DIY Shimmer Scrub & Body Oil - May 2022 | Jennifer Meckel
DIY Shimmer Scrub & Body Oil

The summer heat and sunshine often bring dry skin with them, but these two fun simple DIYs will combat the dryness while adding a bit of sparkle to your skin. Use them together in the summer or anytime you want a little shimmer in your day.

A body scrub is a great way to remove dry, dead skin, and follow it with body oil to lock in moisture. Body oil also enhances the appearance of arms and legs (or really any body part on which you apply it). These DIYs are a fun way to rehydrate your skin!

DIY Shimmer Body Scrub

Step 1 - Add sugars, coffee and mica/eyeshadow to a small bowl and combine. Mix in jojoba oil and essential oils and store in a glass jar.
Step 2 - When you're in the shower, scrub dry skin gently, then rinse. You'll be left with radiant skin and a soft, barely there sparkle!

Note: This scrub should keep for 2-3 months without the need for refrigeration. Be careful not to get any water in your scrub or it will go bad much sooner.

DIY Simmer Body Oil

  • Use a carrier oil, such as rosehip oil or avocado oil (you can also use jojoba oil or V-6 carrier oil, but the results will be more oily and need to dry longer on the skin.)
  • Savvy Minerals eyeshadow in a shimmery color:
    • Wanderlust - pearl-colored shimmer
    • Envy - brown shimmer
    • Residual - gold-tone shimmer
    • Note: mixing Residual or Wanderlust with Envy will give you a gold or pearl toned bronzing effect
Step 1 - Combine the ingredients in a small bowl, and stir until throughly combined. Use the back of a spoon to break up large chunks of eyeshadow and create a smooth oil. Continue adding eye shadow until you get a color you like.
Step 2 - Transfer to a lidded glass jar and keep for up to a year.
Step 3 - This DIY body oil may look dark in the jar, but when applied, the effect is very subtle. The eyeshadow tends to settle at the bottom of the oil, so shake gently before each use.
Step 4 - Customize this body oil for you! If you want a bronzing effect, use a shade of eyeshadow with bronze tones. If you just want shimmer without the bronze shade, use a white or pearl colored eyeshadow like Wanderlust or powder highlighter like Diamond Veil.

Hello! I'm Jennifer Meckel

I am very passionate about helping you achieve the best YOU that you can be!

A little about myself. I live in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State. I am married to a wonderful and supportive man named Sean since 2003 - all wonderful years. We have two smart and sassy daughters, Emmy is 10 and in 4th grade in the Mandarin Immersion program and Lilly is 6 and in kindergarten. I like to paper craft and make my own cards, I like to sew (though don’t have much time for that lately) and I just returned to belly dancing now that Lilly is getting bigger.

I’ve been using essential oils and infused products for since October 2015 and absolutely love this lifestyle and how it makes me and my family feel. I started my oily journey after sitting next to another mom at a play date.  We started talking about my infertility issues, and she suggested I try Young Living’s essential oils to support my hormones.  After a year of intentionally exercising, eating better, and using oils to support my hormones and emotions, I became pregnant with Lilly, right before my first time attending the International YL Convention in Salt Lake City in 2016. There is so much more to tell about this story, and I’m open and willing to share with you, if you are interested.

So, tell me more about yourself!  Tell me about the season of life you are in now. Tell me about your family.

In health, wellness, and abundance!
