NEW YEAR, NEW YOU...

In January 2014, I attended an all-day seminar with my dad called, the 48 Day Transformation and it was hosted by Dr. Menzel, the Naturopath I had an appointment with the following month. The seminar was centered around the 7 teachings in her book, The Transformation: 48 days to Eating + Living Naturally for Life, which I highly recommend.

It was such a wonderful event, and I was happy to share that day with my dad learning how we can build a stronger foundation of health and be more mindful of our wellness goals.

Finally, the day had arrived, and it was time for my appointment to see Dr. Menzel. Let me start by saying this was the first time I’d ever been to a doctor's appointment where I was in the doctor’s actual office longer than the waiting room! Ever.

We had a lengthy first visit.
She asked me questions about my mom’s pregnancy, my birth, how my health was as a baby + child, through my teens, and into adulthood. She was kind, comforting, and very thorough.

She conducted biofeedback testing which helps reveal the source of various health problems and assists to identify nutrients and nourishment the body needs to help heal itself as well as identifies food/environmental sensitivities. Super cool software.

And wouldn’t you know, during the sensitivity scan, it determined that I 100% had a sensitivity to GLUTEN. It was also 100% positive for wheat, rye, and barley.

Wow. I couldn’t believe it!

I knew I had an allergy to pine nuts (I learned that the hard way while on a business trip to Indiana), so we tested for that as well, and sure enough, pine nuts were 100% positive too. I knew her test was legit, lol.

EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN

During our appointment, we discussed her experience in assisting other women who struggled with infertility and how she successfully helped them conceive. She suggested I wait at least 6 months before actively trying to get pregnant so we could focus on healing my body to increase my chances of a healthy pregnancy.

And before I left that appointment, she created a plan of action that I started following that very day. I was immensely grateful for her. I left there feeling empowered AND full of so much hope.

While I was there, I also received a detox foot bath (infused with essential oils) and was served a plate of organic apples, goat cheese, nuts, yogurt, gluten-free crackers, and mineral water all while reading about my life’s number (26/8) from the fascinating book, The Life You Were Born to Live: A Guide to Finding Your Life’s Purpose.

Honestly, the detox foot bath with the side of a healthy snack was such an added bonus. I had never received this kind of treatment before while visiting a healthcare professional.

Anyway, it was a memorable experience.
If you are interested in my personal plan of action... it is available for download here.

Let me pop in a quick disclaimer, I am not a medical professional and the information that I am sharing is for education purposes only and hopefully serves as a foundational starting point or initiates some additional research on your part so you can discuss alternative options with your doctor.
