Some weeks just don’t go as planned.
This one was supposed to include my surgery—but life had other ideas. A little illness swooped in and pressed pause on those plans. So instead of recovery mode, I’ve been in “rest and regroup” mode (and honestly, my body probably needed that too).
If you’ve ever had days—or whole weeks—when your energy feels low and your to-do list keeps growing, this one’s for you. Because even when you can’t take a full day off, there are small ways to recharge. These are my favorite five-minute pick-me-ups that actually make a difference.
1. Breathe Like You Mean It
We take about 20,000 breaths a day… but most of them are shallow.
When you’re running on empty, stop and try this:
Inhale slowly for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6.
Repeat for one minute.
It tells your nervous system, “Hey, we’re safe,” and your body responds by letting go of tension and boosting oxygen flow. You’ll feel calmer and more awake.
2. Hydration = Instant Energy
Fatigue is often dehydration in disguise.
Start your day with a big glass of water (before the coffee) and keep sipping throughout the day. Add a splash of citrus or a drop of vitality oil for flavor and extra pep. It’s a simple mini-reset for your brain and body.
3. Tap It Out
Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) is one of my favorite quick resets.
When your mind feels foggy or your emotions start to spiral, take a minute to gently tap on your collarbone or along the side of your hand while repeating:
“Even though I feel tired right now, I choose to support my body with kindness.”
You’d be amazed how quickly your mood and focus shift. Add a drop of an uplifting essential oil on your wrists or heart center for extra support.
If this sparks your curiosity and you want to learn how to use tapping for deeper emotional balance, I have an online class available where you can explore it step-by-step in a simple, approachable way.
4. Step Outside
Even a short walk around the yard or to the mailbox can boost circulation, mood, and focus. Nature has a way of grounding us—especially when life feels heavy.
Fresh air + movement = instant clarity.
If you can, leave your phone behind and just breathe in the quiet.
5. Diffuse a Boost
Certain scents can do wonders for your energy.
Here are a few of my go-to blends:
- Citrus Fresh + Peppermint → bright and invigorating
- Lemon + Rosemary → fresh focus blend
- Bergamot + Eucalyptus Radiata → mood lift with calm clarity
Turn on your diffuser, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Sometimes that’s all it takes to reset your entire afternoon.
When You Need a Reminder…
Life doesn’t always go as planned (trust me, I’m living that this week).
But your body is always communicating what it needs—rest, movement, hydration, breath, connection. When you honor those signals, even small steps can create big shifts in how you feel.
Here’s your gentle reminder: you don’t have to power through; you can pause and recharge.
Repeat these positive affirmations to yourself...
* I am resilient and can overcome life's challenges.
* I am strong and have the power to make the right choices for me.
* I am grateful for what I can do.
