What does anxiety do your body?

Anxiety can do a lot to your body.

It can make you feel physically ill, it can make it difficult to concentrate, and it can lead to depression. Anxiety can also cause your body to produce the stress hormone cortisol, which can have a number of negative health effects.

Cortisol is often referred to as the "stress hormone," and for good reason. This hormone is released in response to anxiety or stress, and it can have a profound effect on your physical and mental health. Cortisol levels that are too high can lead to anxiety, depression, and difficulty concentrating. In addition, cortisol can disrupt your sleep pattern, leading to fatigue and irritability. Long-term exposure to high levels of cortisol can also weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness. In short, cortisol is nothing to mess around with. If you're feeling stressed or anxious, it's important to find ways to relax and bring your cortisol levels down. Otherwise, you could be putting your health at risk.

In short, stress and anxiety are not good for your body OR your mental health. It is important to target ways to manage stress and improve sleep to keep cortisol low. It may be important to talk to a life coach to work on lifestyle changes to reduce stress or therapist to build skills for stress reduction or to help manage the thinking that often accompanies anxiety.

Along with managing stress, it is important to target nutrition and the gut-brain axis to help with stress resiliency and lowering cortisol levels.

Some basic nutritional supports that I recommend for mood and gut support are:

Is your home really non-toxic AND clean?

Is your home really non-toxic AND clean?
We all love the idea of non-toxic cleaners AND desire that clean sparkling home. But- do they work?

Conventional detergents are comprised of a concoction of fragrances, endocrine disruptors, neurotoxins and potent cancer-causing chemincals. These ingredients are being absorbed through your skin from your towels, sheets, clothes, etc. Yikes!

Switching out your laundry detergent is the best place to start ditching and switching for a cleaner option.

I use a product that is beloved by many, for good reason! But, what is it in that makes is a cleaning product? Especially a NON-Toxic one?
This product has Ingredients called surfactants work to remove grease, grime and water-soluble "ickies" that are on the surfaces in your home. It is free from SLS, formaldehyde, dyes, petrochemicals, phosphates, synthetic perfumes and optical brighteners! Whew! Did you even know those were a thing?

So, what IS this amazing product that cleans everything in your house AND is super affordable?

Thieves Household Cleaner.... It is one of my favorites! :) It is packed with environmentally-friendly plant based ingredients. It is a concentrated formula that makes it cost effective and versatile.

What It's For:
Any surface! As an all purpose cleaner, you can use it to clean floors, sinks, counters, toilets, glass, wood, leather, fabrics, and more! You can also feel good knowing that it is safe for everyone in your household, including pets!

Ingredients:
This concentrated cleaner contains the infamous THIEVES essential oil blend; clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary. This blend has powerful cleaning properties as well as smells AMAZING! It cleans and deodorizes and can be used anywhere with ease!

How to Use it:
Because this product is a concentrate, I can stretch a 32 ounce bottle into 96 ounces! Feels a touch magical! ;)

Here is a recipe that I use:
-1 32 oz Thieves Laundry Soap
-3 32 oz bottles
-8 cups of water
-2 cups washing soda
-6 Tbsp of salt
-3 Tbsp of vinegar
-3 caps of Thieves Household Cleaner

Bring the 8 cups of water to a simmer and add in the washing soda and salt. Stir until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Split the Thieves Laundry soap evenly between the 3 bottles. To each bottle, add 1 cap of Thieves Cleaner and 1 Tbsp of vinegar. Top off each bottle with the cooled soda/salt water and mix. The soap will thicken as it sets.

The Laundry Soap is another amazing option for Non-Toxic Living: It is very similar in ingredients and quality and versatility. You can grab your own HERE.
