Brrr It's Cold Out

Wow, Mother Nature is really trying to freeze us out. I don't know about you, but this is the coldest I EVER remember. Back in Oregon when I was a kid it would snow and we had so much fun building snowman, making snow angels. One time I even made a whole snowman family, daddy, mommy and a child. I remember bundling in many many layers.

Going camping we had to wear the right amount of socks and the right kind. Too little or the wrong kind your feet freeze and too many your feet sweat and then are colder because they are wet. Well the other day when it was 0 degrees F I thought I'll try my Heat Holders socks I got for Christmas. Why did I buy them then. Well just to try them out and now was the perfect opportunity.

So my husband said his socks that he thought were pretty good must be worn out because his feet were cold. How were my feet. They were roasty toasty, but not sweating. Great investment. If you want to check them out https://sovrn.co/qn6m3ls here you go. If not no big deal.

Have a wonderful day!
Wow, Mother Nature is really testing our tolerance for the cold this winter. It's unbelievable how freezing it is outside! As I reminisce about my childhood in Oregon, I can't help but remember all the fun times I had playing in the snow. Building snowmen, making snow angels, and even creating an entire snow family – those were the good old days.

Speaking of staying warm, I realized just how important it is to wear the right kind of socks during these frigid temperatures. When I went camping, I always had to carefully choose the right amount and type of socks to wear. Too little or the wrong kind would result in freezing feet, but wearing too many would make my feet sweat, ultimately making them even colder. It was a delicate balance, to say the least.

Recently, when the temperature dropped to a bone-chilling 0 degrees Fahrenheit, I decided to put my new Heat Holders socks to the test. I received them as a Christmas gift, and little did I know they would come in so handy. While my husband complained that his previously dependable socks were no longer doing their job, my feet were nice and toasty – the perfect investment for these freezing days.

If you're interested in checking out these fantastic Heat Holders socks, you can find them here: https://sovrn.co/qn6m3ls. But hey, no pressure. I understand if they're not your cup of tea. I just thought I'd share my positive experience.

Stay warm and have an absolutely wonderful day, no matter how bitterly cold it may be out there!

Are You Like Me?

If you are anything like me you would much rather put others before yourself. Well that is how I use to be. As I found out in 2023 you can’t give and give and give of yourself, especially to people who might not appreciate it. For if you do it can REALLY break you!

Moving forward, I'm going to do a few things differently. First, pray, read a Bible verse or two, something to make sure I’m tapping into the Power of a Higher Being, to me God. If we give everything to Him, then things tend to work out better. I say better which doesn’t always mean the way that we think they should, it means the way He has planned for us.
Secondly, I’m facing my fears, jumping into my feelings more and seeing what to do to change them. As I said in my story post there’s about a month or so of this year that I have a hard time remembering what happened. What was going on then, how was I feeling? Well, I can tell you I had A LOT of anxiety and definitely some depression. I joined a program that has helped me tremendously. I listened to some books “Thriving with Anxiety” and "Take Control of Your Life”. All of these talk about self-care. If your tank is not full it is going to be hard to take care of others.
So the third thing for now is I’m learning more about what self-care is and then making sure I take action. There is so much research out there on the subject of self-care. One article says there are 7 aspects;

Mental - manage stress
Emotional - practice gratitude, setting boundaries
Physical - basic nutrition, hydration, exercise
Environmental - having a space where you feel calm
Spiritual - nourishing our inner being, taking care of matters of the heart
Recreational- hobbies, fun ideas, new activities
Social - connections with others

The social aspect should be nurtured regularly because it affects our mental health, our mental health affects our physical and so on.

I’ll be covering more details of these 7 aspects in later posts. Leave a comment if there is something you do for self-care? Or if there is an area you want help with.

Building a Like-Minded Community: Discover Your Beliefs, Dreams, and Goals

Did you ever just want to fit in? To belong to something? Whether it is going to school, going to church, joining a group or even at work for the most part we want to be around people who “get us”. One way to do this is to be around like-minded people. If you want to be more positive you can’t surround yourself with negative people and expect you will miraculously become more positive. If you want to eat healthy but everyone around you just wants to eat junk food, it’s going to be real hard for you to eat healthy. Now, does this mean NEVER be around these people NO. We are always going to have family members, friends, coworkers, etc that get us in different ways, that are just fun to be around, that we can learn something from, or that inspire us in other ways.

Before you can surround yourself with like minded people you have to know what are your beliefs, dreams, and goals. What energizes you? What can you see yourself doing that you don’t already do? What impact do you want to have with your friends, community and maybe even the world? If you like to go camping, don’t just join a group that like to go camping. Join one that likes tent camping, or camper camping. Believe in yourself. You can do it! Take a few minutes, say up to an hour and write down everything that comes to your mind that you enjoy or have a desire to do. After an hour at the most STOP and come back to it later so you are not too overwhelmed.

Once you find a person, a group or a community to belong to, think about what can I give to this instead of what can I get from it. What can I add instead of just taking? When we do that we build relationships with people that can trust us.
Be okay with this taking time. Miracles don’t generally happen overnight. Just like planting a garden, you have to plant the seeds, then water, and cultivate the seeds before they will produce flowers, fruit, vegetables, or whatever you planted. Sometimes this can take weeks, months or even years. That’s okay! Relationships take time to grow, for people to trust you, but then you can have people that stay around and that you connect with for a lifetime.

Journaling Can Help Your Well-Being

In our fast-paced, digital world, finding a moment of stillness and reflection can feel like a rare treasure. However, incorporating journaling into your daily routine can have a profound effect on your overall well-being. Whether it's expressing gratitude, exploring self-care, deepening your connection with spiritual practices like prayer, or simply emptying your racing thoughts onto the page, journaling offers a myriad of benefits that can positively impact your mental, emotional, and even physical health.

One of the undeniable advantages of journaling is its ability to provide a record of personal growth and reflection. By capturing your thoughts, aspirations, and experiences on paper, you create a tangible timeline of your journey. At the end of the year, you can review these entries and witness the progress you've made, celebrate your accomplishments, and gain insights into areas of improvement.

Beyond providing a record, journaling serves as an effective stress relief tool. We all encounter situations that weigh heavily on our minds, causing stress and worry. By writing down these situations and exploring potential outcomes, we begin to engage our brain in problem-solving mode. This process not only helps us gain clarity but also empowers us to view challenges from various perspectives, fostering creativity and resilience in the face of adversity.

Additionally, journaling provides a safe space to acknowledge and address anxiety. Often, it can be challenging to pinpoint the root cause of our anxiety. By regularly recording your thoughts and emotions, you can identify patterns, triggers, and recurring themes. This self-awareness opens the door for growth and transformation as you develop strategies to tackle underlying issues, ultimately leading to a calmer and more balanced state of mind.

The beauty of journaling lies in its versatility. It can be customized to suit your unique needs, preferences, and goals. Whether you prefer dedicating a mere moment each day to express gratitude or embarking on a deep dive into self-care practices, journaling can be adapted to support various aspects of your life. Moreover, it can become a treasured sanctuary where you consult your inner voice, finding solace, guidance, and inspiration.

As you embark on your journaling journey, remember that the process matters more than the outcome. Embrace the freedom of self-expression without judgment or pressure. Clarity and Valor are some oils that can help.

So, grab a pen and a notebook, or a journal dedicated to one subject or an electronic journal, and start reaping the transformative benefits of journaling. Take a moment each day to honor your thoughts, nurture your soul, and unlock a world of self-discovery and personal growth. Give yourself the gift of this simple yet powerful practice, and watch as it empowers you to thrive in all areas of your life.
