What is Mental Wellness?

Hey Hey, friends! 

You may have heard me speaking about "Mental Wellness" and might be wondering, what are you talking about? ;) 


Well, GREAT QUESTION! 

Let's start by looking at what MENTAL HEALTH is. 

Mental health is looked at too narrowly. It is how we think and respond. It encompasses emotional, psychological and social well-being. It looks at cognition, perception and behavior. It also looks at decision-making, interpersonal relationships, and how one manages stress. 

Now, let's explore MENTAL WELLNESS. 

Mental Wellness is a more encompassing term that looks at life balance. It is about activity and exercise, nutrition, sleep and physical health. It is about relationships and connections as well as feeling balanced AND feeling ready to meet challenges life may throw your way. So, we are looking at a more holistic and broad way of refining mental health! 

I have been an Integrative Mental Health Practitioner for a long time. There have always been links and connections to lifestyle and nutrition. Mental Wellness is a term that describes that holistic approach to looking at alllll the things! 

For example, did you know? The average American drinks 1.5 CUPS of water a day. The minimum that our body needs is 8.5. Kinda a big difference, right?! (Sadly, your coffee, tea and wine does not count toward your water intake each day).

As a practitioner, I can help you look at ways to increase your water intake and help you understand the ways that the dehydration may be impacting you- mentally and physically. 

As a Certified Mental Health Practitioner/Mental Wellness Coach, I help them look at lifestyle pieces, such as water intake, that might be impacting their physical and mental well-being. We develop plans as needed that may include supplements, health scans, targeting emotions (maybe through therapeutic means, oils, nutrition, movement), and problem solve areas that might be a barrier to betterment- financial, support, mindset, etc. You can basically say it is a detailed Health/Life Coach! 

So, how do you know if you need extra support and what you might benefit from? 

Sometimes you DON'T know. Sometimes you feel "fine" but you might know that you are just not happy. A bit "dull" or toned down with feelings. Or energy. It might feel "average" but if you think about it, it could probably be better. OR you might be really struggling with health- physical and/or mental health. You might feel extremely low energy and don't know what to do about it or anywhere in between. 

For starters, exploring options is always a good move. I mean, if you can feel better (even if you don't think you feel bad), WHY NOT?! Build up stress resiliency and target ways to keep yourself on a good track. You might only need some small tweaks or improvements. OR you might need a complete overhaul. It is very customized to you!

Are your Hormones JACKED??

It seems like it has been awhile but this couldn’t wait! If you know me even a little bit, you know I’m PASSIONATE about natural health, remedies, and hormones, in part because of how insanely critical they are, but also in part because of how misunderstood they are. Hormones don’t get the credit they deserve in our health! So many of the most common complaints and health issues are actually SYMPTOMS of hormonal issues. There are more... Can you believe it?! These are the most common ones! Fortunately there are ways we can help to normalize our hormones. Between dietary factors, lifestyle and supplements, you can help balance your hormones! 

In fact, I’ve been on my own mission to balance my hormones- hormones that I know have been out of balance for a LOOOOONG time! Thanks so much for coming by! 

I used to be a body builder and gym-nut- But the "perfect storm" of events ended up disrupting my physical, mental and emotional health, creating imbalanced hormones, weight gain and a loss of self. I have struggled with Chronic Fatigue and negative emotions, such as self-loathing. Through my own journey, coupled with my professional training, I have learned many tools like the power of using Conscious Language and have expanded my knowledge about how emotions and language impact the body, how our environment contributes to our health and the body's well being, and how mindset matters! As I have improved my health and regained my sense of self, I am now on a mission! In this world, with all the emotional (and physical!) pains, I commit myself to helping other's learn and grow to be better, healthier versions of themselves. I am always learning about how to live a plant based, non toxic, chemical free life so that we can live out best lives!!

 As a professional, I am a licensed Mental Health/Art Therapist and Certified Life Coach. I work with a lot of folks who experience various degrees of trauma and anxiety. I value the amazing tools that I have learned-and continue to learn- that are effective in helping the clients I serve! I am an art therapist and I use aroma and apply a variety of integrative approaches in a holistic model with all my clients. I am a Christian practitioner and believe in the power of faith and in the capabilities of the amazing bodies we live in!

 
In my therapy practice, I specialize in trauma and addiction, as well as being a Registered Art Therapist. I work with kids of all ages, including adults! I Love using various products and techniques to support my system within my own health and wellness journey and am passionate about incorporating a holistic approach with my clients to better support them in their journey.


As a holistic practitioner, a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider and Certified Mental Wellness Coach, I often suggest a variety of product recommendations for my friends, family and clients.  This education provides another tool to help in my supporting you to Live Your Best Life...

Personally....
I am still healing (it is an on-going journey of health) but am thriving more each day that passes. I am now an International Best Selling Author, as some of my story was published in a book collaboration that was published October 2021! I am a mom of two girls and a wife, a fitness lover and beach explorer. I enjoy a variety of music and love road trips. I wear Chacos and tank tops every day possible! I grew up in Wyoming but love living in the milder climate of Southern Oregon. I lam happy in warm weather and at the beach. I support my husband in his Art and Automotive Restoration business and in his hobby of restoring a '57 Oldsmobile. We are looking forward to taking it on a cross country trip in it when it is complete! We both cherish family and enjoy sharing new experiences together.
