FAQ: Customer vs Brand Partner
FAQs

HOW TO UNLOCK THE 24% DISCOUNT
Q: How does a new customer get the 24% discount?
A: Customers are eligible for the 24% discount at sign-up if they do one of 2 things:
1. Purchase 100 PV or more on their first order.
2. Put at least 1 item on Subscribe to Save.
Q: If customers spend less than 100 PV on their first order, can they place multiple orders (over time adding up to 100 PV) to qualify them for the 24% discount?
A: Currently only the first single order of 100+PV will unlock the 24% discount… Otherwise they’ll need to put something on Subscribe to Save to get the discount.
Q: How long does the 24% discount last?
A: A Customer's first order of 100 PV unlocks the 24% discount for 12 months. After that, adding 1 or more items to Subscribe to Save will continue the discounted pricing. If a new customer first unlocks the 24% discount by placing an item on Subscribe to Save, they will need to keep at least 1 item on Subscribe to Save or make a 100 PV purchase to continue the discounted pricing.

SUBSCRIBE TO SAVE
Q: What is Subscribe to Save?
A: YL’s new subscription program that unlocks the 24% discount. You can put items in your Subscribe to Save at a 1, 2, or 3 month frequency.
Q: Can I do several Subscribe to Save orders in a month?
A: Your S2S order will ship once a month. Once it goes through, if you add something new to your S2S cart, it won’t ship until the next month’s subscription is processed. If you need more products after your S2S ships that month, you can do a regular “shop” order.
You can subscribe to as many things as you want throughout the month but your S2S will process and ship as one order each month (just like your ER does now).
For example, here’s how it works now: Let’s say your Essential Rewards order is scheduled to process on the 12th of the month and you go in on the 18th to add something… You have to wait till next month if you want to get that item through ER. If you really need that item before month end, you’ll need to place a shop order.
Here’s how it will work with the new system: If your S2S order processed on the 12th and you want to order something else on the 18th, you can either place a SHOP order to get it shipped immediately… OR you can add it to your S2S order for next month.
Q: If I put an item on Subscribe to Save to unlock the 24% discount and then next month cancel what’s in my S2S order, will I drop back to “retail” pricing?
A: Yes you’ll drop back to retail pricing. You can skip up to 3 months on S2S. But if you take all items off S2S or don’t order for 3 months you lose your 24% discount. But you can hop back on easily to S2S to get the discount back.
Q: When will my S2S order process?
A: Once you’re on the new shopping platform, your S2S order will process at 12:01am on the morning of their selected date. For example, if your S2S order date is the 12th, your S2S order will process at 12:01am on the morning of the 12th. It’s best practice to check your S2S cart the day BEFORE your processing date and make sure you have everything you need.
The only exception are S2S orders that are scheduled for the 1st of the month. In order to give people time to see the monthly “Gifts with Purchase” orders scheduled for the 1st will process at 12:01am on the 2nd.
Q: Will I be able to use account credits towards my monthly subscription?
A: Yes! Account credits can now be used toward subscription orders!!

LOYALTY REWARDS POINTS
Q: How do I qualify for the Loyalty Rewards points (the new name for Essential Rewards points)?
A: Customers and brand partners can both earn Loyalty Rewards points. To earn LR points + loyalty gifts, you simply must place a S2S order of at least 50 PV.
You don’t have to "sign up" for Loyalty Rewards. You simply place a S2S order that’s 50 PV or more and you’ll receive Loyalty Rewards points.
Q: Will I get Loyalty Rewards points if I’m on S2S at 50+ PV… but I’m not ordering monthly??
A: You’ll get 10% on any S2S order that is 50 PV or more. However, if you don’t place S2S orders every month - consecutively - you won’t increase your Loyalty Rewards points percentage from 10% to 20% and then to 25%. To earn higher point levels you’ll need to place consecutive orders.
You’ll start out earning 10% back in Loyalty Rewards points for a 50+ PV S2S order.
After being on S2S at 50+ PV for 3 consecutive months, you’ll start earning 20% back in Loyalty Rewards points. After being on S2S at 50+ PV for 24 consecutive months, you’ll start earning 25% back in Loyalty Rewards points.
Q: Will I earn LR points if I place a 50+ PV S2S order every other month?
A: You’ll earn 10% LR points on every 50+ PV S2S order - even if they’re every other month - but you’ll only earn 10% back in points each time.

Benefits of a sugar detox

Benefits of a sugar detox

Have you ever wanted to do a sugar detox?
Here are some reasons to consider doing a sugar detox:

1. We all eat more sugar than we need
2. It is difficult for some people to control sugar cravings
3. We often don’t realize how much sugar we are consuming
4. Too much sugar can have a serious impact on our health

ESSENTIAL OILS AND BLOOD SUGAR

Essential oils, are a highly concentrated substance containing the components of the plant it is derived from. These concentrated substances are usually made through the distillation process, which separates the plant’s water-based compounds and oil by steaming.
The essence can come from extracting or distilling different parts of the plant such as the peels, flowers, bark, and leaves.
There are certain essential oils that have been shown to help balance blood sugar, improve insulin resistance, support healthy liver function, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, boost the immune system, decrease stress hormones, and increase inner calm.

Several essential oils are believed or studied to have a beneficial effect on blood sugar levels, including:
  • Cinnamon  Bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum). Research studies have demonstrated that cinnamon helps lower glucose levels, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and increases insulin sensitivity in people with type 2 diabetes. Cinnamon oil is generally known for its powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties.
  • Coriander (Coriandrum sativum). Coriander helps lower blood sugar in two ways. It demonstrates insulin-like activity at a cellular level, and it facilitates insulin release from the pancreas. Studies reveal that coriander also reduces triglycerides, LDL, and total cholesterol, and is associated with increased HDL cholesterol.
  • Ocotea  is distilled from the leaves of Ocotea quixos, a large tree found in the Amazon wilderness on the west side of the Andes Mountains. Used historically for more than 500 years to flavor cakes and sweets, ocotea it is commonly referred to by the native people throughout Ecuador as false canela, or false cinnamon. Ocotea essential oil has a warm, spicy aroma that is similar to but more delicate than that of Cinnamon Bark. Honored as a spiritual oil for many years, Ocotea is still used in purification rituals today.
  • Clove  contains antioxidants and may provide immune and general wellness support.
  • Fennel Vitality has a licorice-like flavor and is fantastic in post-meal tonics and teas for digestive and general wellness support. In addition, it can be used to add a delicious flavor to sauces, soups, and marinades.*
There are various ways to use essential oils:
1. You can use a diffuser to inhale the fragrance of the oil you’ve chosen.  Mix 8 to 10 drops of the substance with water and pour it into a diffuser. The diffuser will break the substance apart into small molecules and disperse them through the air.  You could blend several of the oils if you have them.
2. You can also ingest the oil, but make sure you are using oils labeled for this use.
3. If applied topically, it takes approximately 20 minutes for the substance to affect cells in the body. It is metabolized in a few hours. Make sure to dilute the substance first. Add one to two drops of essential oil per one teaspoon of carrier oil.
4. Find a relaxing blend that contains Ocotea , Cinnamon or Clove and use it as a daily fragrance. For example, being in flight or fight mode or constant pressure may cause you to crave sugar.  Stress Away. contains Ocotea, and is available in a convenient rollerball.

It is important to consider the purity and therapeutic grade of the oils being used. Some of the oils I use can be inhaled, used topically, or ingested.  Search for cinnamon vitality here.

As we age, sometimes we see puffiness, dark circles and fine lines around the eyes.

Vitamins A, C, E, and Omega-3 can help reduce your risk of a common eye problem, also make sure you get the right amount of antioxidants through a healthy balanced and varied diet.

For healthy eyes, try these natural beauty tips:

  • Try to rest and get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. (melatonin may help)

Immune Health Hacks

Immune Health Hacks

If you are younger than 60, in good health and don't have too many bad habits, then your immune system is probably functioning well enough to keep you safe from almost any infectious disease.

The bad news is that as we age, our immune systems gradually deteriorate too. This “immunosenescence” starts to affect people's health. The older you get, the weaker your immune system becomes, and the more likely you are to get seriously ill or die because of it.

During a typical winter flu season, for example, very few people under the age of 65 get ill enough to be hospitalized. About 20 per cent of those aged 65 to 74 who catch the disease do, although hardly any of them die. But among the over 75s, about half of those with flu end up in hospital and 30 to 40 per cent of them die. Most of those who pull through never fully recover. The difference for most people is down to immunosenescence.

To many, immunosenescence may sound like a far-off threat, but it is something that should concern us all. The decline starts surprisingly early in life, during puberty, and can be accelerated by all kinds of lifestyle factors. People who smoke or who are obese are particularly likely to have an immune system that is older than their chronological years. Being sedentary is another risk factor.

This has led to a new concept called immune age. It is similar to biological age, which uses chemical tags progressively added to genes throughout life to measure how far down the trajectory of aging somebody has travelled, regardless of the number of years on the clock. Biological age and chronological age are usually quite tightly coupled, but can diverge by as much as 20 years either way. And unlike chronological age, biological age can go down as well as up, usually as a result of deliberate lifestyle changes. Both, it turns out, are also true of immunological age.

This way of thinking about the immune system has many uses. Knowing our immune age could help doctors judge how susceptible we are likely to be to illness. It might also help us all to maintain and strengthen our immune system. For instance, it could be used to validate supposed immune-boosting strategies. Does it affect immune age? If not, think twice.

At 60, some people have the immune system of a 40-year-old, others an 80-year-old

Until very recently, it was impossible to measure immune age. Immune age measurement is still new and there is no commercially available test, although the team is working on one. For now, probably the best way to gauge your immune age is to get your biological age tested, because the two seem to be roughly correlated.

The 4 tests that could be used to estimate how your aging is going:

1. Immunidex by Spectracell.

2. the PULS test which estimates your risk of heart attack and heart age

3. TruAge which checks your DNA methylation

4. Cell Sciences System Redox Assay measures the overall antioxidant function of the individual’s immune cells

Regardless, you don't need to know your immune age to take steps to start lowering it. And it turns out that many of the emerging anti-aging drugs and strategies do their stuff, at least in part, by arresting or even reversing immunosenescence.

One key approach to keeping our immune age down relates to the fact that as we get older, some of our immune cells start to misbehave. The process by which some of them find their target is called chemotaxis, and it becomes increasingly erratic as we age. Older neutrophils can still detect invaders, but become much worse at hunting them down, often charging off in the wrong direction.

This is problematic for two reasons. It reduces the speed and efficiency of the defense, giving invaders more time to gain a foothold. It also causes inflammation. The wandering neutrophils cause between two and five times as much damage as their counterparts that still know their way. Such friendly fire is a leading cause of inflammaging, the inflammation that becomes more prevalent as we age.

Another class of immune cells that begin to misfire as we age are T-cells. These are pivotal in the adaptive immune response – the more targeted part of the system – but are blunted in two ways by immunosenescence. As with neutrophils, their internal signaling pathways go awry, and they are also inhibited by inflammaging.

Aside from misbehaving immune cells, another big clue about the demise of our immune system with age comes from a vital but little-known organ called the thymus that is (or was) located beneath your breastbone. This heart-shaped patch of lymphatic tissue is where new T-cells mature before being released on active duty. It is very active in childhood but degenerates with age, shrinking by about 3 per cent a year from the onset of puberty. By late middle age, it has usually been replaced by a tiny ball of fat, and T-cell counts fall off a cliff.

This has consequences for the ability to fend off novel pathogens. In older people, who barely have any thymus left, the adaptive immune system is severely diminished, leaving an entire segment of their immune defenses vulnerable.

My 9 favorite things:

1. Golden Turmeric
7. Essential oils: Geranium, Lemon, Thieves

9. Life 9 and Essentialzyme-4What you eat will also matter to your immune system – now is the time to look after your gut flora. There is good evidence that probiotics can enhance the immune system, that poor gut health is a cause of premature aging and an unhealthy microbiome can reduce your immune age.
