Finding Yourself Again, Gently
Have you ever had the quiet thought, “I don’t quite feel like myself anymore”?
Can I meet you there, friend?
Can I meet you there, friend?
It can happen after seasons of caregiving, health challenges, grief, hormonal shifts, or simply years of pouring yourself out for others. It can happen in the thick of hard seasons that seem never-ending. We can lose our sense of worth, our direction, and our purpose.
When my youngest was five years old, I sustained a fairly low-key hamstring injury—only to be faced with an ongoing cascade of challenges. I thought losing myself during pregnancy and the years of raising babies was hard. This has been a whole new experience - 54 months and healing.
But here’s what I’ve learned: finding yourself again doesn’t require a big overhaul or dramatic change. Often, it begins gently—with permission to slow down and reconnect with who God created you to be right now.
In tender seasons, we can feel pressure to “bounce back” or return to an old version of ourselves. But healing isn’t linear, and growth doesn’t always move in a straight line. Sometimes it looks like taking steps forward, then circling back, resting, relearning, or even stumbling (trust me, I know this well)—and discovering that God meets us there too. Growth often comes through what feels like going backward, as we learn, reflect, and allow grace to shape us more deeply.
Finding yourself again isn’t about becoming who you once were; it’s about discovering who you are becoming—through grace, honesty, and the willingness to keep walking with God, even when the path feels uneven.
Shall we journey together, friend?

One Joy Tip: Reconnect, Don’t Rush
Instead of asking, “How do I get back to myself?” try asking:
“What helps me feel most like me today?”
“What helps me feel most like me today?”
It might be journaling, sitting in silence with God, gentle movement, a creative outlet, or simply resting without guilt. These small moments of reconnection help you listen to your heart again—and joy often follows when we stop rushing the process.
Simple, but powerful.
Scripture to Hold for Joy
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:6

Joy for the Journey
You don’t need to rush your healing or redefine yourself overnight. A quick fix is not the answer. Finding yourself again happens one gentle step at a time. Joy meets us when we allow God to restore us in His timing, not ours.
