Cassia Spotlight - Sept 2025

Cassia Essential Oil
Spotlight

Often overshadowed by its cousin Cinnamon Bark, Cassia is a hidden gem with powerful benefits for both the mind and body. This oil is bold, energizing, and grounding - all wrapped in a sweet, spicy scent that feels like a warm hug.

If you’re looking to support your immune system, boost circulation, lift your spirits naturally, or create the coziest warm space,  this is the oil you’ll want in your wellness toolkit.

Just a Drop of Cassia

  • Warming and spicy aroma, similar to cinnamon but slightly sweeter
  • Supports immune and digestive health
  • Helps with healthy blood sugar levels and circulation
  • Soothes tired or achy muscles
  • Uplifts mood and eases feelings of stress or low energy
  • Pairs beautifully with citrus, woodsy, or floral oils
Cassia essential oil has a rich, warm scent reminiscent of autumn baking, but its power goes far beyond aroma. With a long-standing reputation in traditional medicine, this oil is both grounding and invigorating - making it ideal for fall routines when our bodies and minds crave warmth, resilience, and balance.

Background

Cassia has been used for thousands of years in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for its ability to support digestion, stimulate circulation, and strengthen the immune system. Historically, it was also used in religious ceremonies and even mentioned in ancient texts, including the Bible, Ebers Papyrus, and ancient Egyptian prescription lists.

Today, Cassia is cherished not only for its therapeutic qualities but also for its vibrant scent, often found in perfumes and natural cleaning products.

The oil is extracted through steam distillation of the tree’s branches, leaves, and petioles, resulting in a potent, reddish-brown essential oil that embodies both strength and sweetness.

Cassia & Emotions

Cassia is more than just a physical support - it’s emotionally grounding and energetically uplifting. It’s known to boost feelings of courage, self-confidence, and creativity.

If you're feeling emotionally stuck, uninspired, or weighed down by stress or sadness, Cassia can help awaken your inner fire. Diffuse it during your morning routine, or apply (well diluted) to pulse points as an emotional anchor. Because it’s such a stimulating oil, it pairs beautifully with softer oils like lavender or frankincense to bring balance.

Cassia, The Heartwarmer

In Chinese medicine there are fascinating theories around using herbs with certain properties to balance the body. Conditions are categorized by influences such as cold vs. heat. Imbalance of “cold” relates to stiffness, decreased energy and vitality, lethargy, and congested flow of all of the body’s fluids.

Cassia is an herb of warmth that brings an invigorating energy into our organs and immune system. This oil is supportive of the heart, lungs, and digestive system, increasing movement when these systems are weakened.

We can remember Cassia’s benefits as heartwarming, like the friend who always helps us find our spark in life again, who kindles our dreams and shares their own energy with us, lifting our spirits.

Cassia and Health Benefits

Antioxidant Support

Much like its cousin Cinnamon, Cassia is rich in antioxidants that fight free radical damage within the body. Inflammation and oxidative stress are linked to a host of health issues including cancer.

Circulation

Cassia’s warming nature stimulates circulation, which can be especially helpful during the colder months. Improved circulation supports overall vitality and can even reduce the feeling of cold hands and feet.

Digestive Health

Traditionally used to ease nausea, bloating, and sluggish digestion, Cassia can be diluted and applied to the abdomen or diffused to support a healthy gut response—especially after a heavy meal.

Immune Health + Cleansing Properties

Thanks to its antibacterial and antiviral properties, Cassia is a powerful oil to have on hand during seasonal changes. Diffusing it regularly can help purify the air and support immune defenses. Some studies even show antifungal effects of this oil, making it a great choice for diffusing and cleaning!

Blood Sugar Balance

Cassia is known to help support healthy blood sugar levels and may benefit those with diabetes. “More research is needed to determine the potential of cassia oil as an effective treatment for type 2 diabetes, but the increased interest in this oil’s ability to naturally treat such problematic conditions is very promising.”

Muscles & Arthritis

Cassia’s anti-inflammatory and warming properties make it soothing for sore, stiff muscles and joints. In fact, some studies show it to be comparable to COX-II inhibitors like OTC pain relievers! Dilute with a carrier oil and massage into areas of discomfort for natural relief.

Key Constituents
*Constituents are naturally occurring compounds in plants (and therefore essential oils) that give them specific health-supporting properties

  • Cinnamaldehyde - Supports immune health, antimicrobial, gives Cassia its signature scent
  • Cinnamyl acetate - Calming to the nervous system, adds a sweet undertone to aroma
  • Linalool - Known for calming and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Beta-caryophyllene - Supports inflammation reduction and immune modulation

Clove Spotlight - Sept 2025

Clove Essential Oil
Spotlight

Clove essential oil has a warm, spicy aroma that is lovely on its own and adds so much depth to other scents! This oil is rich and inviting, cleansing the air and creating a welcoming environment when diffused.

Applied to the skin with a carrier oil, Clove creates a warming sensation which is soothing to the muscles. It is also a powerhouse antioxidant that helps support the immune system and overall wellness. In fact, Clove is one of the ingredients in the beloved Thieves Essential Oil Blend!

Just a Drop of Clove

  • Has a warm, spicy, inviting aroma that pairs well with citrus, spice and tree oils
  • Creates a warm, welcoming environment and eliminates odors when diffused
  • Creates a warming sensation when applied topically and is soothing to sore, tired muscles and joints
  • Supports immune health and overall wellness
  • Great addition to household cleaning products like Thieves Household Cleaner
  • Can help relieve dental discomfort
  • Has the highest known ORAC value, a measure of antioxidant capacity
  • A main component of Longevity blend and supplement
Background

Clove has been used in the natural health world for centuries. It was listed in Hildegard's Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly regarded Benedictine Herbalists, Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179).

Native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia, the clove tree is a tropical evergreen species that produces thousands of small, fragrant flower buds. These buds are harvested when they ripen to a deep red color, then dried and steam distilled to produce Clove essential oil.

Healers in China and India have used clove buds since ancient times as part of their treatments for various needs – stomach issues, heart needs, emotions, and more. Eugenol, cloves' principal constituent, was used in the dental industry for years to numb gums and ease dental discomfort.

Clove & the Immune System

Clove bud (Syzygium aromaticum) essential oil is a commonly studied defender against many strains of bacteria (a quick PubMed search will show you lots of great studies!).

Clove bud essential oil is composed primarily (80+%) of the molecule Eugenol. Eugenol is a potent defender against numerous harmful bacteria. The Eugenol molecule loves to hang around moist surfaces. Clove bud oil also contains about 10% of a related molecule Eugenyl acetate – also a strong defender against bacteria.

Clove was a primary ingredient of the “Four Thieves Vinegar” which protected bandits who rummaged the homes and graves of the dead during the black plague. This recipe is the basis for our beloved Thieves Essential Oil Blend!

Clove essential is also loaded with powerful antioxidants, such as polyphenols. Antioxidants are a huge bolster to health since so much of our modern life can create oxidative stress in the body. Antioxidants also help support the body's response to inflammation, which plays a role in almost all chronic diseases.

Clove is a key ingredient in the Longevity Essential Oil Blend and the Longevity supplement -- a great choice for overall wellness and promoting longevity!

Clove & Emotions

In Chinese medicine there are fascinating theories around using herbs with certain properties to balance the body. Conditions are categorized by influences such as cold vs. heat. Imbalance of “cold” relates to stiffness, decreased energy and vitality, lethargy, and congested flow of all of the body's fluids.

Starbs Run Diffuser Blends - Sept 2025

Starbs Run Diffuser Blends

There’s nothing quite like that first whiff of your favorite coffee shop drink - the sweet, the spicy, the warm, the fresh. Now you can bring those comforting café vibes into your home with these diffuser blends, each inspired by a beloved hot beverage.

Whether you’re craving the zesty lift of Honey Mint Citrus, the spicy hug of Cozy Chai, or the decadent sweetness of Peppermint Hot Chocolate, these blends will fill your space with the same inviting aromas you love from your go-to coffee shop.

So grab your oils, press “brew” on your diffuser, and let’s run to the coffee shop - no drive-thru required.

Our diffusers are running 24/7 in our homes, supporting our immune systems, respiratory systems, emotions, cleansing the air and making things smell happy and inviting all at the same time.

LIFE HACK - You can easily transform these blends into roller recipes and sprays!

To make a 10 mL roller from any recipe - triple the number of drops to make a total of 35-45 total drops, add a carrier of choice (we love V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex) and you're good to go.

To make a 2 oz spray from any recipe - double the number of drops to a total of about 25 drops, ad a splash of witch hazel and fill with filtered water. Spray on upholstered surfaces, bedding, rugs, anywhere you want to freshen!

To make an epsom salt bath mix - add desired amount of oils (we generally use about 10 drops) to 1 cup of epsom salts, then place under warm running water. Note: we generally avoid 'hot' oils (like Cypress, Oregano, and Lemongrass) in bath recipes. Use your own judgement, or stick to the more soothing and relaxing blends.

To make a 2 oz massage oil from any recipe - double the number of drops (or use your desired amount depending on the essential oils used) to a pump-top bottle, then add V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or other carrier oil to top off the bottle. Invert to mix, then used as desired.

Happy diffusing!!

Back to School - If You're Feeling Diffuser Blends - August 2025

If You're Feeling...
Back to School Diffuser Blends

The back-to-school season brings a swirl of emotions - from excitement and motivation to nerves and overwhelm. Whether you're a student, parent, or educator, navigating these shifts can feel like a rollercoaster.

Thankfully, nature offers powerful support through essential oils. This guide pairs six common back-to-school emotions with carefully selected single oils, helping you stay balanced, focused, and grounded as the school year begins. Use them in the diffuser, a roller blend, or simply apply them straight from the bottle and let scent be your steady companion through the season of new beginnings.

Our diffusers are running 24/7 in our homes, supporting our immune systems, respiratory systems, emotions, cleansing the air and making things smell happy and inviting all at the same time.

If You're Feeling... Excited - Diffuse: Grapefruit

Grapefruit is energizing, fresh, and emotionally uplifting. It captures that “new beginnings” buzz without being overstimulating.

Use when you’re buzzing with anticipation — or need a natural boost to match that energy.

If You're Feeling... Anxious - Diffuse: Roman Chamomile

Roman Chamomile is deeply calming for the nervous system, easing tension and helping with sleep and overwhelm.

Perfect for the night before the first day or when schedules feel chaotic.

If You're Feeling... Overwhelmed - Diffuse: Frankincense

Frankincense is grounding and centering. It helps quiet the mind and promotes focus - ideal when to-do lists feel never-ending.

Think of it as a deep breath in a bottle.

If You're Feeling... Motivated - Diffuse: Rosemary

Rosemary stimulates memory, focus, and drive. It’s excellent for study sessions, early mornings, or sluggish afternoons.

Sharpens the mind and helps shake off procrastination.

If You're Feeling... Sad - Diffuse: Bergamot

Bergamot is known for its mood-lifting and emotionally balancing effects. It comforts and softens heavy feelings without sedation.

Great for both kids and parents who feel the emotional pull of transition.

If You're Feeling... Confident - Diffuse: Cedarwood

Cedarwood promotes emotional strength, self-assurance, and calm presence. It’s steady and stabilizing, perfect for interviews, tests, or new social settings.

Smells like inner strength and quiet bravery.

Whether you're looking to boost confidence, deepen your sense of love, or maintain calmness amidst the excitement, these specially selected oils provide a harmonious accompaniment to your once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Embrace each moment with the perfect scent to match your emotions, ensuring your wedding day is both memorable and magical.

Each bottle lasts three times longer than an 8-ounce (227-gram) candle with none of the wax, smoke, or mess. It’s the sweet little scent shift you’ve been craving for your home.

Background

Lavender and vanilla have long been cherished for their soothing and relaxing properties, both in traditional and modern wellness practices. Lavender oil has been used for centuries in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome for its calming fragrance and healing qualities. It was often incorporated into baths, perfumes, and even medical treatments to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety.

Similarly, vanilla carries a warm, sweet aroma that is deeply comforting and emotionally grounding. Though its use became widespread after the 16th century with the rise of global trade, vanilla was considered a sacred and luxurious substance by the Totonac and Aztec civilizations of Mesoamerica. Together, these oils are widely used in aromatherapy today, valued for their natural ability to ease stress, improve sleep quality, and create a sense of calm and emotional balance.

 Key Ingredients

  • Lavender essential oil - Lavender oil, rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, is cherished for its gentle yet powerful calming effects. Widely used to ease stress, support restful sleep, and soothe irritated skin, it blends therapeutic function with a clean, floral aroma. It is a wonderful  and elegant tool for both emotional and physical balance.
  • Vanilla - Vanilla offers a warm, comforting scent that evokes a sense of calm and emotional well-being. Though technically an oleoresin or absolute rather than a true essential oil, it is highly valued in aromatherapy for its ability to ease tension and uplift the spirit. Its antioxidant and soothing properties also make it a luxurious addition to skincare and natural fragrance blends.

Background

Spice oils like cinnamon, clove, ginger, and cardamom have been treasured for centuries, not only for their bold, aromatic flavors but also for their rich histories and therapeutic properties. Originating from ancient trade routes that connected East and West, these oils were once as valuable as gold, fueling exploration and global commerce.
  • Cinnamon oil, derived from the bark of Cinnamomum trees, was used in ancient Egypt for embalming and in religious rituals.
  • Clove oil, native to the Spice Islands, was highly prized in medieval Europe for its ability to preserve food and ease dental pain.
  • Ginger oil, extracted from the rhizome of the Zingiber plant, has roots in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, valued for its warming and digestive properties.
  • Cardamom oil, known as the "queen of spices," was used in ancient India and the Middle East for both culinary and medicinal purposes. Today, these spice oils continue to be celebrated for their potent scents, culinary versatility, and natural wellness benefits.
  • Vanilla carries a warm, sweet aroma that is deeply comforting and emotionally grounding. Though its use became widespread after the 16th century with the rise of global trade, vanilla was considered a sacred and luxurious substance by the Totonac and Aztec civilizations of Mesoamerica.
  • Together, these oils are widely used in aromatherapy today, valued for their natural ability to ease stress, improve sleep quality, and create a sense of calm and emotional balance.
Key Ingredients

Inspired by open skies, ocean drives, and wind-in-your-hair moments.

If You're Feeling... Grateful - Diffuse: Present Time

For soaking up the beauty of the now - sunsets, family dinners, or quiet mornings.

Main Street USA Diffuser Blends - July 2025

Main Street USA Diffuser Blends

Step into the heart of a small-town summer - where parades march down tree-lined streets, lemonade stands dot every corner, and fireworks light up the night sky.

These blends are inspired by the simple joys of an old-fashioned American summer: warm pies cooling on the porch, crisp grass under bare feet, and the sweet fizz of a soda fountain treat. With just a few drops, you can fill your home with the scents of nostalgia, comfort, and celebration. Welcome to Main Street, where the spirit of summer lives on.

Our diffusers are running 24/7 in our homes, supporting our immune systems, respiratory systems, emotions, cleansing the air and making things smell happy and inviting all at the same time.

LIFE HACK - You can easily transform these blends into roller recipes and sprays!

  • 10 drops Lavender
  • Fill the rest with witch hazel
Add Lavender and Tea Tree to your on-the-go wellness kit for the literal bumps in the road and make this simple, but effective Pavement Spray. The best part about this is that you don't have to rub it in onto tender skin! To a 2 oz glass or stainless steel spray bottle, add:

Use Copaiba in your daily health routine!

Use for teething little ones. Add a drop of Copaiba to a wooden teether or cloth teether & let them go to town chewing away! Can also be done on a cold or frozen washcloth. Copaiba is gentle enough to use without a carrier oil. You can always apply diluted Copaiba and Lavender on the outside of the jawline.

Make this DIY Muscle Balm:
Make a ‘Head On' Roller. In a 10 mL roller bottle, mix:
  • 15 drops each Copaiba, Peppermint, Cypress, Lavender, & Frankincense
  • Carrier of choice
Roll onto tense or sore areas as needed
Add 15 drops to 1 cup of magnesium flakes for a soothing soak.

  • Spray onto linens, pjs, stuffed animals, etc.
Try this Wind Down Foot Scrub as a treat for tired feet before bed.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp Vitamin E oil
  • 10 drops Copaiba
  • 5 drops Eucalyptus
Combine all ingredients in a metal or glass container, use in the shower to exfoliate & moisturize!

  • ½ cup organic arnica oil
  • 1 Tbsp shea butter
  • 2 Tbsp unrefined extra virgin coconut oil
  • 3-4 Tbsp beeswax pastilles

  • Essential oils to add for a masculine scent: Sandalwood, Vetiver, Idaho Blue Spruce
Step 1 - Using a double boiler, place several inches of water in the bottom and place a bowl or pan on top. Turn the heat to low-medium and add the olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil & beeswax and allow it to melt, stirring gently.
Step 2 - Remove the bowl from the double boiler. Add Vitamin E oil and essential oils.
Step 3 - Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes to cool but not harden, then pour into the small containers.
Make this Dry Skin Bath Soak! Adding oatmeal to the bath is helpful for more acute skin needs, especially for children.
Make this nourishing DIY Goat Milk Soap.

Hello! I'm Jennifer Meckel

I am very passionate about helping you achieve the best YOU that you can be!

A little about myself. I live in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State. I am married to a wonderful and supportive man named Sean since 2003 - all wonderful years. We have two smart and sassy daughters, Emmy is 10 and in 4th grade in the Mandarin Immersion program and Lilly is 6 and in kindergarten. I like to paper craft and make my own cards, I like to sew (though don’t have much time for that lately) and I just returned to belly dancing now that Lilly is getting bigger.

I’ve been using essential oils and infused products for since October 2015 and absolutely love this lifestyle and how it makes me and my family feel. I started my oily journey after sitting next to another mom at a play date.  We started talking about my infertility issues, and she suggested I try Young Living’s essential oils to support my hormones.  After a year of intentionally exercising, eating better, and using oils to support my hormones and emotions, I became pregnant with Lilly, right before my first time attending the International YL Convention in Salt Lake City in 2016. There is so much more to tell about this story, and I’m open and willing to share with you, if you are interested.

So, tell me more about yourself!  Tell me about the season of life you are in now. Tell me about your family.

In health, wellness, and abundance!
