Sparkly Shoes & Small Victories
Have you ever reached a goal and moved on?
This summer reminded me that progress doesn't always come with fireworks. Sometimes, it comes wearing sparkly shoes.
This summer reminded me that progress doesn't always come with fireworks. Sometimes, it comes wearing sparkly shoes.
When I reached a milestone I'd been working toward for four years, I decided it deserved a celebration.
After four years of navigating chronic pain, MCAS, and countless setbacks, I walked 30 minutes through my neighborhood—no crutches, no help. So how did I celebrate?
A sweet friend bedazzled a pair of my sneakers! Now, every time I lace them up, they make me smile. They're a joyful reminder to keep pressing forward when the journey feels hard and to celebrate the small victories that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Around that same time, my physical therapist looked at me and said something I had never heard in over four years of rehab: "I'm so impressed."
Those words meant more than they probably realized.
Not because I had reached the finish line, but because someone who has walked this journey with me could see the progress.
Healing often happens so slowly that it's easy to miss.
One extra minute. One more step. A little more strength. A little more hope. Those small victories deserve to be celebrated. Because one day, you'll look back and realize they were never small at all.
What victory are you celebrating today? Be sure to comment so I can celebrate with you.

JOY-FUELED COACHING TIP
Celebrate one small win today. Write it down, thank God for it, and let yourself enjoy the progress you've made instead of only focusing on how far you have left to go.
Why? Because your brain is wired to repeat behaviors that feel rewarding. When you pause to celebrate a small victory, you're strengthening the habit and creating positive momentum for the next step. Small celebrations aren't just encouraging—they're helping build a pathway that makes it easier to keep moving forward.
SCRIPTURE TO HOLD FOR JOY
"Let us not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up." — Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
JOY FOR THE JOURNEY
Small victories are still victories. Celebrate every step forward. Don't wait for someone else to notice your progress. Celebrate it yourself!
