On October 19th, I sent this text to my sisters: 
“I haven't felt the best the last few weeks... specifically, my respiratory and digestive systems. Been working to pinpoint what's up- the traveling, allergies... stress has been there all year, but maybe that is taking a bigger toll. 🤷‍♀️ Anywho. I've also had a headache off and on #ForDays in my forehead area. Doesn't feel TBI-related 🧐 Applying Peppermint is helping. Yesterday, I Was Not Feeling Well. Slept. A. Lot."

So. I decided to hit my symptoms hard.

What were the symptoms that were plaguing me in September through mid-October?
→ headaches, in my forehead area, for like days
→ respiratory, lots of coughing as throat was sore and felt clogged

Yup, that is how I started to feel, and it only increased. And it was depleting my energy, and essentially, my well-being.

So, I got into my

It Starts At Home
I grew up on a farm in east central Indiana. Saturdays were cleaning days. When we did, the windows were opened to let the fumes from the cleaners waft outside. This action prevented us from breathing in the toxins from the ingredients in the cleaners.

For fun, here is a photo of me and my older sister, Maureen on the farm, circa 1968.

As a reminder, here are the

How do your lungs feel when you accidentally inhale toxic fumes? For me, my lungs along with my nose begin to hurt. And if I don’t get out of that space, I start coughing.

Okay, do you know all you need to know to stock your wellness cabinet?

Aaannd, are you functioning at your best?

Yup, I'm right there with you. For the past year, I have focused my energies on healing and recovering from a traumatic brain injury (#TBI). I know, I mention this #TBI thing a lot. I think I need to write a book.

Here is the cliff notes version: On October 7, 2020, I fell, fracturing my skull which caused injury to my brain. Healing from that takes time, rest and perseverance.

Howeveeeeeerrrrrrr, before this incident, I was healing from a broken engagement. It was a relationship I thought would end with us growing old together.

Did you know that both of these things, injury and loss, can adversely affect your wellness?

For me, it has been a balance of taking care of my body (as well as mind and emotions, but that is for another article) as I heal from this injury and loss.

What I have discovered is pairing my wellness routines (walking daily,...) with using clean products dramatically helps.

🌿 Avoid sugar
Did you know that eating or drinking sugar curbs your body’s im/mune response cells that are supposed to attack all the invaders like bacteria and viruses. 🦠

🌿 Avoid processed food
Processed food is often “dead” food. Nourish your body with real, vibrant, living food that will flood your system with real nutrients! 🥗

🌿 Use your oils….like actually USE them. Your oils won’t work sitting on the shelf looking pretty. Open them up. Drop them on your head, on your feet, on your spine, in your palms, in your diffuser. USE them! 😜

🌿 Wash your hands

🌿 Don’t touch your face

🌿 Sleep
I’m guilty too. Sleep evades me sometimes a bit too much. Your im/mune sys. tem will GREATLY appreciate you getting MORE rest rather than less. Thankfully we have oils for great, quality sleep as well. Use them, friends! 🥱😴

🌿 Move your body
Exercise is a huge component to your wellness. Moving your body is wonderful for your mental and emotional health as well as physical health. I walk every day for 30 minutes, and it has for sure helped me physically as well as mentally! Being consistent at moving your body will help your im/mune sys. tem stay strong! 🏋️🚴🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

🌿 Flush and hydrate with water
Farrrrr too often I see people drinking all sorts of things except water. Now, I know some people don’t love the flavor of water, but that doesn’t excuse them from caring for their body in this way. Our bodies are desperate for water for hydration and for cleansing. Getting the gross out is one of the best ways we can stay healthy and strong no matter what heads our way.💦

What’s in that cabinet?

Educated guess that you have a medicine cabinet. And you keep it stocked with aspirin, band-aids, cough syrups, gauze, & such. The reason you keep band-aids, for instance, in the house is you want them on hand when you need them, right? #same
