Say Goodbye to Chaos at Home

Say Goodbye to Chaos at Home
In my area its called roadside collection and in anyone's terms its time to take stock of the possesions which surround us, tidy up and throw out all the unwanted gear kicking around the house, garden, garage no longer serving its purpose.    The streets look like a disaster zone for a while although soon to be collected by the local council (or anyone who helps themselves beforehand!)

What it does mean though is that it's time to breathe and take stock - time for a good old fashioned clear out.   When was the last time you had a clean out?   Can I challenge you to have a deep and meaningful clean out at your place ?  A wonderful idea as we round out 2020 in just a few weeks' time and head for a brand new year.
I help heart-centred driven people like you think more about growing food and the idea that the gardens which surround us can be a place not only to grow food, beautiful blooms to feast our eyes on and a place to unwind from the sometimes crazy world which surrounds us.   If we grow a little in the garden, we learn a lot and grow in ourselves !   If all this growing sounds like you, well hello !  How about signing up for my blog today?

Exotic Summer Fruit - MangoLicious !

Exotic Summer Fruit - MangoLicious !
For me managoes say  exotic and delicious !   Growing up in a cold climate, we simply never had mangoes at our place.   In more recent times and where I live these days, they are a regular crop through the summer months with mango farms in reasonably close proximity. Pretty cool hey!

Recipes for mangoes?  endless!

Fresh or frozen, there's a multitude of ways to serve mangoes.  Add to fruit salads or freeze, add to breakfast dishes and to jazz up both sweet or savoury dishes.  I often use in my smoothies for a welcome colourful zing during the winter months as mango keeps superbly well when frozen.    Mangoes are delicious in chicken recipes like Spicy Chicken & Mango or Mango Chicken Ginger.

To prepare use a fish filleting knife, slice right down to the hard central seed and then fillet out the fruit, thin slice by thin slice and be sure to capture all the fruit around the centre seed.   Just cutting off the "cheek" then into the traditional criss-cross fashion, turning inside out and divulging is the quickest when you've been waiting all winter long to get your hands on one.

Pretty Neat PicNic Seats and Oh That Sand !

Pretty Neat PicNic Seats and Oh That Sand !
Strawberry picking out at the pick-your-own farm recently we spotted this well-positioned pit stop of repurposed chep pallets.   In a few hours these seats were taken up with strawberry pickers like ourselves from being out in the strawberry fields eating and picking strawberries!   Only kidding, it took us no time at all to fill the box you buy then fill with succulently sweet rosy red strawberries.  (I dawdled a little taking a few photos too).     We made a family morning out of it and enjoyed being out in the fresh air.  We actually did 2 visits on successive weekends and made some delectable strawberry treats in the kitchen.

Do you have some place like this to get out and pick-your-own some time during your seasons?  In this current closed-border time of 2020, all the transient fun-loving holiday backpackers living the life down under aren't here but home in their respective countries.  With this labour shortage we did our bit for the growers and WOW the spoils were ours.

Oh that sand we walked through to get to the designated strawberry rows to pick!  It was like walking on the beach.   My grubby feet needed a soak after I seemed to acquire enough sand in my sneekers to build a sandcastle or two.  Thank goodness for my lavender sugar scrub which was the pamper my slightly gritty feet needed for a clean up when I got home.    Like the sound of that scrub?  You'll find a post about it on the blog if you click here. You'll find it in the search categories too.

The Daily Rainbow - Fact or Fiction ?

You've surely heard the expression in healthy eating circles "eat a rainbow every day"?  Stats confirm that a leading cause of ill health and disability is CVD (that's cardiovascular disease) attributable to a number of life factors  such as diet and physical activity.  These are both fundamental determinants to keeping the heart in good shape the medical journals tell us.  Amongst those items listed as life factors is eating five or more portions of fruit and vegetables each day. Challenged Switching Between Doing Life and Work Under the Same Roof ?

Challenged Switching Between Doing Life and Work Under the Same Roof ?
One way or another, around the world we seem to be spending more of our time at home in this unprecedented year of 2020. Whether a corporate worker now in an alternate workplace (your home) or an entrepreneur, chances are you are challenged with this business of working from home (WFH).   One good solution is to give yourself permission to take the time to get organised otherwise it will all just become overwhelming and so unproductive as to be destructive in being to kick the goals you have in front of you.

One such solution is to break down one or two of the biggest projects that form this mass of overwhelm. Identifying what some of the key drivers of the overwhelm are and action steps required.  Do some brainstorming about these and see a clear way forward with the tasks required.  OK .... is your head in a better place now you have cleared the path a little ? Enough to do some clear thinking to start to make headway with getting organised ?

I put together a checklist which is helping me keep organised and helping to segment my personal life from the other stuff which takes up my day.   Only wished I had someone put a list like this together when I first stopped being an employee in an office and all my activities were executed at my own home.   Sign up for my working from home blueprint which could be the handiest tips you ever receive if they help to get you into a routine for a more productive you.   Just think today will be the first day beginning your organised life - personal and work. Head to the blueprint here.
