When I say I use essential oils every day, what do I really mean by that? I mean, I know what I mean, but I got to thinking, maybe other people have no clue what I’m talking about.
If you’re not familiar with essential oils, you probably don’t really know how they are used or why I love them so much.
So let me walk you through a typical day for me and how I incorporate essential oils into my daily routine.
I wake up early, which I really like, because the house is quiet, and it’s a nice time to just enjoy the peace and ease myself into my day.
I always start off by drinking a glass of water, then I put the coffee on. While that’s brewing, I start my diffuser. Today I’m diffusing a nice blend of Peppermint, Pine, and Eucalyptus Globulus. I put about 2 drops of each into my diffuser and turn it on.
I like to change it up and try different diffuser blends. It creates a wonderful aroma, naturally, and its just a really nice way to start the day.
Next, I do my stretching. I have a few yoga poses I’ve picked up over the years, and I move through those, helping my body stretch out the kinks that seem to have developed in my 64 year old body. Once I’m done, if I still feel any kinks, I’ll put on some OrthoEase massage oil and just rub that in. It is so soothing and seems to warm up as you rub it in.
I usually drink my coffee while doing some work on my laptop, reading articles, and posting on my social media sites.
My husband and I love our fruit in the morning, so I usually cut up some fruit and have some breakfast before having a shower.
My favourite soap is Charcoal Bar Soap by Young Living. It is just beautiful, and of course is infused with essential oils. I also love the shampoos and conditioners that Young Living makes, especially the Copaiba Vanilla shampoo and conditioner. It works great and smells amazing!
Before getting my socks on, I put essential oils onto the bottoms of my feet. Why do I do this, you ask? Well, all of your reflexology points are on the bottoms of your feet, so when you rub essential oils into them, you are basically giving your whole body the benefits of those oils.
I choose a different essential oil every day, depending on my mood, or what’s going on with my body. If I need some extra energy one day, I’ll choose the blend En-R-Gee which is a blend of Rosemary, juniper, lemongrass, nutmeg, Idaho balsam fir, clove, and black pepper.
If I’m feeling anxious or nervous about something, I’ll choose Valor or Peace & Calming. I drop a couple of drops of the essential oil onto my left palm (because it’s the closest to my heart) and rub it in, then I bring my hands up to my nose, cup my hand and breathe deeply.
The whole process only takes about two minutes, but the impact is huge. You are actually creating a healthy habit, and rewiring your brain to believe that you are worth the effort of incorporating self-care into your daily routine.
I take a few supplements every day as well, Sulphurzyme, Super B,Super C, Super D, all, (you guessed it) infused with essential oils.
And I drink a shot of NingXia Red each morning too! My husband and I clink glasses and say "Cheers!" Kind of a fun start to our day.
Then I’m ready to take on the rest of my day! I always have essential oils in my purse, just in case I need them. My Must-Haves are Lavender and Thieves, but I will often just bring whichever one I’m into that day. There are lots of great blends that I like to put on and wear just as a “perfume”, like Believe and Abundance,
Once I’m done drinking coffee in the morning, I’ll switch to “tea”, which is just hot water with Lemon+ essential oil and honey. It tastes great, and my digestive system loves it.
At the end of the day, I wind down with Lavender on the bottoms of my feet, on my shoulders and by breathing it in. Peace & Calming is also great for getting your body and mind ready for relaxing and sleep. You can also start up your diffuser in the bedroom, with some Lavender or Seedlings Calm, or KidScents DreamEase.
There are so many ways to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine! Throughout the day, every time I wash my hands, I’m using Thieves Foaming Hand Soap. When I wash my vegetables and fruit, I’m using Thieves Fruit & Veggie Spray. When I clean my countertops, I’m using Thieves Household Cleaner. You get the picture.
And you guessed it….all of these products are formulated with Young Living essential oils and plant based ingredients.
It’s easy to use essential oils throughout your day. It doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t need to know everything about essential oils and their benefits before you start. The important thing is just to start. You can do your reading and participate in info sessions as you go along, but just start. Get yourself a Starter Bundle. Young Living has several great options. And then just start by turning on your diffuser, or putting a couple of drops onto the bottoms of your feet every morning. You body, mind and spirit will thank you.
