Hello! I'm Jennifer Meckel

I am very passionate about helping you achieve the best YOU that you can be!

A little about myself. I live in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State. I am married to a wonderful and supportive man named Sean since 2003 - all wonderful years. We have two smart and sassy daughters, Emmy is 10 and in 4th grade in the Mandarin Immersion program and Lilly is 6 and in kindergarten. I like to paper craft and make my own cards, I like to sew (though don’t have much time for that lately) and I just returned to belly dancing now that Lilly is getting bigger.

I’ve been using essential oils and infused products for since October 2015 and absolutely love this lifestyle and how it makes me and my family feel. I started my oily journey after sitting next to another mom at a play date.  We started talking about my infertility issues, and she suggested I try Young Living’s essential oils to support my hormones.  After a year of intentionally exercising, eating better, and using oils to support my hormones and emotions, I became pregnant with Lilly, right before my first time attending the International YL Convention in Salt Lake City in 2016. There is so much more to tell about this story, and I’m open and willing to share with you, if you are interested.

So, tell me more about yourself!  Tell me about the season of life you are in now. Tell me about your family.

In health, wellness, and abundance!

Cassia Spotlight - Sept 2025

Cassia Essential Oil
Spotlight

Often overshadowed by its cousin Cinnamon Bark, Cassia is a hidden gem with powerful benefits for both the mind and body. This oil is bold, energizing, and grounding - all wrapped in a sweet, spicy scent that feels like a warm hug.

If you’re looking to support your immune system, boost circulation, lift your spirits naturally, or create the coziest warm space,  this is the oil you’ll want in your wellness toolkit.

Just a Drop of Cassia

  • Warming and spicy aroma, similar to cinnamon but slightly sweeter
  • Supports immune and digestive health
  • Helps with healthy blood sugar levels and circulation
  • Soothes tired or achy muscles
  • Uplifts mood and eases feelings of stress or low energy
  • Pairs beautifully with citrus, woodsy, or floral oils
Cassia essential oil has a rich, warm scent reminiscent of autumn baking, but its power goes far beyond aroma. With a long-standing reputation in traditional medicine, this oil is both grounding and invigorating - making it ideal for fall routines when our bodies and minds crave warmth, resilience, and balance.

Background

Cassia has been used for thousands of years in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to support digestion, stimulate circulation, and strengthen the immune system. Historically, it was also used in religious ceremonies and even mentioned in ancient texts, including the Bible, Ebers Papyrus, and ancient Egyptian prescription lists.

Today, Cassia is cherished not only for its therapeutic qualities but also for its vibrant scent, often found in perfumes and natural cleaning products.

The oil is extracted through steam distillation of the tree’s branches, leaves, and petioles, resulting in a potent, reddish-brown essential oil that embodies both strength and sweetness.

Cassia & Emotions

Cassia is more than just a physical support - it’s emotionally grounding and energetically uplifting. It’s known to boost feelings of courage, self-confidence, and creativity.

If you're feeling emotionally stuck, uninspired, or weighed down by stress or sadness, Cassia can help awaken your inner fire. Diffuse it during your morning routine, or apply (well diluted) to pulse points as an emotional anchor. Because it’s such a stimulating oil, it pairs beautifully with softer oils like lavender or frankincense to bring balance.

Cassia, The Heartwarmer

In Chinese medicine there are fascinating theories around using herbs with certain properties to balance the body. Conditions are categorized by influences such as cold vs. heat. Imbalance of “cold” relates to stiffness, decreased energy and vitality, lethargy, and congested flow of all of the body’s fluids.

Cassia is an herb of warmth that brings an invigorating energy into our organs and immune system. This oil is supportive of the heart, lungs, and digestive system, increasing movement when these systems are weakened.

We can remember Cassia’s benefits as heartwarming, like the friend who always helps us find our spark in life again, who kindles our dreams and shares their own energy with us, lifting our spirits.

Cassia and Health Benefits

Antioxidant Support

Much like its cousin Cinnamon, Cassia is rich in antioxidants that fight free radical damage within the body. Inflammation and oxidative stress are linked to a host of health issues including cancer.

Circulation

Cassia’s warming nature stimulates circulation, which can be especially helpful during the colder months. Improved circulation supports overall vitality and can even reduce the feeling of cold hands and feet.

Digestive Health

Traditionally used to ease nausea, bloating, and sluggish digestion, Cassia can be diluted and applied to the abdomen or diffused to support a healthy gut response—especially after a heavy meal.

Immune Health + Cleansing Properties

Thanks to its antibacterial and antiviral properties, Cassia is a powerful oil to have on hand during seasonal changes. Diffusing it regularly can help purify the air and support immune defenses. Some studies even show antifungal effects of this oil, making it a great choice for diffusing and cleaning!

Blood Sugar Balance

Cassia is known to help support healthy blood sugar levels and may benefit those with diabetes. “More research is needed to determine the potential of cassia oil as an effective treatment for type 2 diabetes, but the increased interest in this oil’s ability to naturally treat such problematic conditions is very promising.”

Muscles & Arthritis

Cassia’s anti-inflammatory and warming properties make it soothing for sore, stiff muscles and joints. In fact, some studies show it to be comparable to COX-II inhibitors like OTC pain relievers! Dilute with a carrier oil and massage into areas of discomfort for natural relief.

Key Constituents
*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Cinnamaldehyde - Supports immune health, antimicrobial, gives Cassia its signature scent
  • Cinnamyl acetate - Calming to the nervous system, adds a sweet undertone to aroma
  • Linalool - Known for calming and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Beta-caryophyllene - Supports inflammation reduction and immune modulation
Daily Habits with Cassia

Use in your self-care routine. Cassia is considered a “hot” oil, meaning it should be diluted before applying to the skin

Add 1 drop to a warm foot soak with Epsom salts for circulation and muscle support.

Make a simple massage oil with 20 drops of Cassia and ¼ cup carrier oil to massage onto legs for circulation.

Clove Spotlight - Sept 2025

Clove Essential Oil
Spotlight

Clove essential oil has a warm, spicy aroma that is lovely on its own and adds so much depth to other scents! This oil is rich and inviting, cleansing the air and creating a welcoming environment when diffused.

Applied to the skin with a carrier oil, Clove creates a warming sensation which is soothing to the muscles. It is also a powerhouse antioxidant that helps support the immune system and overall wellness. In fact, Clove is one of the ingredients in the beloved Thieves Essential Oil Blend!

Just a Drop of Clove

  • Has a warm, spicy, inviting aroma that pairs well with citrus, spice and tree oils
  • Creates a warm, welcoming environment and eliminates odors when diffused
  • Creates a warming sensation when applied topically and is soothing to sore, tired muscles and joints
  • Supports immune health and overall wellness
  • Great addition to household cleaning products like Thieves Household Cleaner
  • Can help relieve dental discomfort
  • Has the highest known ORAC value, a measure of antioxidant capacity
  • A main component of Longevity blend and supplement
Background

Clove has been used in the natural health world for centuries. It was listed in Hildegard's Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly regarded Benedictine Herbalists, Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179).

Native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia, the clove tree is a tropical evergreen species that produces thousands of small, fragrant flower buds. These buds are harvested when they ripen to a deep red color, then dried and steam distilled to produce Clove essential oil.

Healers in China and India have used clove buds since ancient times as part of their treatments for various needs – stomach issues, heart needs, emotions, and more. Eugenol, cloves' principal constituent, was used in the dental industry for years to numb gums and ease dental discomfort.

Clove & the Immune System

Clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum) essential oil is a commonly studied defender against many strains of bacteria (a quick PubMed search will show you lots of great studies!).

Clove bud essential oil is composed primarily (80+%) of the molecule Eugenol. Eugenol is a potent defender against numerous harmful bacteria. The Eugenol molecule loves to hang around moist surfaces. Clove bud oil also contains about 10% of a related molecule Eugenyl acetate – also a strong defender against bacteria.

Clove was a primary ingredient of the “Four Thieves Vinegar” which protected bandits who rummaged the homes and graves of the dead during the black plague. This recipe is the basis for our beloved Thieves Essential Oil Blend!

Clove essential is also loaded with powerful antioxidants, such as polyphenols. Antioxidants are a huge bolster to health since so much of our modern life can create oxidative stress in the body. Antioxidants also help support the body's response to inflammation, which plays a role in almost all chronic diseases.

Clove is a key ingredient in the Longevity Essential Oil Blend and the Longevity supplement -- a great choice for overall wellness and promoting longevity!

Clove & Emotions

Imbalance of “cold” relates to stiffness, decreased energy and vitality, lethargy, and congested flow of all of the body's fluids.

Starbs Run Diffuser Blends - Sept 2025

Starbs Run Diffuser Blends

There’s nothing quite like that first whiff of your favorite coffee shop drink - the sweet, the spicy, the warm, the fresh. Now you can bring those comforting café vibes into your home with these diffuser blends, each inspired by a beloved hot beverage.

Whether you’re craving the zesty lift of Honey Mint Citrus, the spicy hug of Cozy Chai, or the decadent sweetness of Peppermint Hot Chocolate, these blends will fill your space with the same inviting aromas you love from your go-to coffee shop.

So grab your oils, press “brew” on your diffuser, and let’s run to the coffee shop - no drive-thru required.

Our diffusers are running 24/7 in our homes, supporting our immune systems, respiratory systems, emotions, cleansing the air and making things smell happy and inviting all at the same time.

LIFE HACK - You can easily transform these blends into roller recipes and sprays!

To make a 10 mL roller from any recipe - triple the number of drops to make a total of 35-45 total drops, add a carrier of choice (we love V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex) and you're good to go.

To make a 2 oz spray from any recipe - double the number of drops to a total of about 25 drops, ad a splash of witch hazel and fill with filtered water. Spray on upholstered surfaces, bedding, rugs, anywhere you want to freshen!

To make an epsom salt bath mix - add desired amount of oils (we generally use about 10 drops) to 1 cup of epsom salts, then place under warm running water. Note: we generally avoid 'hot' oils (like Cypress, Oregano, and Lemongrass) in bath recipes. Use your own judgement, or stick to the more soothing and relaxing blends.

To make a 2 oz massage oil from any recipe - double the number of drops (or use your desired amount depending on the essential oils used) to a pump-top bottle, then add V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or other carrier oil to top off the bottle. Invert to mix, then used as desired.

Happy diffusing!!
