Anointing of Jesus
Mary Magdeline, was forgiven of ALL her sins! “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be whiter than SNOW” Jesus restored her life. Jesus removed any and ALL the guilt and shame she felt. She was washed to be white as snow. The tremendous renewing of her heart & soul made her WHOLE desiring to give all she had to anoint Jesus feet.
Why did Mary anoint Jesus?
“As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”” Luke‬ â€7:38-39, 44-47‬ â€
What did Mary Magdeline Anoint Jesus with? Spikenard (Valerian)
Mary, anointed Jesus' feet with an expensive Spikenard, a Himalayan plant, Valerian. It was her life’s worth! Her burial oil.
Mary, who did not have a husband, saved that oil that she may have it for her own death; however, she gave it all to Jesus!
Humbling herself, Mary washed Jesus' feet. Anointed and poured out the holy anointing oil and massaged Jesus' feet. Oil in the Bible represents the Holy Spirit. Ancient Oils of the Bible
Think about this!
Mary who had been forgiven much embodies an intense love for her SAVIOR, longing to show her appreciation exchanged ALL she had! Crying, her tears washed Jesus feet, anointing and praying, poured out her soul then dried Jesus’s feet with her very own hair.
What humility!
