So you’re ready to take advantage of your Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils with a home diffuser? Great. But if you’re like many, when you browse the diffuser options, it can be a little confusing. So many diffusers to choose from! Atomizing, ultrasonic, USB… and the list goes on. So which is best for you?
The Two Basic Types
Before we dive into diffuser details, understand that there are two main types of diffusers: Those that dispense undiluted essential oils into the air (atomizing also called nebulizing), and those that use water as part of the process (ultrasonic or wick based).
Ultrasonic (Water) Diffusers
These are less expensive, but don’t pack the therapeutic punch the atomizing versions do. An ultrasonic diffuser (such as the Home Diffuser) sends a cool mist into the air. The water droplets in the mist are coated with essential oil. No heat is used in the process, so the essential oils are protected. However, due to minor dilution, the therapeutic impact of the oils are affected. Ultrasonic diffusers are also nice for dry climates. Even though they technically aren’t humidifiers, moisture is still being added into the air.
Atomizing Diffusers
These are also called nebulizing diffusers. The atomizing technology transforms essential oils into a vapor of millions of microparticles, dispersing them into the air and releasing the powerful plant constituents found in Young Living essential oils. This is the best diffusion method for reaping the therapeutic benefits of an oil. The downside of these models is that they go through oils much faster. You typically will not run one as long as you would an ultrasonic model.
The Young Living Aroma Lux Diffuser
This is an atomizing diffuser designed by Gary Young, so it’s completely unique to Young Living. The AromaLux™ diffuserfeatures various timers and diffusion modes. If you want to diffuse your own combinations of oils, this one is more difficult as it works by placing the Young Living oil jar directly into the diffuser. It accepts both 5-ml and 15-ml jars.
The Young Living Home Diffuser
This is an ultrasonic diffuser. Its technology breaks any mixture of essential oils and water into millions of microparticles, disperses them into the air, and activates the powerful plant constituents found in Young Living essential oils. The Home Diffuser feature constant or alternating diffusion. The light can also be turned off.
The Young Living Bamboo Diffuser
This is an ultrasonic diffuser that’s very similar to the Home Diffuser above. The difference? This diffuser can cover a slightly larger area than the home diffuser. However, it only has continuous mode, and you can’t turn the light on and off like you can with the home diffuser. It looks nice, but if you want light control and/or the alternating diffusion, this isn’t the one for you.
The Young Living Rainstone Diffuser
This is an ultrasonic diffuser, but it also features a negative ionizer, which helps removes pollutants in the air and increase oxygen flow to the brain. Created with a rare purple clay found only in a small region of China, the Rainstone has a robust feature set, including continuous ultrasonic diffusion at 1.7 million waves per second; 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8 hour settings with automatic shutoff; five soft LED light settings (including off) and a remote control.
The USB Orb Diffuser
This tiny diffuser (about five inches wide) is spill proof. And it lives up to the claim. You can tip it over on its side and not a drop of water comes out. It’s not an atomizing or ultrasonic diffuser, but instead uses a wick, water and fan. You drip oils onto a presoaked wick, fill the lower portion of the Orb with water, and screw it together. It runs in continues or intermittent modes and is powered by a USB connection. Designed for a small, personal area.
The Young Living Dewdrop
Last but definitely not least is the newer Dewdrop™ diffuser. So what’s unique about this one? It takes the humidifying, water based feature of ultrasonic diffusers, and combines that with atomizing. The result is a highly therapeutic diffuser that also adds moisture into the air.
There Are Still Others To Choose From
Are there other diffusers available through Young Living? You bet. From the beautiful Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser with wood accents, to other therapeutic models like the TheraPro.
