It is heredity.......
Well, I hear this too much lately, it's heredity! Recently my sister had a Calcium Heart test. It came back positive for calcium build up in heart arteries. She has a higher risk of a heart attack from blocked arteries. And the cause is "heredity." So it was decided that I should have a  calcium heart test by my doctor. Yes, my test came back saying I was at a higher risk for heart attack from blocked arteries. Yikes! I would have never known. My cholesterol numbers are great. My sisters cholesterol numbers are better than mine. And guess what. We both have calcium build up in our heart arteries. But it only gets better.....

Calcium build up in arteries is treated one way. With a statin drug. Ugh! My husband has been on a statin drug for 20 years. They are not fun. So far my doctor has had me on Lipator and Crestor. Well I do not do synthetic drugs well. I went off the Lipator after three weeks and the Crestor after one week. The side effects were awful. I was nauseated the whole time. My muscles hurt the whole time and I became so weak that I could hardly walk up the stairs. There are other statin drugs with less side effects but for some reason my doctor will not put me on those. So....i decided to go off the drug and make an appointment with him to discuss alternatives.

In the mean time, I am taking a supplement for heart support by Young Living called Cardiogize. K2 is a good supplement for heart issues and Cardiogize contains it. I feel so much better being a part of a company that supports all of my body systems. Young Living is so consistent in supporting all my needs. Are you part of a company that provides all your body needs?

By the way, my dad was 89 years old when he died....of a stroke. My mother died of dementia. As far as we know they had no coronary artery disease. But my dads brother died of a massive heart attack at 49. And my dads sister died of a heart attack. She was 80. What is in your family's health history?

I learned how to enjoy life over 50......

Turning 40 was a magical age for me. I was at an age where life was easy. I enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting with my friends, homeschooling my son and serving alongside my husband in our local church. Even though I was overweight I looked good and felt good. But within a few short years my health changed dramatically. I developed respiratory issues, pelvic pain, and a chronic disorder characterized by “widespread muscle pain with fatigue and tenderness”.  Occasional anxiety set in. My decline really affected my ability to be creative, to minister effectively in my church and to function at home.

I suffered through a hysterectomy and many doctors visits. A change in seasons would send me in a painful roller coaster of antibiotics and steroids. Spending a whole day in bed became normal.  Age 50 came quickly with no lasting solutions.

Eventually I began to explore and research natural remedies. Something I was not taught in my younger years was lifestyle.  I considered that maybe my lifestyle was contributing to my health issues and my emotions.

One day I was venting my frustration to a friend who had been battling some of  the same chronic issues. We talked about some of the natural solutions I had read about. One of the  solutions she had used and had some great results with. I became instantly interested.

That is when my real life changing journey began. I found a solution that has contributed to a healthy lifestyle and brought about the quality of life I was looking for.  It is my mission to share with mature women, how to embrace the enjoyment of life over 50.
