You may be familiar with the rich flavor of nutmeg added to your favorite fall drink or dessert, but did you know that Nutmeg essential oil has some incredible health benefits? Nutmeg has been touted by early herbalists for centuries, and is even listed in Hildegard's "Medicine", a resource used dating back to 1098!

In addition to making your entire house smell like a warm hug when used as a part of fall diffuser blends, Nutmeg boasts a host of benefits for us in modern times. Her's how you can use Nutmeg to add warmth to your home and to support your body:

  • Immune Support: Thanks to its natural molecular structure, Nutmeg boasts a number of constituents that are supportive for the immune system and overall wellness. Apply Nutmeg topically with a carrier oil (I prefer the feet) or diffuse daily for immune benefits. Isn't it fascinating that scents we are drawn to in the fall are able to help us with the challenges that season may bring? Our bodies are so smart!
  • Endocrine Support: Nutmeg essential oil is touted for offering support to your adrenal system, which produces hormones that help regulate your metabolism, immune system, blood pressure, response to stress and other essential functions. Diffuseing Nutmeg or rubbing it typically over the adrenal glands (just above the kidneys) can offer support to the adrenals and can impact energy levels, sleep quality, and circulatory function.
  • Muscle/Joint Support: Do your joints feel achy from time to time, or do you need to wake up your legs every now and then? If so, Nutmeg is your new go to oil! Add to a carrier oil or your favorite YL body lotion to help support joints, muscles, and nerves!
