Summer Went Too Fast...Or Did It?
Have you noticed how many people have been saying, "Summer is going by so fast!"? I've caught myself saying it too.
One week I was finishing up grading papers, and the next thing I knew, I was pulling out lesson plans and getting ready for another homeschool year. Somehow, August quietly found its way onto the calendar.
Before I let myself believe summer had disappeared, I decided to pause. I thought back over the last two months. Graduation Party for our third child (where did the time go?). Birthday celebrations. Coffee with a friend. Fresh basil growing on my windowsill. Teens worshiping in our living room. Laughter echoing through the house. New places. Deep conversations. Sunsets that stopped me in my tracks.
Suddenly, summer didn't feel short. It felt full. I wonder if we sometimes remember how quickly time passed instead of how beautifully it was spent.
So today, pause with me. Think back over your summer. What are three moments that made you smile?
Don't just list them. Relive them. Remember the aroma of the food, the sound of the laughter, the warmth of the sunshine, the conversation that filled your heart.
Were there hard days this summer? Absolutely. There were for me too. Don't let those difficult days erase the beautiful ones.
As we prepare for a new season, I don't want to rush past the one God has already given me. Maybe summer didn't go by too fast after all. Maybe it became a beautiful collection of moments worth remembering. That is where joy grows.
JOY-FUELED COACHING TIP
Grab your notebook and write down three joyful moments from this summer. Then, beside each one, write one detail you remember using your five senses. You'll be surprised how quickly those memories come alive again.
SCRIPTURE TO HOLD FOR JOY
"This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24
JOY FOR THE JOURNEY
