14 days and GLP1...plus NEW Product!
Christmas and New Year's is over and my body is hurting. So, I am on a 14 day no sugar fast. If you are stiff and hurting you may want to consider giving your body a break from anti-inflammatory foods for14 days and see if you feel better. Many foods I ate over Christmas were not good. So, I am giving my body 14 days to turn around. I gained about 5 pounds. Much of that is inflammation. My goal is to loose 10lbs by April 3rd. Then I would have lost 25 lbs. in 2025. I know it seems a  low  amount but I did have  surgery twice. Which brings me to my next subject.

There has been much controversy over the NEW weight loss shots called GLP1's. Now, many of you may be taking them. Hopefully you have had success. But many have not been successful. There is a class action lawsuit against Ozempic. It can cause many intestinal problems and even blindness. There are other GLP1's on the market and I cannot find lawsuits against them. But basically  what these drugs do is mimic a hormone that helps control hunger and food noise. Many people have lost weight but once you go off of it, people seem to gain their weight back.

Recently, Oprah was on The View and she discussed her journey with GLP1's. She lost about 45 lbs. She went off the drug and gained 20 lbs back. She did exercise and watched what she ate but gained weight. She actually believes there is an obesity gene. I do not know if her thoughts about it being a gene are true but I do know obesity seems to run in families. It runs in mine. I struggle and so do my brother and sisters and cousins. It is a constant battle. The study of obesity as a "gene" or as a "disease" will continue. It is curious to me that obesity in the U.S. did not become a problem until around the 1980's. Since then the obesity rate has continued to grow. We have more fast food, more snacks, more restaurants, more sugar etc. That is why many are turning to GLP1's. Is this the answer?

I am introducing a more natural answer to the GLP1 shot. Young Living has come out with a product that naturally encourages your body to develop the GLP1 hormone. It is called the "Balance and Burn System". What this system does is help your body produce the GLP1 hormone and when you have lost the weight, your body willl keep producing the hormone so you do not gain your weight back. Now I have NOT tried it. Those who have tried it love the energy it produces and have lost weight. The "Balance and Burn" system does have green tea in it. Green tea has caffeine and I cannot handle caffeine so I have yet to try it. But it has gotten good reviews. As I learn more I will share it with you. You can easily go on the Young Living website and read about it.

I am afraid the hunt for easy weight loss will always be a hot topic. Weight loss products are a big money maker. Most women I know have struggled at some point in watching their weight or trying to loose weight. I personally use a calorie counting app and exercise. I have chosen the slow way but it is the best way for me. So what do you think? For those of you who are on the search for weight loss. What is the best way? Any thoughts.....

I learned how to enjoy life over 50......

Turning 40 was a magical age for me. I was at an age where life was easy. I enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting with my friends, homeschooling my son and serving alongside my husband in our local church. Even though I was overweight I looked good and felt good. But within a few short years my health changed dramatically. I developed respiratory issues, pelvic pain, and a chronic disorder characterized by “widespread muscle pain with fatigue and tenderness”.  Occasional anxiety set in. My decline really affected my ability to be creative, to minister effectively in my church and to function at home.

I suffered through a hysterectomy and many doctors visits. A change in seasons would send me in a painful roller coaster of antibiotics and steroids. Spending a whole day in bed became normal.  Age 50 came quickly with no lasting solutions.

Eventually I began to explore and research natural remedies. Something I was not taught in my younger years was lifestyle.  I considered that maybe my lifestyle was contributing to my health issues and my emotions.

One day I was venting my frustration to a friend who had been battling some of  the same chronic issues. We talked about some of the natural solutions I had read about. One of the  solutions she had used and had some great results with. I became instantly interested.

That is when my real life changing journey began. I found a solution that has contributed to a healthy lifestyle and brought about the quality of life I was looking for.  It is my mission to share with mature women, how to embrace the enjoyment of life over 50.
