The 7 F's Of Goal Setting!

We are almost a full week into the New Year! Can you believe it?! I love spending time looking at my goals, not just at the end of a year, to figure out what I am doing well and how I can improve. I mean, that is hopefully what we are all doing in this life, right?

I use the Oola Framework to help me sort through goals and set myself up for the areas that I will most benefit from.
The 7 F's are: Fitness, Finance, Family, Field (Career), Faith, Friends and Fun

We look at each area to see what parts are strong and what parts need a little (or a lot!) of work. Let's look at each of these a little deeper!

Fitness: This area encompasses the health and wellness in your life, body, mind, and soul! There are a lot of sub-topics in this F that can be broken down, from eating and exercise to mindset, emotions and more.

Finance: This area will include a little of everything; income, spending, debt, charitable giving, saving, investing. Ideally, we spend more than we make and we touch on each of these areas in finance in the right ways.

Family: The scope of all your relationships lies here. Identifying healthy family relationships, identifying toxic relationships and how to deal with them, establishing boundaries where needed, offering forgiveness or confronting issues are all a part of Family.

Field: Your career or profession falls here. Even as a stay at home mom, right? This is the area in which you are dedicating your time and work. Ideally, we are in a place that we can say we LOVE what we do, but unfortunately too many people wouldn't say that about the job they spend so much time doing. Sometimes this area is looking at ways to expand what you are doing, shifting your thinking or adjusting other areas of your life to make this area stronger and have a plan to have this be an area you can love.

Faith: Your belief system. It is your understanding of why you are here. What is your purpose? What has the Lord created you for? Sometimes that seems challenging if you are not a "churchy" person or maybe not a believer at all. However, this area still deserves some exploring. I would still encourage you to connect with people and have conversations or find ways to be plugged in to explore what your purpose truly is. You were created for more!

Friends: This includes your social circle. Are there positive or toxic relationships? Do these people support your best you or do they pull you down? Who do you give your ear to? Find the people who feed and stretch you in all the positive, life giving ways.

Fun: What is your passion in life? The everyday things you enjoy doing. Having fun EVERY day is important and having a "bucket list" of larger Fun items is key! I know this area has been a huge struggle for me, as a mom and Enneagram 9, as putting others first is just "what you do." But really, as we know, taking care of us is HUGE and having fun, however big or small, is a large part of that much needed SELF-CARE to keep us sane and happy!

A Few Tricks for Setting Goals:
1. Check your mindset! Are you limiting yourself by what others (or YOU) believe is possible? Sometimes we have that negative voice that takes over and then we end up questioning or downplaying what we know we really can do with self sabotaging beliefs!
2. Spend some time in prayer and reflection before you start looking at the 7 areas. It helps ground us and settle our emotions, preparing us to be ready to look at what we need to.
3. Use Oils. There are a number of oils that are great to use. Really anything that help you feel calm or focused. Peace and calming. Lavender. Clarity. Those are a few of favorite choices. (Contact me for a personalized AFT session by clicking HERE).
4. Grabbing your partner or friend and reviewing your goals. This task can be done together or, ideally, you each create your own and then you come together to discuss your goals and how you can support one another in your goals. It is great to have accountability in things that matter!
5. Journal. Sometimes grabbing an older journal to see what you have been desiring to do or a new one to see what is currently on your heart are both great ways to wrap your mind around the areas that you might need to work on. Especially when it comes to field and fun- those are the areas that people more often feel stuck and struggle to make those changes.

How to Be INTENTIONAL in the New Year.

Well.

Can you EVEN believe the end of this current year is upon us?!

And what a year it has been! With all it's ups and downs, twists and crazy turns, here we are. Getting ready to head into another year, filled with anticipation and honestly a little uncertainty about if the upcoming year will be much better than the present one.

Here is my plan. And I hope you will join me!

As an Oola Certified Life Coach, we talk about the 7 F's of Oola; Fitness, Finance, Field, Family, Faith, Friends and Fun. The goal is to focus on all 7 areas and look at what is balanced and what needs some strengthening. Creating goals in all 7 areas is ideal, but let's be honest- we often have some areas down and other areas need more attention!

I would recommend a goal in all 7 areas. As a matter of fact, I would strongly suggest THREE in all 7 areas. So, yes- 21 goals in all! Then I would recommend that you target your TOP 3-5 goals for the year. This focus might end up being primarily in one category or many.

How do you get started?

  1. Grab a notebook and your favorite pen
  2. Grab a coffee or tea or other tasty beverage
  3. Find a time and space that allows you AT LEAST 20 minutes of solid focus time
  4. If you are an oil user, grab Valor, Highest Potential, Frank or any other favorite oil that inspires you!
  5. Sit for a few minutes, using oils and praying and/or reflecting.
  6. DIVE IN!
One great tool you can use during your DIVE in time is HERE- a great paper version or HERE for a simple online tool. However, you will still need to go back to your notebook to DREAM and DEFINE your goals!!

Another great tool to continue on your plan is to create a VISION board. The vision board is a wonderful visual aid to remind us what our plan is! It can include both the shorter term and longer term goals to keep you on your plan! Vision boards can be updated often- I use a cork board with a fancy frame and pin my pictures on the board. Many will often use poster boards and will place these vision boards in an office or workspace that you will see it often!

I also LOVE having a Focus Word for each year. I will pray and comb over my goals to decide what word best sums up my needed focus for the upcoming year. It can be anything- Growth, Intention, Relationships, Debt-Free.... There are awesome word generators and ideas out "there" to choose from!

So what about me?

I have not completed my tasks for the new year just yet. But I do know that my target goals will be around my health. I am still on the path to recovery, and healing my body through food, exercise and increasing my water will most definitely be on my list! I will also be focused on being more consistent. With scheduling, posting, and my time- whether business, family or pleasure- as self care time and FUN are necessary for my healing as well!

I am learning how to show up more... be present with my people. My family, my follows and myself. I am trying to embrace my story that I have to tell.... the value that I provide. When I SHOW UP. My word will be around this concept, I am sure of it. I will be spending time with my oils and carving out a quiet space to pray and design my goals to make my 2021 intentional and fruitful, no matter what it throws out.

Trusting in God for my plan and that it will align for His glory in this upcoming year as I begin my own goal setting and reflecting.

Have you done your goals for the upcoming year? Tell me about them!
Do you pick a word for the year? If so, what is your word for 2021?

Meet Judith C. Labert

Hello! Welcome
Thanks so much for coming by!

I used to be a body builder and gym-nut- But the "perfect storm" of events ended up disrupting my physical, mental and emotional health, creating imbalanced hormones, weight gain and a loss of self. I have struggled with Chronic Fatigue and negative emotions, such as self-loathing. Through my own journey, coupled with my professional training, I have learned many tools like the power of using Conscious Language and have expanded my knowledge about how emotions and language impact the body, how our environment contributes to our health and the body's well being, and how mindset matters! As I have improved my health and regained my sense of self, I am now on a mission! In this world, with all the emotional (and physical!) pains, I commit myself to helping other's learn and grow to be better, healthier versions of themselves. I am always learning about how to live a plant based, non toxic, chemical free life so that we can live out best lives!!

As a professional, I am a licensed Mental Health/Art Therapist and Certified Life Coach. I work with a lot of folks who experience various degrees of trauma and anxiety. Personally....
I am still healing (it is an on-going journey of health) but am thriving more each day that passes. I am now an International Best Selling Author, as some of my story was published in a book collaboration that was published October 2021! I am a mom of two girls and a wife, a fitness lover and beach explorer. I enjoy a variety of music and love road trips. I wear Chacos and tank tops every day possible! I grew up in Wyoming but love living in the milder climate of Southern Oregon. I lam happy in warm weather and at the beach. I support my husband in his Art and Automotive Restoration business and in his hobby of restoring a '57 Oldsmobile. We are looking forward to taking it on a cross country trip in it when it is complete! We both cherish family and enjoy sharing new experiences together.

I am excited for you to join me on this journey!
