This is my happiest time of year when trees are starting to bud and flowers are trying to poke their heads up through the soil. It is time to plan the flower garden and perhaps this year grow our own vegetables.
When you have pets did you realize there are flowers that do not agree with them? Here is a chart I found helpful.

We have a large dog Benji and he thinks the backyard is his domain which has made me research what are the suggested oils to keep him from going where I do not want him to go.
Into a spray bottle, I have put citronella and cinnamon bark with water and so far this is helping.

Every year I like to try something different. In the past, I have had an old wheel barrel that I repainted and planted flowers in and put out on my front sidewalk. It was a hit with little kids as they liked looking at the flowers.
This year I am going to try my hand at vertical vegetable gardening. I have 10-gallon fabric bags that I will be able to move around for the best location and safety from Benji.
Our biggest challenge in Calgary is the weather so I have learned over the years just to grow flowers that will come back after the hail with the help of Miracle Grow. It is fun and it keeps me in shape and happy.
What are your favorite tips and tricks for gardening? I would love to hear from you.
