It Smells Like JOY In Here
This year I wanted to try something different. Something I could do within my capacity that would fill my home with calm and JOY. Do you like trying new things?
This healing season has reminded me again how much my body craves slower rhythms — especially in December. When the world speeds up, I’m learning to create tiny moments of calm that help me breathe, reset, and reconnect with God’s peace. I'm embracing simple joys that tell my body, "You still can..." while cultivating joy in my home.
This new find will be one my favorite simple rituals to do with my kids this time of year. While life is still happening, kids are coming and going, chores are getting done, and the bustle of my home reminds me that I'm a blessed mom -- a cozy simmer pot fills our home with joy and calm. Everyone stops - takes a breath in, and says, "It smells SO good in here mom." It makes my heart smile, it fills my home with warmth, steadies my nervous system, and gently reminds me to slow down. You are still doing right in the simplicity of life...

It's the season for celebrating the birth of Jesus and spreading joy with others.
Joy Tip: 5 Minutes to Calm and Joy
A simmer pot is such an easy, sensory way to bring calm into your day. It takes 5 minutes or less.
Here’s the one I made with my daughter when she was home from college:

Scripture to Hold Close
"Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them, 'Do not be afraid!' he said. 'I bring you good news that will bring great JOY to all people. The Savior--yes, the Messiah, the Lord--has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David.'"— Luke 2:9-11
Joy for the Journey
May this simple JOY invite your body to slow down, your home to soften, and your heart to notice the joy God is tucking into ordinary moments. Less is more. Cultivate Joy in your home.
