What’s in that cabinet?

Part 1 of a 5-Part Series  //  Wellness Prepping

Educated guess that you have a medicine cabinet. And you keep it stocked with aspirin, band-aids, cough syrups, gauze, & such. The reason you keep band-aids, for instance, in the house is you want them on hand when you need them, right? #same

That thinking applies perfectly to having a Natural Cabinet. This is simply one corner of mine!A Natural Cabinet to keep stocked with natural options, products with ingredients that work with our bodies.
Learn about Risks from Toxic Ingredients.

One day last week my throat was feeling wonky #ThatTimeOfYear so I reached for the Thieves Spray & squirted some on my throat. Also, I increased my
NingXia Red. After a couple days, my throat was better.

Thankfully, I had both on hand.

ACTION STEP: Open your Young Living account and begin stocking your Natural Cabinet. This is the perfect place to start -
Winter Wellness Bundle.

PRO TIP: Using your YL oils and products every day will get you further in your health and wellness than only using them like a first-aid band-aid.

COMING NEXT: This 5-part series will dive deep into how you can incorporate YL oils and supplements and other products into your daily routine. Which is more effective than using your natural products every once and awhile. DID YOU KNOW that most body systems take about 3 months of consistent & specific support to be rejuvenated and functioning optimally? #OilyDaily

wins - driving, and the brain test results

MRI, MRA, EEG and blood tests, all ordered by the neurologist in June. The appointment to learn the test results wasn’t until mid-August.

However, the first bit of good news- I drove 30 minutes to my sister’s house By Myself! She drove me to the appointment in order to attend and take notes. But I drove to her house! Since October 2020, that was the furthest I drove anywhere by myself!

The day of the brain doc appointment .. I worked all day with a very short rest (rests  are vital for my healing and brain recovery) before heading to the appointment where we learned that All The Tests Look Great! No residual blood on my brain. The EEG showed signs that my brain is still healing. Overall, everything looked great!

After initially saying I would not need to come back… the doctor amended that, and asked that I come back in 6 months. Score as that was (mostly) what I wanted- “You’re doing great, see you in 12 months.” But 6 months is cool. Counting that as a win.

Aaannd then, I drove the 30 minutes back to my Flat! With 10+ minutes of that in the rain!! I attribute my doing so well because of all the brain supplements I take to help with energy and clarity. It was such a wonderful day with lots of wins.

Wins sure help with momentum and outlook.

Other recent wins→
→ Emotions - I have made major strides forward, but still need to move forward #KeepOiling
→ Since June - I’m down 7.2 pounds and 5 ½ inches!
→ Stopped Hitting The Snooze Button in the morning, so I can really take charge of my day.

I would love to hear from YOU!  What are some of your recent wins?   contact me

How well are you putting on your oxygen mask on you first?

On airplanes, they tell us to first put on our own oxygen mask before we put the mask on others. Reason is, we need to take in oxygen and breathe, otherwise we won’t be able to help others.

I translate this posture into self-care. Which is not selfish but vital for us spiritually, emotionally and physically. You must be taking care of yourself and get filled up so you can serve / work from a full tank.

I bet that felt like another to-do on your long task list. IKR? You want to remove things from your list, not add to it!

That is how I felt when I quit my job in the Fall of 2014 to become a caretaker for my mom. People were saying - “take care of you” / “ take care of you” / “take care of you.” I knew they were giving this advice in love and kindness.

What my anxiety-riddled self with a shrinking band-width for flexibility heard was .. “one more thing to do” / “one more thing to do” / “one more thing to do.” And self-care did not happen.

After my mom passed away, I pondered these conversations with dear friends. What I realized is, self-care ideas would have felt incredible.

You may be in the trenches right now .. taking care of an aging parent, all-of-a-sudden having your children do school remotely, struggling with work issues, healing from a breakup or injury or illness. And This List Goes On.

Which Can Be So Overwhelming. And yet, as your thoughts and emotions are linked, affecting behaviors and producing results, taking care of you is life-giving.

And perhaps even life-changing.

VID: with everything going on, you must take care of yourself

Here are self-care ideas →
→ Soak in a rejuvenating bath with Epsom salts
→ Take 4 deep breaths to calm your inner being
→ Write 3 things daily for which you are grateful
→ Reach out to your friends
→ Get yourself some essential oils, especially as the only way to reach your brain’s limbic system (where memories and emotions are stored) is through smell

Thoughts and emotions are linked, think bonded.

We know this, but how do we apply our knowing to affect real change in our lives?

Recently, I’ve been getting a better understanding of how this bond works.

I've been intentionally focusing on my thoughts and emotions. This summer, automatic thoughts were much discussed in my therapy, trauma-related emotional work related to my #TBI. My therapist had me identify what feelings bubble up when I think certain thoughts.

That homework is not for the faint-at-heart. I had to sit in thoughts that were negative and produced ugly feelings with the hope that I could write new thoughts and attach new feelings to them. I think this homework will be never-ending because our brains work to keep us safe and will tell us seemingly anything to protect us.

Thoughts and emotions affect behaviors, actions, and responses.

How you think and feel influence your attitudes and postures, thereby affecting how you enter a situation, handle a work problem, respond to a comment, and the list goes on.

Which are all reflected in the results you get.

We are taught- want to change our results, we need to change our behaviors. Easy to agree with this. What I am learning though, for long-term change, you need to go deeper. Work on clearing your emotional patterns, the ones tied to your thoughts.

Did you know that emotions and feelings are stored in our bodies at a cellular level?

What comes to my mind is- “I’m stuck in a rut and don’t know how to get out of it.” It is as if your thoughts and emotions have paved roads in your mind. And to re-pave roads, ones that may have been there for years or even decades, takes work.

I am learning in my research that essential oils are effective in reaching parts of the brain that hold emotions. Did you know that smell is the only way to reach the limbic system (where emotions are stored) in the brain? Which makes essential oils powerful tools to help unlock emotional patterns.

Emotional healing is life-changing.

And will be threaded through my conversations over the next course of time.

With that, check out this quick video that gives you an overview!
