you!

Remember, not any Frankincense will do. All essential oils are not the same and you should do your research.
