On March 7, 2019 I went for my 37 week OB check-up in the morning and then decided to go shopping for candles and air fresheners on my way home. I wanted my house to smell fresh for visitors after the baby was born. As I was pulling into my driveway, my neighbor Merrliee stopped by and asked me, "When are you going to have that baby already?" Then all of the sudden my phone rang it was the doctor's office. Apparently I was in labor and needed to get to the hospital right away. My test results from my visit earlier that morning indicated that I was leaking amniotic fluid, however my water had not ruptured yet so I wasn't really feeling any contractions or discomfort.
My neighbor ran across the street to her house and came back with a bottle of
Gentle Baby essential oil, she handed it to me and said, "You are going to need this bottle of calming magic for you and the baby." I put it in my hospital bag along with my
Lavender Essential Oil. When I arrived at the hospital I opened my Lavender Essential Oil and Gentle Baby bottles, put a few drops on my wrist and took a deep breath. I felt calm and reassured that everything was going to be ok. I delivered a healthy baby girl with no complications. Looking back now, my neighbor was in the right place at the right time because her generous gift has changed my life.

Bringing my newborn baby home from the hospital I wanted to protect her and ensure that I wasn't exposing her to hazardous things that could harm her. Soon I began to realize those new air fresheners that I had just bought were one of the most toxic environmental hazards I could have in my home and harmful to not just the baby but all of us. I knew we would be having visitors and wanted my house to smell fresh however not at the risk of compromising the health of our family. Shane's Mom, Denise, generously shared with me to an all natural way to keep our home fresh with a diffuser and essential oils.
I have spent months researching the safety of essential oils, especially related to oils and babies. YL is the only one company that has gained my trust because they hold a standard to testing their products and the products are quality, pure, all natural. Many of the essential oils you can buy at the grocery store or online are not 100% therapeutic grade, meaning they could be synthetically or chemically altered, which can be potentially toxic. My goal is to share with all Mothers, or soon-to-be Mothers the resources that have helped me as a new Mom for providing the best care for my child. After receiving approval from my daughter's pediatrician, I began using a small amount of Gentle Baby or Seedlings-Calm Essential Oil Blend on the bottom of her feet if she was fussy at bedtime. My daughter would easily stop crying and quickly fall asleep. Thankfully our family has not suffered many nights of lost sleep. Both Gentle Baby and
Seedlings-Calm are made for use on babies and the bonus is that I love to use them as well!
Another method I frequently use with these essential oils is diffusing them in her nursery. The oils smell amazing when diffused in the Feather Owl Diffuser
listed below. I highly recommend this product for any nursery because it is a diffuser, also a humidifier, night-light, and white-noise machine all in one!

Essential oils are natural products that have saved our family from sleepless nights by providing a natural remedy that supports calming for all of us. My own Mother has noticed how well my baby sleeps and has been the person to encourage me to continue to share with others.
***Always consult with your health-care provider first before starting the use of oils for yourself or child. My journey is my own personal experience and your experience could be different. Please be aware that not all essential oils are safe around babies therefore it is highly important to do your own research.
