Luxurious Face Cream Recipe

Luxurious Face Cream Recipe
I really enjoy making my own beauty products as a way to cut down on the toxins that go in and on our bodies.  I love lotions and wanted to make a face cream that could be tailored to my skin type and used natural ingredients that I could pronounce. They say you shouldn’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat. The skin is your largest organ and you need to take care of it! Did you know the body absorbs 60% of what is applied to it?! 1 The skin is so effective at absorbing what is put on it that many prescriptions are actually absorbed via rubbing a cream into the skin or on a patch. Do we really want to rub synthetic or toxic chemical ingredients into our skin? I sure don't! I used to love my fragrance filled bath and body lotions and sprays but now I cringe at how artificial they smell and honestly, I get a headache from smelling them now.
Skin care products made with natural ingredients are very effective at reducing wrinkles, tightening and smoothing the skin and keeping it soft and supple. Using essential oils you can customize your cream to your skin type and needs.  I used Lavender and Frankincense in this batch.  Rose, Geranium, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Lemon would be great options as well.

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Raw Organic Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Avocado Oil
1/4 Cup Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil
1 teaspoon Vit E oil (optional)
10 drops Lavender Essential oil
15 drops Frankincense Essential oil

Directions:

Whip the Shea butter, Avocado and Coconut Oils until light and fluffy.
Add in the essential oils and mix to combine.
Store in a glass jar and use daily.

Nourishing Lotion Bars Recipe

Nourishing Lotion Bars Recipe
Have you ever tried making your own skin care products? You can save a lot of money and cut out a lot of the chemicals that you find in most of your beauty products. If a store bought product has "fragrance" in the ingredients list this could mean hundreds of different chemicals alone, none of which are required to be on the label. On average, the American woman uses 12 products per day with a grand total of 168 different chemicals in them, so why add more to the mix with a lotion? The best part about making your own moisturizer is that it only takes a few minutes and a handful of ingredients to make.  You can customize these lotion bars to your skin type by adding different essential oils and can make them in fun shapes using silicon molds or just cut them in regular bar shapes by putting the mix into a bar pan to set up.

Lotion Bar Ingredients
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Cocoa Butter
1/2 Cup beeswax pastilles
1 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil
20-30 drops of essential oils of your choice

Some essential oils that you could use are:
Ylang Ylang
Elemi
Frankincense
Lavender
Jasmine
Patchouli
Lemon
Orange
Rose
Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood

Directions:
  1. Combine the first 5 ingredients in a double boiler or a glass bowl placed over a smaller pot with an inch of  water in it.
  2. Bring the water to a boil and stir slowly until all the ingredients melt and mix together.
  3. Remove glass bowl from the heat and add in the essential oils and stir to mix them in.
  4. Carefully pour into your molds and let them set up for an hour or 2.
  5. Pop them out of your molds and enjoy!
