November's 2023’s Gifts with Purchase

1.  Grapefruit Oil- Grapefruit essential oil has a fresh, uplifting aroma and has cleansing properties. When taken internally, it supports healthy metabolism, as well as the lymphatic and circulatory systems.*

In general, citrus oils have a high d-limonene content. This compound has immune modulating properties, digestive balancing characteristics, and is well-studied in clinical trials. They are also great for calming young children, while also keeping them focused. Unlike the fruit, the essential oil does not contain the amounts of bergamottin and 6,7-dihydroxybergamottin (DHB) that would impact medication.

2. R.C. Blend- RC™ is a potent blend of immune, cellular, and discomfort modulators. It includes black spruce, cypress, and three types of eucalyptus oils (E. globulus, E. radiata, and E. citriodora). During the winter and colder weather, it’s always a good idea to have blends with conifer oils in them. They are known for supporting our defenses, stress levels, and mood. Gotta’ love those phytoncides which benefit our bodies as they emit from trees! (Safety note: Eucalyptus oils are best to use with children 30 months and up.)

3. Citrus Fresh Oil BlendLemon oil is probably the most familiar citrus oil in this blend, though others found in Citrus Fresh®, such as lime and tangerine, are also noteworthy for their limonene content. Interestingly, it is orange and grapefruit (1, 2) which may contain the highest amount of limonene. These latter two oils also been well studied for additional wellness effects and accentuate this blend’s powerful properties. Spearmint, also present in this blend, is the “preferred mint oil” for little ones. Within a blend, or, as a single oil, it may come in handy to avoid unwanted critters in little one’s bellies, food, or the environment. It is a perfect addition to “round off” a fruit-infused aroma.

4.  One Heart Oil Blend - This blend is based on a formulation aimed to inspire people to unify, unite, and empower. These qualities positively influence the emotional and physical heart of the users and everyone surrounding them. It contains:
  • Ylang Ylang essential oil for its heart tonifying effect.
  • A mixture of the oils from the Grounding blend (fir/ camphor, frankincense, and rose geranium) to promote courage and faith.
  • Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil for the benefits of its phytoncides and soothing properties.
  • Ocotea essential oil to enhance the blend’s comforting properties.
  • Lemon and Lime citrus essential oils to provide emotional upliftment and focus.
Side note: This blend doesn’t just inspire humans; my cat literally comes running over to sniff it when I open the bottle of it to diffuse! ðŸ˜Š

Previously, I presented six reasons why “emotions in a bottle” are legit. These included:

  1. Smells can trigger an emotional response based on previous associations of the sniffer.
  2. Odors have been demonstrated to effect psychology, physiology, and biochemistry through their interactions with receptors in the body.
  3. The ability to detect odors has been correlated to neurological disorders and longevity, indicating how the sense of smell is intricately linked to health outcomes.
  4. Certain odors can also trigger memories based on one’s previous associations and evoke specific behavioral responses. These reactions can affect social interactions through the emotions they trigger. This psychological influence interacts with the odorants properties to additionally alter physiological responses.
  5. There are odor receptors throughout the whole body. This means that beyond smell, odorant molecules excerpt their own biochemical and physiological effects independently.
  6. Smell can impact emotional intelligence (EI), a determinant of social connection. (see references in Part I)
In summary, essential oils have the ability to modulate our mind and body due to their biochemical properties, the influence of their odorants on our receptors, and the scents’ association to the subject. Emotional oils blends combine synergistic single essential oils that are intended to create a specific effect on mood.
