Gaps In Your Nutrition? Fill Them With YL Supplements!

Gaps In Your Nutrition? Fill Them With YL Supplements!
No matter how hard we try, sometimes our diets are compromised. Busy schedules and life get in the way. We try to eat healthy and do right by our families, but let's be honest, when we pick up the kiddos from school,  swing by the house long enough to pick up their sports equipment & our chairs, then run by some fast food joint so that they can eat before their game (or go to the game and eat afterward) our nutrition suffers. Nutrition is key to all body systems, not just our digestive system!

Young Living has so many supplements to offer, not just for nutrition. We offer several different categories of supplements: foundation (core), cleansing, and targeted. Walk with me on this journey as we discover some of the supplements Young Living offers.....

Foundation Nutrition

Gut health is so important! As some of you may know our gut is our largest immune organ (according to the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, our gut has the surface area equivalent to that  of a small studio apartment!!! About 100-130 square feet!!). Because of this, it is important to realize that if we keep the flora in our gut healthy, we tend to stay above the wellness line.
Young Living has an adult probiotic called Life 9. Life 9 contains 17 billion active cultures from nine beneficial bacteria strains. It helps promote healthy digestion, supports gut health, and helps maintain normal intestinal function for the overall support of a healthy immune system.*
We also now have a kid's line prebiotic and probiotic in one!! Kid's Scents MightyPro is a supplement formulated specifically for kids that contains over 8 billion active, live cultures to support digestive and immune health.* This supplement is packaged in convenient on-the-go singles, so you can take them anywhere! The flavor is Wolfberry punch, and for real, they taste like a Pixie Stix (but they're good for you!). While formulated for kids, they're great for adults, as well!
Young Living has other supplements like, multivitamins (Master Formula and Kid Scents MightyZyme), B vitamins (Super B), vitamin C (Super C), heart healthy supplements like OmegaGize and NingXia Red, but one of my family's favorites is Inner Defense. Inner Defense promotes healthy respiratory function and is infused with immune supporting essential oils like oregano, thyme and Thieves. We take Inner Defense during the Fall and Winter seasons to help boost our immune systems and keep us above the wellness line!
Young Living also has many other supplements that fall in the Foundation Nutrition category and you can check those out here.

Cleansing  Nutrition

This category of supplements has many that are great for, well, as the name says "cleansing".  There is the Cleansing Trio, which consists of 3 YL supplements, EssentialZyme, ComforTone, and ICP.  This Cleansing Trio will help your body eliminate waste by specifically supporting normal liver function.*
MultiGreens is also another great supplement for cleansing. MultiGreens is designed to boost vitality by working with the glandular, nervous, and circulatory systems.*  It contains spirulina, alfalfa sprouts, barley grass, bee pollen, eleuthero, Pacific kelp, and therapeutic-grade essential oils.
It is recommended to do a cleanse in the Fall and Spring to keep your body functioning optimally. Check out the rest of the Cleansing Nutrition category here.

Targeted Nutrition

There are many supplements in this category that I LOVE!!! These supplements are more targeted to a specific body system than those of of the Foundation Nutrition category (they are more for overall wellness).
Like, AgilEase, for example, is great support for your joints!! It is beneficial for athletes and great for elderly to help with greater mobility and flexibility.
AminoWise. Wow, what can I say about AminoWise? If you workout you will want to try out this supplement!!! AminoWise is a triple-targeted supplement, combining YL's Muscle Performance blend (which aids muscle building and repair), the Recovery blend (helps reduce muscle fatigue), and the Hydration Mineral blend (replenishes important minerals lost during exercise). Use AminoWise during and after your workout to optimize your workout recovery.
EndoGize and Femigen both provide great support for the endocrine system in women. Prostate Health, formulated uniquely for men to support the male glandular system and healthy, normal prostate function.
The thyroid gland regulates body metabolism, energy and body temperature.  Thyromin is a supplement that supports healthy thyroid function through the use of porcine glandular extracts, herbs, amino acids, minerals, and therapeutic-grade essential oils.
While there are more supplements in this category than I have space to mention, you can go explore them on your own here.

There are so many awesome Young Living  supplements to help fill our nutritional gaps that if I listed or talked about them all, I could almost write a novel!!  Just click on any of the green links and explore the wonderful world of Young Living nutrition for yourself!

Ready for Fall? We are!!

Ready for Fall? We are!!
I love Fall!! I love everything about it- sitting outside with my family around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows for s'mores, the crisp air,  just the "scent" of Fall. I can't explain it, but you know what I mean, there is a different scent when Fall rolls around!!
Also, with Fall comes more issues to combat our health. Our family tries to stay above the wellness line during this season by boosting our Immune systems. Young Living offers many oils and supplements to help with this-- here are a few of my favorite products and ways we use them.....

1). Diffusing oils: Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils are very beneficial to our bodies (and it makes your house smell amazing!). Inhaling TGEOs activates the limbic portion of your brain, which houses memory and emotion. This is why when we smell an aroma it can bring back a flood of memories. Many Fall memories are associated with the 'Pumpkin Spice' aroma. Please enjoy this Pumpkin Spice diffuser blend recipe.

Pumpkin Spice

Fill diffuser to fill line with distilled water and add oils! Enjoy.....happy Fall, y'all!

2). Supplements: While Young Living offers many supplements that are targeted for certain body systems, there are also a few we use during the Fall to support overall wellness. My favorites are Inner Defense, a supplement infused with Young Living's Thieves blend and Oregano, which are both powerful components in giving our Immune systems a little extra umph! We also like NingXia Red, a superfruit antioxidant juice that is loaded with goodness and infused with TGEOs. This juice supplement has great detoxifying properties to help flush your liver and kidneys. Here is an awesome, detoxifying  "Red Drink" recipe from Dr. Peter Minke .

3). Topical application of essential oils: Our family applies the oils topically for added support. Some of the oils we use are considered "hot oils" because they can create a burning sensation on sensitive skin or new oilers who are not used to using them yet. For these types of people I recommend going ahead and diluting the essential oil with a carrier oil. Some oils that are considered hot are Oregano, Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Lemongrass, Panaway, and Wintergreen. While this is not an exhaustive list, it is a list of our most commonly used "Fall Oils".  I ALWAYS recommend diluting when using oils on babies, children or elderly. Please enjoy the recipe below for Immune boosting support during the Fall and Winter season.

Immune Booster Roll-on
10 drops Young Living Thieves vitality essential oil
10 drops Young Living Lemon vitality essential oil
V6 vegetable Oil or Almond oil
10 ml Glass Roll-on bottle

Instructions:
Add all essential oils into the roll-on bottle. Fill the rest with V6 vegetable oil. Apply topically along spine and bottom of feet everyday, up to 2-3x per day.

4). All-Natural Cleaners: Young Living's brand of Thieves cleaning products are awesome!! By using these all-natural, plant based cleaners, we are ridding our home of unwanted chemicals. Young Living's Thieves line has everything from cough drops, toothpaste, and mouthwash to waterless hand purifier, dish washing liquid to laundry detergent. Check out the Thieves line here:
While Young Living has the laundry detergent, I like to DIY so, I make my own!! I really like using liquid laundry detergent (because it lasts longer and you don't have to make it as often!), but if I run out and don't have time right away, I will make and use powder detergent. Below are recipes for both and they are super simple to make. Also, because I use the Thieves Bar Soap, they smell AH-MAZING!!

Liquid Laundry Detergent
Grate 1 bar of all natural soap ( I like to use Thieves Bar Soap, you can use Dr. Bronner's Castille Bar Soap) and dissolve in a saucepan with 4 cups of water.
Fill a clean 5 gallon bucket half full with hot water.
When bar soap is dissolved, pour into hot water in bucket and stir well. Add in 3 cups of baking soda and 2 cups of washing soda. Fill the bucket the rest of the way with hot water. Cover with lid and let sit overnight. It will congeal overnight, so take a spoon and  stir together well. If you are going to use essential oils, I would add them at this point (about 10-15 drops per 2 gallons. I use the Thieves Bar Soap so, I don't add essential oils.). Use it out of bucket or pour into cleaned jars or container with a spout. Use 1/2 to 3/4 cup per load. (This recipe usually lasts my family for about 3 months!).

Powdered Laundry Detergent
Grate 1 bar of all natural soap (again, I like to use the Thieves Bar Soap, but you can use Dr. Bronner's Castille Bar Soap)
Mix with 3 cups baking soda and 2 cups washing soda.  You can add about 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil to it, as well!

5). Vitality: And last but certainly not least......Young Living's Vitality line. The Vitality line is labeled as a dietary supplement and therefore, can be ingested. With that being said, I love fruit infused water with a few drops of Vitality oils added (my favorite is Jade Lemon). Just add whatever fruit you like, agave or other sweetener, if you like and a drop or two of Vitality oil. Add ice and fill with distilled water....yum-o!! You can also cook with the Vitality oils! I will be hosting a 'Cooking with Vitality' class this month where we will showcase some of the Vitality oils!. There are four different categories of Vitality oils: herb, spice, citrus and supplement. I encourage you to check out the Vitality line. I like to (especially in the Fall) put a few drops of Bergamot Vitality essential oil in a cup of Earl or Lady Gray tea with a couple of honey sticks!! Yum!

These are a few of the ways our family tries to stay above the wellness line. For more educational opportunities check out the events we have going on. Hope you enjoy these recipes! Blessings and.....happy oiling!
