Over and Over and Over and Over.........Again! | India Davis
Last week was an eye opening week for me. First let me say....I have very dry skin. It is not unusual for me to have itchy skin in the winter. But for almost 2 weeks it has been almost unbearable. I ended up taking Benadryl and dousing myself in lotion  just to be able to get through the day and to be able to sleep at night. 

So I sat down and to began to really think about why was this was happening. I quit taking my supplements wondering if those were causing the itching. I got everything out of my system.....and still it continued. I wondered if I had some disease or was there a medical reason why it was so bad. Now mind you I  did not have a rash but it felt like I was allergic to something.

Well after much thought and some reading I realized it had to do with one thing....WATER. Yes, I had not been drinking enough water. I was exercising in 35 degree weather and drinking maybe 32 ozs. a day of water with coffee and herb tea. What most people do not realize your skin needs hydration through water. We need hydration in the winter months as well as the summer months. Once again I had fallen into the trap of NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER. So I immediately started drinking about 64 ozs with tea and coffee. Now 64 is not enough but it is a start. I have my cup with me as I am typing.

So the lesson learned here is DRINK YOUR WATER.  Get some flavoring for your water or purchase some flavored waters to supplement your intake. Begin to take care of you skin in the winter months as well as the summer.

I learned how to enjoy life over 50......

 

Turning 40 was a magical age for me. I was at an age where life was easy. I enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting with my friends, homeschooling my son and serving alongside my husband in our local church. Even though I was overweight I looked good and felt good. But within a few short years my health changed dramatically. I developed respiratory issues, pelvic pain, and a chronic disorder characterized by “widespread muscle pain with fatigue and tenderness”.  Occasional anxiety set in. My decline really affected my ability to be creative, to minister effectively in my church and to function at home.


 I suffered through a hysterectomy and many doctors visits. A change in seasons would send me in a painful roller coaster of antibiotics and steroids. Spending a whole day in bed became normal.  Age 50 came quickly with no lasting solutions.


Eventually I began to explore and research natural remedies. Something I was not taught in my younger years was lifestyle.  I considered that maybe my lifestyle was contributing to my health issues and my emotions.


One day I was venting my frustration to a friend who had been battling some of  the same chronic issues. We talked about some of the natural solutions I had read about. One of the  solutions she had used and had some great results with. I became instantly interested.


That is when my real life changing journey began. I found a solution that has contributed to a healthy lifestyle and brought about the quality of life I was looking for.  It is my mission to share with mature women, how to embrace the enjoyment of life over 50.
