(Winter Wellness for Children) Three Easy Tips for a Healthy Throat
This past several days, I got messages from many moms asking me for the best natural remedies to help with scratchy throat and throat irritation. Yes, it is winter time and it's that time of the year when colds, flu, and coughs are common. It is very important that we as parents have habits and tools in place to keep our children healthy. In this blog, I am sharing these three easy tips for a healthy throat! I hope you will find these recipes helpful in promoting Winter Wellness in your family this season.

Healthy Throat Drink
This drink is soothing to the throat and tastes so good. It is very easy to prepare and your kids will love it. Offer to your children three years and older.

4 ounces hot water
1 Tbsp raw local honey
2 drops Lemon essential oil
2 drops Orange essential oil
juice of 1 lemon

Mix all ingredients in a glass jar with a tight lid. Let the drink cool down, then give it to your child to sip, 1 ounce at a time or as needed.

Throat Rub
When I was little, my mom would apply a soothing rub on my chest and throat, to help me breathe better. This is my all-natural DIY version. This works so well and smells so good.

4 drops Tea Tree essential oil
2 drops Lemon essential oil
5 drops Peppermint essential oil
4 drops Thyme essential oil
5 drops Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil
2 ounces Coconut oil

Melt coconut oil and add to a glass jar. Add all essential oils and mix well to blend all ingredients. Cover jar in a tight lid and place in the refrigerator to solidify. To use, apply to throat and chest area as needed.

Tips:
* For children two years and below, omit Peppermint and Thyme essential oil, and replace it with 5 drops of Lavender essential oil.
* If you are not the  coconut oil type, you can just use almond oil. If using almond oil, use a dropper bottle instead of a glass jar.

Breathe Easy Diffuser Blend
Having a diffuser in your home is one of the most helpful thing a parent can have to support their children's wellness. This recipe is a great blend to diffuse at bedtime.

2 drops Lemon essential oil
2 drops Lavender essential oil
2 drops Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil

Diffuse at bedtime for about 30 minutes to one hour.

Tips:
* You can turn this into a Room Spray by adding three times the amount of essential oils to a 2-ounce spray bottle. Then add 1 oz of Witch Hazel and fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water. Spray in the room as needed.
* RC essential oil blend is another great oil to diffuse at night for easy breathing.
