Have you seen the Wheat Belly FLAX WRAP recipe?
I think the original version had more flax but whatever the case, I'm really thrilled with this recipe! I originally found the basic version over on Spark Recipes.

I'm even more excited about
the yummy ways I've figured out
how to use them...
and wanted to share them with you! :)
A huge perk to these is that they are SUPER FILLING!
With 3 Tbsp of ground flax, that is almost 6 grams of fiber per serving! Perfect to hold you over so you don't snack before bed or if you'll be out shopping, intermittent fasting, etc. They also help support healthy bowel flora and um..staying regular. I have no idea if this is the same as the original recipe or not but it certainly is Wheat Belly friendly as well as Atkins and low carb friendly. I mean, who doesn't need more fiber in their lives?
First I'll show you how I make the wrap, then I'll show some ways I like to use it! :)

WHEAT BELLY FLAX WRAP RECIPE (one version)
***PRINT RECIPE***
INGREDIENTS
3 Tablespoons ground flax (GOLDEN is best cuz it isn't ugly, haha)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
several dashes of pink salt to your taste

1/4 teaspoon baking powder
several dashes of pink salt to your taste
couple dashes of sugar free seasoning such as Cajun spices or garlic granules, etc.
1 Tablespoon coconut oil
1 Tablespoon water (hot if your coconut oil is solid)
1 egg
1 Tablespoon coconut oil
1 Tablespoon water (hot if your coconut oil is solid)
1 egg
Spray a microwavable plate or pie pan if you will be doing the microwave method, set aside.
Whisk the dry ingredients together first, then whisk in the other ingredients til it is a smooth consistency (try to be quick cuz flax can get thick).

Scrape onto your chosen plate.
Wiggle it to form a circle (TIP...spin your plate a few times! It will make a nice round splat that makes a great wrap shape. I spin mine on the floor, haha).

Microwave it for about 2 1/2 min.
(I haven't done it but some people do cook theirs in a skillet on med-low for about 3 min, then other side for 30 seconds)

Let it cool for a couple min then carefully work it loose with a spatula and use it how you want.
If you use it as soon as it cools, it will be soft and bendy. Avoid drippy wet fillings though!
USES FOR THIS WRAP
Well it's pretty obvious you can use these like a tortilla or any wrap. Tacos, fajitas, tuna/cheese/lettuce, etc.
I've also cut it into fourths to use as a sandwich bread which is very handy. I even wrapped it in a paper towel and used it later in the day on a picnic. :)

So far, my FAVORITE way is to cut it in half and fry it like a grilled sandwich but I kick it up a notch and fry cheddar cheese onto it so it has a CRUNCH :) Keep reading if you want to see how I do it....
STEP 1
Cut in half. The part that was touching the plate is more bubbly/rough looking. It's the side you will use for frying!
STEP 2
*Get your greased frying pan hot and ready to go.
*Lay one piece of wrap down on the bubbly side and put your chosen fillings onto it (don't forget the cheese which helps glue it, haha). This could be anything..ham & Swiss, mozzarella olives & pepperoni.. leftover pork chop w mushrooms & tomatoes.. BURGER melt w Swiss.. sausage & kraut w a smear of SF BBQ sauce..Tuna salad w tomato slices and hot sauce...whatever!
TIP- At this point you can just put a bit of cheese and cilantro for the filling and then you can use it in place of tortilla chips or grilled bread with your favorite taco soup or white bean chili ! YUMMO!

*After it looks grilled on the bottom, gently flip it over and grate some cheddar cheese on it.
*Once the cheese has fried on the first side (takes about a 30 seconds to a minute..don't let it burn), flip it over and fry the cheese onto the second side.
Enjoy with a side of olives, celery & cream cheese, etc.
Dip it in whatever suits your fancy...wheat belly yogurt, sour cream w/mayo, guacamole, etc.
Try it with pizza toppings!!!!!! :)
GO CHECK OUT THE OTHER LOW CARB RECIPES I'VE POSTED!
https://getoiling.com/EssentialComfortsMama/blog/6393/low-carb-mug-bread-options
This is a super easy thing to make especially once you get in the groove and so filling! Great for low carbers or just anyone who wants to get more fiber in their lives!
The cheese frying part does take a bit of a know but if you grate a bit of cheese near it you'll see when the cheese should be fried enough...it will be lacy but of course you cant see the part that is on the wrap so this is helpful to get use to how long..I use medium high temp or high like a grilled cheese sandwich.
Have fun! <3
