Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep!
Did you know that 8% of Americans take a doctor prescribed sleep aid?  Did you know about 10% of Americans take an OTC sleep aid? Did you know that after time synthetic sleep aids quit working?  Did you also know that 11% of Americans are sleep deprived? And those between the age of 45-54 are the most sleep deprived. In working with Young Living my biggest inquiry is if oils help with depression. And my  second biggest inquiry  is if essential oils  help with sleep. I believe that deression and lack of sleep go hand in hand.

Last Sunday I woke up about 8:30 a.m.. I was so tired I did not try to go to church. In fact I fell back to sleep and slept till 10:30 a.m. I woke up and grabbed my phone to watch what was left of the church service. By 2:00 I was so tired I told Glenn I was going back to bed. Now I am  stlll recovering from surgery and after sleeping so much that day, I realized my body just needed to sleep. But how often do we rest when we need to? I have a friend who tells me all the time when you are sick to rest and sleep. That It is the best medicine. How many of you go to work, exercise, cook, clean, mow the lawn, etc. when you are sleep deprived? How many of you sleep well now?

I ask this because I am in the process of helping someone with oils for sleep. We are trying different combinations. I have 2 oils I use to help with sleep. But we have many oils and supplements that help with sleep. Please let me know if I can help you finding a natural alternative to sleep. Your body will appreciate it.

In the meantime work on staying hydrated, avoid caffeine, exercise, stay cool, and turn the lights out. These are some natural activities that will help fall asleep. When all these do not work please give me a call and try to get some rest!

I learned how to enjoy life over 50......

Turning 40 was a magical age for me. I was at an age where life was easy. I enjoyed scrapbooking and crafting with my friends, homeschooling my son and serving alongside my husband in our local church. Even though I was overweight I looked good and felt good. But within a few short years my health changed dramatically. I developed respiratory issues, pelvic pain, and a chronic disorder characterized by “widespread muscle pain with fatigue and tenderness”.  Occasional anxiety set in. My decline really affected my ability to be creative, to minister effectively in my church and to function at home.

I suffered through a hysterectomy and many doctors visits. A change in seasons would send me in a painful roller coaster of antibiotics and steroids. Spending a whole day in bed became normal.  Age 50 came quickly with no lasting solutions.

Eventually I began to explore and research natural remedies. Something I was not taught in my younger years was lifestyle.  I considered that maybe my lifestyle was contributing to my health issues and my emotions.

One day I was venting my frustration to a friend who had been battling some of  the same chronic issues. We talked about some of the natural solutions I had read about. One of the  solutions she had used and had some great results with. I became instantly interested.

That is when my real life changing journey began. I found a solution that has contributed to a healthy lifestyle and brought about the quality of life I was looking for.  It is my mission to share with mature women, how to embrace the enjoyment of life over 50.
