Twenty-eight years ago, I had a life changing experience during the pregnancy of my third child, Joseph. I went into heavy labor, six weeks too early after taking an airplane flight. Because we lived an hour away from the nearest hospital, all I could think of to do is pray. I asked God to show me if there was anything in our home strong enough to stop heavy labor. To my absolute amazement I heard the words “Oil of Lavender”. I had never used essential oils before and knew nothing about them. Three months earlier I had been given a bottle of Lavender oil by a gentleman who attended a health seminar I was teaching, so it was just sitting in my pantry. My husband put 25 drops on my stomach and several drops on the bottoms of my feet, and in 45 seconds my heavy labor stopped. This was the beginning of an intense 28-year study of what I now call, “God’s Medicine” as I had never seen anything like this.
Today, as a Certified Wellness Coach, and health author, my heart is to see people enjoying a vibrant life, through exercise, good food choices, and the use of daily essential plant oils for maximum wellness, body, mind and spirit. God gave us one body that is designed to serve us well for a lifetime. Just like reading scripture, which contains layers and layers of wisdom, the understanding of Biblical essential oils, continues to be a lifelong study for me because of the unique and complex molecules of each oil.
In this blog, I’d like to share with you some of the most basic yet powerful oils our family uses on a daily basis. While I work with over 200 oils, most families can start with these basic oils and enjoy some beautiful benefits in their everyday life.

Purification oil blend
Need to clear the air? The Purification® essential oil blend has a bright, crisp, citrusy blend that banishes odors and leaves your space smelling clean without the harsh synthetics of air fresheners. Add it to cleaning solutions for an odor-busting boost, diffuse it to freshen stale air, or drop it onto cotton balls and stash them anywhere you want to keep things fresh. It is also soothing to your skin for everyday irritations.
Purification® essential oil blend is a combination of Citronella, Lavandin, Lemongrass, Myrtle, Rosemary, and Tea Tree that is formulated for diffusing to neutralize and cleanse your home and work environment.
Suggested Uses - Add a few drops to natural dryer balls to give your laundry a bright-smelling boost.
- Apply it topically to cleanse and soothe the skin.
- Place a few drops on cotton balls and stash them anywhere that can use additional freshness: air vents, drawers, shoes, garbage cans, etc.
- Use in the car with Young Living's Car Vent Diffuser to fight lingering food and gym bag odors.
- Add to a glass spray bottle with water and spritz it on linens.
Lavender is a very "universal oil" and has so many uses! When in doubt, keep lavender with you at all times.
Suggested Uses- When you are ready to relax in the afternoon, try putting a drop of Lavender in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and then cup hands over your nose and inhale slowly. Do this for as long as desired.
- At night, fill up a nice warm bath, take a cup of Epsom salt and add 3-5 drops of lavender. Mix together and then pour into bath for a relaxing soak.
- After exposure to sun for long amounts of time, Lavender can be soothing to the skin. Take a spray bottle with about 2 ounces of water, add 5-10 drops of Lavender and spritz over affected areas. Continue spritzing on skin multiple times a day if needed.
- If skin gets exposed to high heat and is uncomfortable, applying a drop of Lavender to the affected area can be soothing and supportive of healthy looking skin.
- Try diffusing Lavender before bed at night or when you're ready to relax. Also applying 1-3 drops on the bottoms of each foot can promote a restful night sleep.
Peppermint oil contains menthol for an invigorating aroma and a cooling sensation that soothes fatigued muscles. When taken internally, it promotes healthy bowel function, supports gastrointestinal system comfort, and adds a fresh, minty flavor to foods
Suggested Uses- Add it to Young Living® V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex and massage to the abdomen for a soothing experience. This is especially nice after a meal when you're feeling little full.
- Diffuse it for a refreshing breathing experience during the cold winter months.
- Diffuse Peppermint oil’s sharp aroma while working or doing homework.
- Apply it topically to your temples, feet, shoulders, neck, or scalp or to tired muscles following physical activity for a cooling sensation.
- Mix it with Lavender oil or LavaDerm™ After-Sun Spray and apply to skin after a day in the sun for an added cooling sensation.
- Add it to your toothpaste or mouth rinse for fresher breath.
Deep Relief Roll-On is a favorite for Soothing sore muscles. This blend combines cooling essential oils like Peppermint and Wintergreen with warming Clove, cozy Copaiba, and other comforting oils to cool tired muscles and joints after physical activity and deliver a cool-on-contact sensation for shoulders, neck, and temples.
Suggested Uses:
Apply generously on temples or back of neck.
Roll onto muscles for a refreshing, cooling sensation.

Extravagant joy is the first thought that comes to mind as I share the memories of our 30th Annual Young Living Convention with you. This blog will attempt to share the highlights. As one of our first time Convention attendees, Cory Barker, stated, “I’ve been living vicariously through you girls for two years, and now, there is just nothing like being in the atmosphere with so many health extraordinary people…it is so life giving”!
There was so much love shared beginning with Mary Young’s opening address. As someone who passionately believes in the business model of Network Marketing, Mary shared her commitment to all of us that Young Living will remain a privately owned company and will retain the business model of Network Marketing, so that we will be able to build a solid family legacy business for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. This was deeply comforting, as several companies very recently abandoned their hard-working distributors and chose profit over people. For 30 years, Young Living has chosen people first and I am deeply grateful to the entire Young family as well as the Executive team leadership at corporate.
The Royal Dream Team shined bright at Convention! If you are new and reading this, our Royal Crown Diamond team began 28 years ago and together we have helped thousands of people across the globe learn the enormous value of adding essential oils into their daily lives. Great leaders like Pamela Hunter, Jan Weger, Carol Shirr, Claudia Lucia Leon Bleich, Beverly Banks, Elizabeth Rose, Daniel Williams, and so many others celebrated 30 years of being able to add value to people’s life through Young Living products. Amidst this grand celebration, we also mourned the loss of two of our beautiful members this year; Diamond, Laura Peiffer from Michigan, and Wanda Kennedy from Iowa. Each of these grand women made their unforgettable mark in the world for health freedom.
