Nourishing Lotion Bars Recipe
Have you ever tried making your own skin care products? You can save a lot of money and cut out a lot of the chemicals that you find in most of your beauty products. If a store bought product has "fragrance" in the ingredients list this could mean hundreds of different chemicals alone, none of which are required to be on the label. On average, the American woman uses 12 products per day with a grand total of 168 different chemicals in them, so why add more to the mix with a lotion? The best part about making your own moisturizer is that it only takes a few minutes and a handful of ingredients to make.  You can customize these lotion bars to your skin type by adding different essential oils and can make them in fun shapes using silicon molds or just cut them in regular bar shapes by putting the mix into a bar pan to set up.

Lotion Bar Ingredients
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Shea Butter
1/4 Cup Cocoa Butter
1/2 Cup beeswax pastilles
1 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil
20-30 drops of essential oils of your choice

Some essential oils that you could use are:
Ylang Ylang
Elemi
Frankincense
Lavender
Jasmine
Patchouli
Lemon
Orange
Rose
Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood

Directions:
  1. Combine the first 5 ingredients in a double boiler or a glass bowl placed over a smaller pot with an inch of  water in it.
  2. Bring the water to a boil and stir slowly until all the ingredients melt and mix together.
  3. Remove glass bowl from the heat and add in the essential oils and stir to mix them in.
  4. Carefully pour into your molds and let them set up for an hour or 2.
  5. Pop them out of your molds and enjoy!
