I cannot recall a time in recent history when there was more talk about staying healthy and avoiding illness.  The Coronavirus has had a huge effect on society (mostly due to the media hype, in my opinion) and now more than ever we are mindful of ways to avoid viruses as well as preventative measures to remain well.   I’m sure none of my suggestions will be ground breaking, but I’m hoping they might be great reminders that a healthy immune system is the goal and there are several different avenues to this objective.

  1. Get Sleep.   I know there is a LOT to be done every day, but for goodness sake, do yourself the favor or getting the appropriate amount of sleep.  What is that amount?  I would say it is different for everyone, but for me I feel my best at about 7 ½ hours of sleep each night.  Personally, I was able to accomplish this by simply saying “no” to nighttime TV.   Easy-peasy.  And, I don’t even miss it a bit.
  2. Exercise.   Regular movement has been proven to boost your immune system by strengthening the cells in your body that help to eliminate invading infections and rid the body of abnormal cells (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23977724). Even if you only have time for a 10-15 walk, DO IT.  This will also help you with getting better and more sleep as well!
  3. Take the right supplements.  For me, the daily supplements that I take are all from Young Living and they are:   MultiGreens, Life 9 Probiotic, and Super C.  I also daily drink Ningxia Red and my Elderberry/Wolfberry Super Syrup.  Young Living also has some incredible products made just for the purpose of immunity:  ImmuPro, ImmuPower, Inner Defense (my personal favorite) and of course Thieves!   If you are stuck on which one to use, feel free to message me and I’ll help you figure out your needs and the needs of your family as well. There are many others to choose from but these to me are a great start.  Like the oils that they produce, Young Living has THE highest standards when it comes to their supplements.  I challenge you to try them for a few months and notice the difference in the way that you feel!
  4. Eat well.   Include plenty of fruits and veggies.   This can help improve your antibody response and give your overall immune system a boost.
  5. Wash your hands!!  Obviously this will help protect you from germs.  Young Living has awesome hand gel that works great, doesn’t dry out your hands, and smells amazing!  You only need the tiniest dab of this Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer on your hands for great results.  This is also very safe for the little kiddos that seem to get their hands into everything!
  6. Stress Less.   Let it go in whichever ways work best for you:  prayer, yoga, medication, walking; there are so many good ways to relieve your stress.   I love a combination of all of the above for a more relaxed outlook on life and to not allow myself to spiral into negativity when I am tempted to do so.

I am sure there are way more ideas than this, but if you can start implementing some of these you will be well on your way to a nice strong immune system, and having one less thing like the Coronavirus to worry about will be a welcome break for your mind!   What is your favorite way to boost your immune system?
