How Can I Afford a Chemical Free Life Style

How Can I Afford a Chemical Free Life Style
This is a great article on how most of us that are using Young Living in our life started out.  We wanted a better life not just for ourselves but for our family and the people around us.  It all begins here:

HOW CAN I AFFORD THE PRODUCTS?
Everyone brushes their teeth, washes their hair, takes a vitamin, uses mouthwash, uses lotion, has a favorite face cream, and cleans their house. Why not just use the SAME BUDGET you would normally spend at a retail establishment and now begin to purchase from yourself on your own YL account.

Now it will not seem like such a big amount of money each month. You are simply changing where you shop. You are making better choices for your health with a quality product giving additional health benefits, however, the money you are spending is similar to what you already are spending on similar products.

You may find it interesting and fun to track your spending for three months. You may find that you are already spending additional dollars on power drinks, snack bars, digestive issues, headaches remedies. Then when stress leads to lack of
sleep or illness, now you are adding co-pays. You may want to try a “staying healthy” budget using Young Living products. When you use oil-infused products throughout your entire lifestyle it may add up to feeling strong and energetic. As a result, you may feel more productive and healthy.

Life is too short. Who has time to be sick - especially when we have quality
products for lifestyle support.

I was very skeptical in the beginning. Maybe you are too? I remember a lady at my Bible study put Frankincense under my nose and I actually thought it smelled awful. I was so used to sweet Bath and Body Works fragrance (synthetic) smells. Long story short, I became intrigued and started reading essential oil books and magazine articles but I was not totally on board with the idea—yet. The more I used the oils and had more experiences, I realized that I had developed a passion for Young Living products. They were something every family needed for everyday life and vitality!

HOW DO I GET MORE SAVINGS?
Young Living has this great customer loyalty program called Essential Rewards! It is the best customer loyalty program I have seen. My credit card only gives me 5% on points back as a loyal customer. My local gas station gives 2% savings as a loyal customer. Young Living gives 10%-25% back in product credit points to their loyal customers. It is so generous.

Young Living Essential Rewards is based on personal volume (PV). Personal Volume is the value assigned to the product. In the U.S. market, the value of the PV is typical that of the dollar amount, however, on some products the PV is lower. In other countries, the PV value keeps all money exchange rates equivalent to the personal value of the product.

Most people typically spend $250-$300 per month on my Essential Rewards because they make a list of ALL the products they purchased from three different stores. Many people find that sometimes the Young Living products LOOK more expensive but when one looks over how many months they last; you will find you actually save money.

For example: When the Thieves Household Cleaner is diluted according to the directions, I literally save HALF of my cleaning budget over a 10-month time period. Isn’t that awesome? (It’s like buying bulk at Costco.) More important
than cost is the fact that when I clean, I leave behind additional health benefits. No other cleaner does that. There are many green cleaners, but I have found that when I use Thieves, I am joyful that the residue left on my floors and my
counters is actually health benefiting when I walk barefoot on my floors or lean on my counter. AND…everything I wash down my drain is benefiting our water system and the ecology of my community.

Another example: I love, love, love the Ningxia Red! Ningxia Red is my sustained vitality source! It is nutrient dense dark berries so it has the amino acids for so many body needs but also has all the good nutrients for cognitive function! Also, with the oils added to the dark berries there are two additional benefits that make it so unique. Oils are cleansing in nature so I like to think of
my Ningxia Red as a tonic. It is cleansing and supportive for the body so being healthy means one has better assimilation of nutrients and my brain works better when I drink it!!!

Check out the Young Living customer loyalty program called Essential Rewards. You will find you can SAVE MONEY and the results of the Young Living lifestyle? Energy, productivity, joy!

PEPPERMINT & EUCALYPTUS SHOWER MELTS

PEPPERMINT & EUCALYPTUS SHOWER MELTS
This is a great recipe I found online and have made them, shower melts are wonderful to have on hand.  Only thing is when you open up the oven after they are done backing be prepared for a burst of "Vicks" smell.  http://madincrafts.com/peppermint-eucalyptus-shower-melts/

Oh, spring.  Why do you always seem to bring some kind of cold or respiratory virus along with you?  There has been a passing of cough and cold bug around the area for the past few weeks, and I wanted a way to relieve a bit of our stuffiness.  Hot showers usually help during the day and a diffuser at night, but what if I could combine those two things into one?  I made these eucalyptus and peppermint shower melts to try to do just that.

The melts are made from essential oils and baking soda.  The baking soda is just a vehicle to get the oils into the shower’s steam. I chose to use peppermint and eucalyptus oils because they remind me of the smell of Vicks.  If you would rather, you could use citrus oils or lavender in your shower melts.

Begin by thoroughly mixing 1/3 cup of water into 1 cup of baking soda.  The mixture will not seem very wet, which is a good thing.  If your mixture is too wet it will take forever to bake.

After you have mixed the water and soda, add in 20 drops of eucalyptus oil and 20 drops of peppermint oil.  You can adjust the amount based on your personal preferences, but that is a good ratio from which to start.

Stir the oils into the soda mixture, and then spoon the mixture into a muffin tin.  I used a silicone mini muffin pan, which works really well for this project.  The silicone makes it easy to pop the finished discs out without smashing them.  However, the silicone pan is pretty floppy, so be careful when you carry it.

Bake the mixture in a 350 oven for 20 minutes.   If you are using a metal pan or a regular sized silicone muffin pan, your bake time may vary.  I would suggest setting a timer for 20 minutes and then checking on the discs every 5 minutes after that to see if they are fully dried.

Remove the pan from the oven, and let the whole thing cool.

Before you pop the discs out of the pan, add a few more drops of the essential oils to each disc for added scent.   Store the discs in an airtight container until use.  Humidity is the enemy of these little guys.

If you are feeling stuffed up, or if you just want an amazing smelling shower, place one or two discs at the end of your shower farthest from the shower head.  That way the water will still hit the discs, but it won’t dissolve them immediately.
These shower melts are meant to be used in the shower.  DO NOT use them in a bath.  DO NOT use them in a humidifier.  DO NOT eat the shower melts.  That would just be dumb.

The bonus of these shower melts, unlike with other spa products, is that they are actually good for your shower drain.  After you finish your shower, pour a little white vinegar down the drain to combine with the baking soda and loosen up the gunk down there.  I can’t promise that it will clean out your drains, but it should not hurt them.

Citrus Burst Body Wash

Citrus Burst Body Wash
I've been waiting on that perfect recipe for some good body wash that lathers really well (hard to do with castile soap), smells great, and makes you feel nice and soft afterward. Since I typically shower in the morning, I thought a good Citrus blend would be great at waking me up. I was right! This stuff smells awesome!  Summer is right around the corner and this Citrus blend is perfect.

What you'll need:

  • A glass bottle to keep your body wash in. Citrus oils are so potent that they will eat through plastic. They will also leach any toxins out of it. I opted for an olive oil bottle found at Walmart for under $3. It doesn't have a lid you need to worry about opening, and is small enough to sit on the corner shelf of my shower.
  • 8oz. Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (I use Baby Mild)
  • 20 drops Vitamin E Oil
  • 4 tsp. Vegetable Glycerine
  • 40 drops Young Living Orange Essential Oil
  • 40 drops Young Living Grapefruit  Essential Oil
I just started out with putting in the castile soap, then added all of the other ingredients, saving the essential oil for last. Once everything was added in, I shook it up really well. The vegetable glycerin is the secret to the suds. I really need things to lather for me to feel like they are getting me clean. This worked with my body poof, but I think a sponge would be even better. Just plan on shaking it up a little to get everything mixed well before each use. This is such a better, natural alternative to store bought body wash - no chemicals!

Thieves Wipes Recipe

Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner is perfect to use to make your own wipes. It is super easy! Right now it is probably my favorite DIY non-toxic home cleaner.

As I said, these are super easy to make. First you will need paper towels. I used and recommend VIVA paper towels. These are a full sheet and are still strong when wet. A full size sheet is important because you will be cutting the roll in half.

So let’s get started. First, cut the paper towels in half. A serrated knife works pretty good. I have a monster paper cutter at my office and it works great to cut a roll in half in a matter of seconds, but I know not many homes will have one, thus, the knife is a good choice!

Next, remove the cardboard center. I used my thumbs wedged between the cardboard and the last paper towel sheet. Once my thumbs met I collapsed the tube and then twisted and pulled it out. It also pulled the inside paper towel sheet out of the center which is exactly what I wanted to happen. You can discard the cardboard tube.

Put the paper towels in a container. I used a large container from the bulk food section of Whole Foods. It is a great way to re-purpose a container, plus it was free! You got that part, right? Free! You can use any kind of container you like, but it should have a cover so the towels don’t dry out.  Mix together 1 1/2 cups of distilled water and one cap full of Young Living Household Cleaner in a measuring cup. Begin pouring the liquid in to the center and work your way out to the outer edge.

Let the paper towels absorb the liquid. The first time I made this I used two cups of liquid and it was way too wet so using 1 1/2 cups worked out well. If they are too dry, or dry out, you can always add more liquid later. And that’s it! You are done. You could add a cute little label to your container

Now here is another reason to make and use these wipes: cost. $1.50 for about 50 wipes compared to the toxic Clorox wipes for $5.83 at Walmart for 35 wipes. But the biggest reason is they are not toxic and safe for your home, children and pets, and are a great disinfectant.
