Stress Eating!
Well we have all been there.....rough day or week and nothing is going right. Women are emotional creatures and to deal with  our emotions we often stress eat. My cravings for cake and pizza go crazy.  Anyone else struggle? So....the word stress eating is probably greater for most of us around the holidays, with work, parties, shopping for gifts, wrapping gifts, etc....

Over time I have learned a few tips on how to deal with stress eating and the repercussions like gaining weight, high blood sugar, stomach issues, etc.

1. Eat small meals! This helps keep from suffering from any major stomach issues. Stress already affects your stomach...so keep meals small
2. Try not eating in the car. If you must eat prepare some simple healthy snacks like nuts, and fruit.
3.Plan to eat at home instead of drive thru or at a restaurant. Eating out can pack on the pounds when stressed and there are few healthy options. Plan home meals. Make it easy and pull out the crock pot.
4. Flip the Food Phyramid. Eat more vegtables with whole grains and less meats and fats. This is a real hard one for me. My goal is 2 vegatables a day. One is usually a salad.
5. Drink plenty of water. Drink less alcohol and sugar filled drinks. These pack on the pounds, and too much alcohol can leave you with a really bad headache

The Holidays are a fun time, but in the south food is a big part. Just remember some of these tips and think about what and why you are eating. Plan a time each day to rest or go to bed early when you need to. And remember to laugh and smile. Laughter is good for the soul and a merry heart is like medicine. Gobble, Gobble!

I learned how to enjoy life over 50......

Turning 40 was a magical age for me. I was at an age where life was easy. I enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting with my friends, homeschooling my son and serving alongside my husband in our local church. Even though I was overweight I looked good and felt good. But within a few short years my health changed dramatically. I developed respiratory issues, pelvic pain, and a chronic disorder characterized by “widespread muscle pain with fatigue and tenderness”.  Occasional anxiety set in. My decline really affected my ability to be creative, to minister effectively in my church and to function at home.

I suffered through a hysterectomy and many doctors visits. A change in seasons would send me in a painful roller coaster of antibiotics and steroids. Spending a whole day in bed became normal.  Age 50 came quickly with no lasting solutions.

Eventually I began to explore and research natural remedies. Something I was not taught in my younger years was lifestyle.  I considered that maybe my lifestyle was contributing to my health issues and my emotions.

One day I was venting my frustration to a friend who had been battling some of  the same chronic issues. We talked about some of the natural solutions I had read about. One of the  solutions she had used and had some great results with. I became instantly interested.

That is when my real life changing journey began. I found a solution that has contributed to a healthy lifestyle and brought about the quality of life I was looking for.  It is my mission to share with mature women, how to embrace the enjoyment of life over 50.
