Easy Recipes and DIYs

Sweet Cinnamon Whipped Butter

This sweet cinnamon butter is always a hit, especially when paired with fresh bread. Not a baker? Grab a fresh loaf from a local bakery!
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 2-3 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality essential oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
Step 1 - Add softened butter to a mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Whip slightly, then add in honey or maple syrup. With the mixer running, add the Cinnamon Bark Vitality, vanilla extract, and salt (if using).
Step 2 - Whip the mixture on medium speed until it's light and fluffy – about 3-5 minutes. Transfer to a mason jar, seal the lid, and place a festive ribbon on it. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Step 3 - Add a card that reads: Use this sweet cinnamon whipped butter on warm bread, pancakes, waffles, or as a delicious topping for muffins and scones. Enjoy your  festive treat!
Herbed Cooking & Grilling Salts

To a pint sized mason jar mix together:
  • 1 cup coarse Himalayan salt
  • 5 drops Rosemary Vitality essential oil
  • 5 drops Oregano Vitality essential oil (optional)
  • Roughly chopped fresh rosemary
Add a note tied to the jar that says: Use your herb-infused salt for grilling vegetables, meats, or as a seasoning for baked dishes. It can also be sprinkled on roasted potatoes or used as a finishing salt for soups and salads!
Homemade Sugar Cookie Mix
In a clean, dry mason jar, layer the ingredients in the following order:
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
Close the lid tightly and add a decorative label and ribbon with the following instructions for baking the cookies.
To Make Sugar Cookies:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Gather Wet Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Step 1 - In a large bowl, whip 1 cup softened butter until smooth, then add 1 egg and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract.
Step 2 - Add the mix from the mason jar to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Add 5 drops of Lemon Vitality.
Step 3 - Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Step 4 - Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked but will firm up as they cool.

KidPower is one of our favorite oils to use as a perfume because it smells like Vanilla Valor! It smells almost identical to the Vanilla Whimsy roller, and this DIY version is a wonderful, affordable way to share the love! Each bottle of KidPower will make about 12 rollers using this recipe.

Home for the Holidays Diffuser Blends - Nov 2024

Home for the Holidays
Diffuser Blends

It's the time of year when we naturally start to slow down and savor the beauty around us, and these diffuser blends will help set the stage to do just that.

Rich in warm, spicy oils like Cinnamon Bark and Clove, these blends will also help show some love to our immune, adrenal, and respiratory systems (all of which need some TLC this time of year!). The woodsy oils in these blends help calm our minds and bodies and create the coziest holiday home. So fill up your diffuser, and keep it running all season long!

Our diffusers are running 24/7 in our homes, supporting our immune systems, respiratory systems, emotions, cleansing the air and making things smell happy and inviting all at the same time.

LIFE HACK - You can easily transform these blends into roller recipes and sprays!

To make a 10 mL roller from any recipe - triple the number of drops to make a total of 35-45 total drops, add a carrier of choice (we love V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex) and you're good to go.

To make a 2 oz spray from any recipe - double the number of drops to a total of about 25 drops, ad a splash of witch hazel and fill with filtered water. Spray on upholstered surfaces, bedding, rugs, anywhere you want to freshen!

To make an epsom salt bath mix - add desired amount of oils (we generally use about 10 drops) to 1 cup of epsom salts, then place under warm running water. Note: we generally avoid 'hot' oils (like Cypress, Oregano, and Lemongrass) in bath recipes. Use your own judgement, or stick to the more soothing and relaxing blends.

To make a 2 oz massage oil from any recipe - double the number of drops (or use your desired amount depending on the essential oils used) to a pump-top bottle, then add V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or other carrier oil to top off the bottle. Invert to mix, then used as desired.

Happy diffusing!!

Abundance Oil Spotlight - Oct 2024

Abundance Spotlight

This rich and spicy oil is designed to help us release fears associated with a poverty mindset. Even when we don't realize it, we have skills, abilities, tools, opportunities, contacts, teachers, and wisdom right at our fingertips. Abundance oil blend (and intentional practices!) can help us to realize this fact and step into those things in front of us!

Abundance at a Glance

  • Has a warm, spicy aroma that is stimulating and inspiring
  • Can help enhance the mindset of prosperity and plentitude
  • Is a wonderful addition to your daily gratitude practice. Pair this oil blend with a daily gratitude journal.
  • Pairs well with Harmony, Forgiveness, Joy, Tangerine, Stress Away, Valor and White Angelica essential oils
  • A great addition to the Feelings Collection kit.
Background

Abundance essential oil blend features Orange, Frankincense, Patchouli, Clove, Ginger, Myrrh, Cinnamon Bark, and Black Spruce essential oils, which were used by ancient cultures to attract prosperity and magnify joy and peace. Each oil in this blend was chosen for its unique properties!

Key Ingredients

  • Orange - high in limonene, which is great for the immune system; uplifting and encouraging to the mind and spirit
  • Frankincense - carries historical and biblical significance as a grounding and uplifting aroma
  • Patchouli - grounding and helps connect to the inner self
  • Myrrh - stimulates the limbic system, the seat of memory; a wonderful oil to use to work on stored emotional trauma or negative thoughts
  • Black Spruce - grounding and relaxing and helps to clear the mind.
It is time for us to wake up to the walls we are building between us and freedom because we insist that there is never enough time, money, or us. We choose. We have the same 24 hours anyone else has, our own unique set of gifts that no one else has, and one life to live. Let's not waste a single moment in fear and a spirit of lack.

We can have this spirit of not having enough in our health and wellness as well as in our finances. Always believing that it's not worth it to invest in our health, that we'll never have enough energy, and that it's impossible for us to be "whole" in our health. We are believing falsehoods. We were created for wholeness and our bodies were designed for healing.
As you apply this oil, speak truth over yourself such as:
  • "I lack nothing."
  • "I have everything I need."
  • "I am enough."
Key Constituents

*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Alpha pinene - a powerful antioxidant, some studies have shown alpha-pinene to support the body through inflammation and to help calm the mind
  • Bornyl acetate - may help calm and focus the mind
Daily Habits with Abundance

Diffuse as you work, read, and contact others.

Dab onto letters, packages, and envelopes you are sending out to business contacts.

Apply to your wrists and over your heart as you pray over your team, your time, and your future in this business.

Put on the edges of your calendar and planner so that every time you are thinking of your time commitments, you are shifting to a viewpoint of abundance and choice.

Drop on a diffuser bracelet in your purse or wallet and stop thinking of money as something in short supply. Money will ALWAYS be there and there will be ways to attain it. TIME? That's the one you guard. Use your time to find ways to pursue freedom and residual income where your money works FOR YOU.

Falling Leaves Diffuser Blends - Sept 2024

Falling Leaves Diffuser Blends

There's a certain magic that comes along with the shorter days and crisp air of autumn. The vibrant colors of fall leaves, the cozy warmth of sweaters, and the comforting aroma of rich spices create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

And we think the best way to capture the essence of autumn is through these diffuser blends! These combinations can evoke the smells of the forest, the sweetness of baked goods, and the comforting scents of a crackling fire and help you embrace the spirit of the season.

Copaiba Spotlight - July 2024

Copaiba Spotlight

Copaiba is one oil you always want to have on hand. Think of this oil like the Fireman of the toolkit - gentle yet strong, ready to get to work soothing things that need to be soothed. From skin care to muscles to gut health, this little bottle can do so much!

Just a Drop of Copaiba

  • Has a calming, earthy aroma that creates a relaxing environment when diffused
  • Promotes the appearance of a youthful, radiant glow when applied topically
  • Can be massaged into fatigued areas after activity
  • Supports overall wellness when taken internally*
  • Has a robust, earthy flavor with notes of honey
  • Copaiba Vitality has a buttery, delicate flavor
  • Pairs well with Peppermint, Spearmint, Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Nutmeg, Orange, and Lemon Vitality oils
Copaiba - The Fireman (words by Courtney Critz)

He is ever on the alert, skilled, protective, strong. He goes quickly through the pathways of your cells seeking out the raging flames and pouring on the calming water of his many anti-inflammatory benefits.

Wherever there is "fire" or inflammation in your body, it is a signal of something going on. An arsonist at work (disease, stress) or a drought in your system that needs to be addressed (lack of nutrients). This can also be the result of foods that you are eating such as refined sugar, modern grains, processed dairy, or other foods that don't work well with your body. Over time this compounds until you have fire raging everywhere and you are experiencing pain, digestive issues, skin eruptions, and brain dysfunctions. Eventually this leads to even more serious problems.

People often think that because they don't have digestive problems, they don't have gut inflammation issues. Not at all true. Gut inflammation shows itself as brain fog, pain in joints, emotional instability, and skin eruptions. It's ALL connected.

Eventually, if root issues aren't addressed, your body is spending all of its energy trying to function despite all the fire raging throughout your system.

Everything is burning and you are so busy dealing with the side effects of the fires, you can't ever get to the actual healing to keep the fires from happening.

You're taking medications to treat the pain, the meds increase the inflammation as your gut is damaged, thereby increasing the pain, leading to more medication for the pain…see the cycle?

We have to find a different way.

We have to find alternatives that can help us put out the fires, keep them out, and not do further damage to our systems. Truly quenching them is going to result in lasting relief and recovery. This will mean finding ways to reduce stress, to eat foods that nourish instead of harming us, and repairing the damage that has already been done to our poor guts.

And we need a hero. We need a Fireman.

BACKGROUND

Copaiba essential oil is steam distilled from the gum resin of the Brazilian Copaifera reticulata tree. Native to the Amazon River Basin, these trees can reach 25−40 feet and can live for up to 400 years. Copaiba resin has been used for various purposes throughout the Amazon region since at least the 16th century. It contains a high percentage of the naturally occurring constituent beta-caryophyllene, making it a great choice to add to skin care products or to use for massage. Copaiba Vitality essential oil provides general wellness support when taken internally. Copaiba and Copaiba Vitality are the same essential oil, simply labeled differently.

Shutran Oil Spotlight - June 2024

Shurtran Spotlight

Shutran is an empowering essential oil blend specially formulated for men to boost feelings of masculinity and confidence. And when men are feeling more masculine and confident…let's just say they become pretty irresistible! This is one oil you want to have in your daily routine.

Shutran at a Glance

Shutran's inspiring aroma appeals to both men and women, making it a wonderful choice for a cologne. BUT Shutran does not contain any synthetic ingredients like conventional colognes. Instead, it is formulated with pure, hormone-supporting essential oils.

Besides smelling wonderful, Shutran is a powerful emotional tool for releasing blocks and promoting feelings of balance. Because it contains Idaho Blue Spruce and other oils, it is well known for its ability to support healthy hormone levels, especially testosterone!

Key Constituents
*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Alpha-pinene - a powerful antioxidant, some studies have shown alpha-pinene to support the body through inflammation and to help calm the mind
  • Limonene - known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-stress support, this is a powerful constituent with many health benefits
  • Camphene - some studies may show that this constituent supports cardiovascular health, may help reduce pain and inflammation, support the body's defenses to fungal infections
Shutran + Testosterone

Shutran was designed specifically for men as a way to naturally support healthy hormone levels. Because it contains Idaho Blue Spruce, Ylang Ylang, and Nothern Lights Black Spruce, it is an excellent oil for men to help balance and support testosterone levels.

Conifer oils are effective for reaching the pineal gland of the brain, especially Idaho Blue Spruce. This small but extremely important control switch plays a big role in hormone secretion, and regulation of mood, sleep patterns, and sexual development. Because of this and because of its unique constituent profile, Blue Spruce (and Black Spruce too!) is supportive of maintaining healthy testosterone, growth hormone and other hormone levels. This incredible oil doesn't simply ‘replace' testosterone like conventional options. It supports the body's own production of hormones which is a much better way to approach the need.

Key Ingredients

  • Idaho Blue Spruce - You say testosterone, we say Idaho Blue Spruce! This slightly sweet conifer oil is wonderful for providing the body with tools to create healthy testosterone levels.
  • Ylang Ylang - Ylang ylang is a wonderful oil for promoting connection and openness in relationships, making Shutran wonderful for promoting intimacy and also for making it smell divine.
  • Hinoki - Hinoki essential oil has been used historically for refreshing the soul and is used to create a calm ambiance that can help increase intuitive awareness – something essential for true connection and intimacy!
  • Davana - A lesser known, but truly wonderful oil, Davana has an exotic floral aroma that creates an environment of joy and romance.  It was traditionally used by Ayurvedic healers to balance the body and spirit. It also smells divine!
  • Northern Lights Black Spruce - Northern Lights Black Spruce has a grounding, earthy aroma that feels like walking through a beautiful, quiet forest. This oil enhances and uplifts the spirit and promotes feelings of completeness.
Daily Habits with Shutran

Apply to the wrists, neck, and chest as a daily cologne. Add a roller fitment to the top of the bottle for easy application!

Combine with epsom salts and add to warm bath water for a relaxing bath, or to ease muscles after exercise.

  • 15 drops Shutran
  • 10 drops Bergamot
  • Optional: 10 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce
  • Fill with Jojoba or Grapeseed oil

  • In a separate bowl combine 2 Tbsp jojoba oil & 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • Mix well then add in the melted shea butter/beeswax mixture and mix with a hand mixer.
  • Add 3-5  drops each Shutran, Idaho Blue Spruce, Rosemary, Cedarwood

Rosemary Spotlight - May 2024

Rosemary Essential Oil Spotlight

Rosemary has an earthy, sweet, herbaceous scent that is familiar and welcoming, but many people aren't aware that this oil is a powerhouse! Inhaling rosemary can help overcome mental fatigue, improve mental clarity and focus, ease anxiety and enhance analytic ability. Rosemary is a key player in our beloved Thieves blend and has been burned for centuries as incense to ward off sickness. To say we love this oil is an understatement!

Just a Drop of Rosemary

  • Has a crisp, invigorating, herbal aroma that pairs well with most other oils
  • Promotes shiny, healthy-looking hair
  • Cleansing and purifying
  • Helps create an environment conducive to work or study
  • Supports the immune system and overall wellness
  • Contains antioxidants
BACKGROUND

Native to the Mediterranean and Asia, rosemary derives its name from the Latin words “ros” and “marinus,” or “dew of the sea.” An evergreen shrub in the mint family, Rosemary grows abundantly in rocky coastal regions. Rosemary essential oil has an invigorating aroma that can be used to create an environment conducive to work or study. It is often included in soaps, fragrances, shampoos, and household cleaners and is a key ingredient in the Thieves essential oil blend. Rosemary is highly supportive of the immune, respiratory and cardiovascular systems and is often used to support healthy blood pressure.

Key Constituents
*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Eucalyptol - eucalyptol has a distinctive, fresh aroma that has a calming effect on the user when applied in aromatherapy. Research shows that eucalyptol may have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and neuroprotective effects. It may also act as a bronchodilator, supporting airway opening.
  • Camphor - known for its medicinal aroma, camphor has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for its cleansing properties and was used as a fumigant during the plague era. This constituent may provide antibacterial anti-inflammatory and skin supporting properties.
  • Alpha-pinene - a powerful antioxidant, some studies have shown alpha-pinene to support the body through inflammation and to help calm the mind.
Rosemary & Emotions

Rosemary can be an incredible health tool when it comes to emotional support! Not only does this herbaceous oil help with mental clarity and focus, it is supportive of the immune system as well. And our immune system is highly linked to our emotional state!

Think about it. When you feel something coming on you are often more easily agitated, feel low energy and even depressed. When we begin to fall below the wellness line it affects us physically, yes, but also spiritually, emotionally, mentally. The opposite is true as well. When we are feeling the negative side of emotions, our immune systems need some support. Feelings of Vulnerable, Exhausted, Unfocused, Uncertain and Run Down are a great time to grab your Rosemary!

One simple way to help with this… keep your bottle of Rosemary beside the bed. When you wake in the morning feeling sluggish, unwilling to start the day, uncertain of what is ahead,  take a deep breath of Rosemary. To promote Clarity, dilute and rub over the throat or over the liver.

Earth Day Everyday

Earth Day Everyday

image
Sustainability is a really important facet of our lives, and simply being aware allows us to think outside the box when it comes to repurposing things. We don't have to be perfect or completely zero waste either. When we all do small things to reduce and reuse packaging, it can go a long way!

You've already started your sustainability journey simply by using Young Living products. The company is committed to sustainable farming practices, regenerative farming and more when it comes to stewarding the earth. We want to be good stewards of the earth everyday in our homes as well, so here are a few simple tips, tricks and DIYs you can implement today!

One simple way to work towards sustainability is to purchase products that are concentrated, making less packaging need to be recycled. Here are a few of our favorites:

Also, with just about all of the Young Living products, a little goes a long way! So we are purchasing less single use plastic, recycling what we can and finding unique uses for the rest.

Ways to Reuse Plastic Bags

  • Rinse and use to store non-food items in the home.
  • Cut off the zip top (recycle it with plastic bags) and use the clear plastic bag as a gift bag! Add tissue or paper to the bottom, then add items and tie at the top with ribbon.
  • Recycle them with plastic grocery bags. (Many food packaging bags can be recycled this way as well. Just check the bottom of the bag!)
Ways to Reuse Plastic Packages

  • If you change your own oil in your vehicle, the Thieves Foaming Hand Soap bottle makes a great vessel for collecting oil! You can cut off the top if needed. Think of this long bottle as one with a built in funnel of sorts, and you'll find uses for sure.
  • When your Thieves Household Cleaner is empty, keep the bottle and add a spray top to use in DIYs, for the garden, or mix up a second bottle of cleaner to keep in the bathroom.
  • Use the empty bottles from the Thieves Household Cleaner or Thieves Laundry Soap to pre-dilute them for ease of use.
  • Refill empty hand soap bottles and give to friends.
  • Recycle any bottles you can't repurpose.
  • Use Thieves Hand Sanitizer bottles for travel size shampoo and conditioner! Just wash out and fill with anything for a travel size option.
  • Use empty Thieves Mints containers to store supplements on the go.
  • Use larger bottles to grow herbs! Take a Thieves Foaming Hand Soap Refill bottle, and cut off the top. Add some drainage holes to the bottom, plant desired herbs, and place in a sunny spot. You can also use the Thieves Laundry Soap, Thieves Household Cleaner and Thieves Dish Soap bottles.
Ways to Reuse Glass Oil Bottles

  • Use them as small vases.
  • Use to create pre-made diffuser blends.
  • Add a dropper top to use for DIY serums or diffuser blends.
  • Refill them with the same oil and keep at a different location in the home.
  • When bottles are empty, place in some epsom salt (mix them all in a large jar together!) to remove any remaining oil (then use the essential-oil infused epsom salt in your bath or a foot bath). OR place them in a jar of water and use the water in the diffuser.
  • Use clean, empty bottles to make a windchime!
Ways to Reuse Cardboard & Packing Tubes

  • Use the tubes to start seeds/seedlings for your garden.
  • Cover in peanut butter and bird seed and hand in front of a window to watch the birds.
  • Make spy glasses, telescopes or other creative toys with the cardboard tubes.
  • Use the circular ends of tubes to paint interesting shapes.
  • Use the tubes to store paint brushes or other small items.
  • Gather multiple tubes, then tape onto a wall or a poster board in various arrangements, connecting some to each other, and let toddlers place soft balls through them like a marble maze. Here is an example!
  • Compost or recycle the boxes and tubes.
  • Use the cardboard as a weed block in garden and flower beds. Simply lay it on the ground, cover with leaves or small mulch and allow it to sit before adding dirt and plants.
  • Make a cardboard box tower by taping multiple boxes together, then let your kids paint it!
No matter which of these suggestions you choose (or if you come up with something on your own), taking small steps everyday adds up to a big impact!

These oils are ones we reach for over and over, and they are cornerstones of your natural health and wellness routines!

Golden Touch 1 Collection Oils
The oils in this collection are wonderful for everyday use to support the body from different directions!

  • Melrose - Melrose is a combination of four oils: Melaleuca Alternifolia, Melaleuca Quinquenervia, Rosemary, and Clove, making it a wonderful cleansing blend for body and mind! This is one oil we reach for when the crud hits, when we have skin needs, when our airways need some support, and even for cleaning! Use Melrose as you would Tea Tree, and enjoy its rich, herbaceous scent diffused with Thieves, Lavender, or Orange.
  • Raven - Raven is the oil blend to reach for when you want to breathe deeply! Raven is a crisp, airway opening blend containing Ravintsara (commonly known as camphor), Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, Peppermint, and Wintergreen. This oil is wonderful for respiratory and immune support! Diffuse it, add it to epsom salts when your defenses are going down, make a simple chest rub with Raven and coconut oil, or place a few drops on your shower floor every morning.
  • R.C. -  This gentle eucalyptus blend is formulated for the whole family and is our favorite for happy noses. R.C. stands for “respiratory comfort,” and it gives comfort to your respiratory system indeed! R.C. combines Cypress, Spruce, and three types of Eucalyptus oils (E. citriodora, E. globulus, and E. radiata) for a respiratory blend that is more herbaceous than Raven.
  • DiGize Vitality - DiGize is your BFF for a happy digestive system. So much of our health is linked to a diverse, well balanced gut, but immune health is especially dependent on a healthy belly. DiGize is our go to for all things digestion! This blend of Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Lemongrass, Anise, and Patchouli is so soothing. Roll it over your abdomen whenever digestive discomfort hits, add it to an empty capsule with olive oil and take daily to support a healthy belly, add it to a large glass of water – however you use DiGize, this oil will make a believer out of even the most skeptical!
  • Endoflex Vitality - EndoFlex is your daily dose of happy hormone support! This supports the entire endocrine system – from your thyroid to the adrenals to estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. EndoFlex Spearmint, Sage, Geranium, Myrtle, German Chamomile, and Nutmeg in a sesame seed oil base. These oils specifically support the adrenal system, thyroid, and overall endocrine health. Apply this oil over the front of the throat (thyroid) and lower back (adrenals), diffuse it, even use it along the spine for big emotions and to support tweens and teens as they grow!
  • JuvaFlex Vitality - JuvaFlex is daily support for a happy, healthy liver. The liver is the filtering organ of the body, so it is constantly processing everything we are exposed to on a daily basis. JuvaFlex combines Blue Tansy, Fennel, Geranium, Helichrysum, Roman Chamomile, and Rosemary essential oils – each of which helps the body process and eliminate toxins, cleansing the system and supporting overall health and vitality. The liver is also where anger is stored in the body, so supporting it well and practicing emotional release can have amazing health benefits. If you're needing support for a specific issue and don't know what else to do, try liver support and cleansing! It can be such a huge part of health.
  • Thieves Vitality - Thieves is the original oil when it comes to all things immune! Thieves is our germ-fighting best friend. This is a legendary blend of purifying essential oils - Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus radiata, and Rosemary - that are well known for immune support and cleansing properties. Diffuse it, apply it, ingest it in some hot tea – just get the oil in and around you every day!

Ylang ylang petals were historically used to adorn a newly married couple's bed on the wedding night to promote feelings of connection and romance.
