3 Tips For Shift Workers

For a women who has spend the over 22 years of my career, at many positions, working shift work and growing up in a home where parents were shift workers, You can say I learned a few things, some by trial and error.  This are just  3 tips I learned

The need of your body to work with you and not against you, especially when a body is shifting from shift to shift. When I work nights, wether 8, 12 or 16 hour shifts, I found the healthiest way for my body was to eat my breakfast when I got up, wether that 5 am or 8pm and your heading to work. Eating my biggest meal in the middle of my shift makes me feel the most energized. Now I have always found that I am more dehydrated on night shifts and on double shifts as compared to any other shifts. ….. that is so important to keep my water intake higher when on nights. Do you feel you drink enough water?

Decluttered… OMG was huge for me… by following some very simple steps and mindfully decluttering our entire home its made life so much easier to maintain cleanliness and peace of mind.  Clothing and shoes were probably my biggest struggle when it came to this area…. Now I am proud to only possess items I love to look at and wear.  Surrounding ourselves with items I or we love is what makes our home our sanctuary. But where do you start and how?

Daily 20 minute tidy ups…. Yes taking 20 mins a day to either do a run through the house and put stuff back in rooms where they belong or just to tidy up one room or task.  You can time it with your washing machine,,,, I have an older top loading machine.  Often to start my 20 min tidy up I start a load of laundry and by the time its complete and ready to go in the dryer its been 20mins…  This is how someone’s house and its consistently appears picture perfect…. It’s about maintaining it daily not just one day a week.  Using simple clean products makes this even easier and let’s me become my own little chemist… and creator.  I have a few recipes to pass along to you.

Sincere Love,
Shannon
