Pamper Those Precious Feet

Those precious feet of yours are key players in your mobility ...... such a small area of your body keeping you in contact with Mother Earth,  strong and upright throughpit life.  Imagine for a minute  - they're working continuously from those very first few steps as a toddler through til whenever. Give a thought to your heels, soles and toes by treating them to a pedicure easiiy done with self-care.  Yes you can, all by yourself and often - no need to go to the spa.  Just think of the savings in time and money you could make with these easy few steps. .

A revitalising foot scrub is so easy to conjure up and help you put a spring back into your step if feeling tired and overworked. Adding say lavender or peppermint are my favourite go to essential oils.  It's simply the same when it comes to looking after my feet with a revitalising foot scrub.     Using just a small amount of scrub, apply to dampened feet then soak away in a bowl of warm water. Ingredients you're likely to have already in the kitchen pantry anyway.  Best foot forward !

Start with coarse or fine sugar, your choice .... For the oil you can use avocado, jojoba, almond or any other neutral-smelling oil. (Olive oil could be a possibility but maybe on the heavy side - I use it sometimes).

This DIY is just one of many delicious foot scrubs you can make to soften those hard skin heels. If you'd like a downloadable recipe then click this link

Venturing Out after Being Couped up for a Few Months ?

Venturing Out after Being Couped up for a Few Months ?
Heck yes, you maybe saying!  Getting out to explore the backyard instead of hopping a plane to the other side of the world?  Bush camping or glamping some time real soon?   Get that "next trip" checklist together well ahead of time because when you're in the back of beyond, you don't need 15 outfits for dinner in the suitcase, you just need to have a slightly more practical stash of things in the kit bag.  Just think, it could be say 1,000 kms to the nearest corner store so that's like perhaps a 10 hour drive and a tiny bit too late!   From the camping side of things, top of the list is something to repel those pesky little biters in the evenings.    Oh and something for ..........., and OMG we forgot   .....   the deodorant ...... Have some multi-tasking go-to's on hand that can double up for a few uses - lavender just one tiny solution - yet take up the smallest of spaces in the vehicle, van or trailer.  Keeping things practical and simple!

That's just for the camping, yet the real serious side of things will keep you busy for a few weeks beforehand.  Be sure to get the low down on all the vehicle preparation and off road travel if that's what you're thinking about and you've never been into remote parts / off road before.   You'll find outback travel checklists on the internet and it pays to talk to someone who's travelled the route / trip you're planning. You've got plenty to investigate and plan for such as fuel, water, spare parts, vehicle servicing, weather, road status (open or closed). maps and communication.  One of my project planner planners could be a good idea too. Request one here

Apart from a small limited-stock hardware store 50 kms from this remote riverside campsite, the next fully stocked store was just a short 800 kms round trip away.

Joining a Movement - Add a Few Essential Oils Into Your Life

Joining a Movement - Add a Few Essential Oils Into Your Life
So good to see that essential oils use is gathering acceptance in the community by some, not by all of course, for all sorts of uses and by people from all walks of life and professions.  Makes sense though since essential oils come from the plants around us, or do they?  That's a whole topic in itself I talk about in my guest speaker talks I give in the community.

If you've been following me for a while you'll know I use just a hint of essential oils in my variable coloured, tasty eat-a-rainbow-every-day smoothies.  Just the essential oils produced from the herbs and spices we generally use in the kitchen anyway.  I'm always totally sure that the oils I use are directly from plants, not some minor compound from a plant which might just smell like the exact same fragrance yet has been copied synthetically in the laboratory with none of the plant benefits - in fact as a synthetic, it likely could be quite detrimental.

In an unregulated essential oils market, all oils are not the same.   Like to learn more, about what's in my smoothies and why its only the slightest hint of essential I use or how to travel the minefield of what to look for when buying a few essential oils, get my free 5 tips when selecting your essential oils stash.

Turn it Around -Walk Away from Fear, Self-doubt or Bad Habits

Turn it Around -Walk Away from Fear, Self-doubt or Bad Habits
No need to let that fear, self-doubt or any bad habits sabotage your growth.  Those voices in your head are always going to be there... you've got to know them as they pushed their way in to be your advisory committee. Tell the negative guys to skedaddle,  they'll still be there but ugh just ignore them.  Instead seek out the good guys as your cheer squad with all their positivity and you-can-do-its.

We all have self doubt - #turnitaround .... visualise your highest potential self and start showing up that way...  for you and let those around you marvel as you take control.    Be gone self-sabotage and start to tread a more exciting and rewarding path.

Learn to still your mind and still your thinking.   Take the time that will allow you to connect with your inner self; visualise the life you want.   Make it a daily habit and allow the calm to steer the path.

Challenge Yourself to do Something a Litte Quirky

Challenge Yourself to do Something a Litte Quirky
A few years ago we thought we would try our hand at growing saffron.   It's outrageously expensive from the store, who knows how long its been in the packet since harvest.... fresh is always best when it comes to produce for the kitchen, right?   We got our hands on a few saffron corms, planted and waited.   A few seasons later we had these gems of purple flowers. Then can you just see those treasured red stamens?

We've missed a few seasons since but every so often we see a few flowers and those awesome red stamens.  Try something a little quirky somewhere in your life.  We loved just seeing these in a small planter in our garden.
