The literal definition of synthetic is "made by chemical synthesis, especially to imitate a natural product". Synthetic chemicals are chemicals that are created in a laboratory to mimic chemicals in nature. This generally happens when someone is trying to elicit a SPECIFIC response from SPECIFIC constituents. So the specific constituents, that are most valuable, are chosen to elicit the same response over and over, targeting one thing.
In nature, the same chemical is made of up of multiple constituents. These constituents are wide and vast. The constituents can vary from botanical to botanical and species to species. The good thing about this is the multitude of chemical constituents can mean different responses for different people. Where an essential oil might benefit one person in 10 ways, it might benefit the next person in 50 ways! Our bodies are smart and take the constituents from an oil and take it to the part of the body that needs it the most! So yes people, no matter where you put an oil, it will travel where your body needs it most!
In naturally occurring chemicals the body generally remains in homeostasis. If one of the constituents has to strong of an effect, another constituent may counteract it. A synthetic chemical generally has one action and can disrupt the bodies homeostasis, due to not having other constituents to balance it.
