free grade level flag

When I was looking for back to school ideas and supplies for Raley this year I kept seeing all these super cute grade level flags! It is super easy to get caught up in purchasing all the things, but I kept trying to remind myself "simplicity" and "budget friendly".

Since I have been working hard on decluttering and minimalizing the things in our home, I was trying to keep this in mind when looking for cute back to school ideas to make that first week of school a little special. While there are some adorable flags for purchase from WhimsicalDarlingsCo  and OliveAndEveCo, I decided to utilize my PowerPoint software and the extra ribbon/yarn I had laying around the house. You can grab your free grade level flags here.

I am normally not a do-it-yourselfer but like I said before, am trying to minimalize what we collect in our home. I filled up this black metal basket I had grabbed from the Target dollarspot a while back to hold some of Raley's school supplies. The pencil banner was something I totally "winged" with construction paper/ glitter scrapbook paper we had in our craft area. Raley picked out her backpack from Amazon and her stainless steel lunch kit from Bentgo since we have been working on reducing the plastics in our kitchen. The Who You Were Meant to Be book by Joanna Gaines and school themed jammies from Sweet Honey were just an added touch that I couldn't resist!
What are some fun ways you enjoy making back to school a little more special?
