Citrus Burst Body Wash

Citrus Burst Body Wash
I've been waiting on that perfect recipe for some good body wash that lathers really well (hard to do with castile soap), smells great, and makes you feel nice and soft afterward. Since I typically shower in the morning, I thought a good Citrus blend would be great at waking me up. I was right! This stuff smells awesome!  Summer is right around the corner and this Citrus blend is perfect.

What you'll need:

  • A glass bottle to keep your body wash in. Citrus oils are so potent that they will eat through plastic. They will also leach any toxins out of it. I opted for an olive oil bottle found at Walmart for under $3. It doesn't have a lid you need to worry about opening, and is small enough to sit on the corner shelf of my shower.
  • 8oz. Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (I use Baby Mild)
  • 20 drops Vitamin E Oil
  • 4 tsp. Vegetable Glycerine
  • 40 drops Young Living Orange Essential Oil
  • 40 drops Young Living Grapefruit  Essential Oil
I just started out with putting in the castile soap, then added all of the other ingredients, saving the essential oil for last. Once everything was added in, I shook it up really well. The vegetable glycerin is the secret to the suds. I really need things to lather for me to feel like they are getting me clean. This worked with my body poof, but I think a sponge would be even better. Just plan on shaking it up a little to get everything mixed well before each use. This is such a better, natural alternative to store bought body wash - no chemicals!

Thieves Wipes Recipe

Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner is perfect to use to make your own wipes. It is super easy! Right now it is probably my favorite DIY non-toxic home cleaner.

As I said, these are super easy to make. First you will need paper towels. I used and recommend VIVA paper towels. These are a full sheet and are still strong when wet. A full size sheet is important because you will be cutting the roll in half.

So let’s get started. First, cut the paper towels in half. A serrated knife works pretty good. I have a monster paper cutter at my office and it works great to cut a roll in half in a matter of seconds, but I know not many homes will have one, thus, the knife is a good choice!

Next, remove the cardboard center. I used my thumbs wedged between the cardboard and the last paper towel sheet. Once my thumbs met I collapsed the tube and then twisted and pulled it out. It also pulled the inside paper towel sheet out of the center which is exactly what I wanted to happen. You can discard the cardboard tube.

Put the paper towels in a container. I used a large container from the bulk food section of Whole Foods. It is a great way to re-purpose a container, plus it was free! You got that part, right? Free! You can use any kind of container you like, but it should have a cover so the towels don’t dry out.  Mix together 1 1/2 cups of distilled water and one cap full of Young Living Household Cleaner in a measuring cup. Begin pouring the liquid in to the center and work your way out to the outer edge.

Let the paper towels absorb the liquid. The first time I made this I used two cups of liquid and it was way too wet so using 1 1/2 cups worked out well. If they are too dry, or dry out, you can always add more liquid later. And that’s it! You are done. You could add a cute little label to your container

Now here is another reason to make and use these wipes: cost. $1.50 for about 50 wipes compared to the toxic Clorox wipes for $5.83 at Walmart for 35 wipes. But the biggest reason is they are not toxic and safe for your home, children and pets, and are a great disinfectant.

Triple a Bottle of Thieves Mouthwash

Triple a Bottle of Thieves Mouthwash
Our families deserve more than chemical mouthwashes with neon artificial coloring that are clearly labeled, “do not swallow!” Typical store-bought mouthwash is loaded with chemicals, alcohol and artificial coloring.  They have some pretty scary labels warning you not to swallow and to get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away if you should accidentally.  Yikes!  I don’t want those scary chemicals around my family.

I love the benefits of having an all-natural mouthwash and knowing that it doesn’t have any chemicals or artificial colors.  My favorite is Thieves mouthwash because it has Young Living essential oils, it’s safe, if swallowed you don’t have to call poison control, it’s cinna-minty fresh and provides excellent oral care for my family.  Check out some of these impressive ingredients:

Deionized Water, Peppermint Oil, Clove Flower Bud Oil, Spearmint Leaf Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Cinnamon Bark Oil, Vetiver Root Oil, Eucalyptus Radiata, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Vitamin E, Colloidal Silver…
My husband loves to use Thieves mouthwash too and he likes to use plenty of it with each gargle!  In fact, he uses so much of it that we would run out every month before my next Essential Rewards order. We only ran out by a few days, so I started experimenting to come up with a way of extending the amount we get out of a bottle.  I’ve come up with a recipe that is the equivalent of about 3 bottles of the Thieves mouthwash for not much more than the price of one.  Here’s what you will need:
  • 1 Bottle of Thieves Mouthwash
  • 1 beautiful, up-cycled wine bottle or an empty NingXia Red bottle
  • Distilled water
  • 5 drops of Thieves essential oil
  • 5 drops of Spearmint essential oil
  • 2 drops of Cinnamon bark essential oil
Carefully pour your mouthwash into the bottle and top off with distilled water, leaving room for the essential oils.  As you can see, I filled the bottle just up to the neck of the bottle.  Add your essential oils.  Shake before each use.
I really can’t tell a measurable difference in taste between this recipe and the full strength Thieves mouthwash.  This makes the mouthwash a super value!  I hope you try it and I hope you love it!

Be blessed and stay oily!

Meet Dana Leibfried

We are are family of four that live on a hobby farm with all kinds of barn yard critters in a rural Minnesota community.  Young Living has changed our life, given us hope, and empowered us to take charge of our health and our family's. Before I found Young Living, I knew that my lifestyle was unhealthy, but I didn’t care because I was very pessimistic about my future health. My future of wellness is within my control; there is no need to play the victim. God provided us with everything that we need on this earth to not only to survive, but to thrive.  I feel empowered as a mom to take better care of my family, and I love knowing I am giving them the best!  Young Living’s oils and products have offered support to mine and my family's  wellness I have not felt with other products. The oils are an easy and safe solution for my whole family’s needs. The oils smooth out our day, and my only regret is not finding them sooner.  With the help of Young Living, my family and I now reap the natural bounty that God has given to us!
