He Gave Me a Day
For our 26th anniversary, my husband gave me one of the greatest gifts I could have asked for.
A day. Not a day filled with appointments, physical therapy, medical messages, or symptom tracking. Just a day together.
We enjoyed some time unplugged --"sitting on the dock of the bay wasting time..." We shared exceptional food and delicious espresso by the river, cafe con leche at one of our favorite Guy Fiere Triple D spots, laughed, and simply soaked in being present with one another.
One of my most precious memories was going kayaking. It may seem crazy considering my condition---but it was on my summer bucket list and he made it happen. I was in heaven on the lake away from everything. It reminded me that some of life's greatest gifts aren't things we can unwrap. They're moments we choose to protect.
Life will always be busy. There will always be another task waiting tomorrow. But relationships are built in the moments we intentionally make time for today.
As I look back on this summer, that day stands out as one of my greatest gifts. He took such good care of me--allowing me to dream even for a moment. God is faithful. God is good.
