Inexpensive Gift Idea for Christmas, Weddings and Parties
2021 has been a year like no other. Everybody knows that most people are craving some pampering but feel constricted by their budgets.

Want to know how to pamper your family and friends, and show them you care?

Unfortunately, most reed diffusers contain toxic ingredients like fragrance, dyes and isopropyl alcohol. Fragrance is usually artificial and a known endocrine disruptor. Isopropyl alcohol (or rubbing alcohol) is usually used as the base ingredient. Swallowing rubbing alcohol can cause vomiting and make a child extremely drowsy. Not what we want or need in our busy lives.

Why not repurpose empty essential oil bottles into wonderful, inexpensive presents for Christmas, weddings and other occasions?

Spare bottle + toothpicks + oils + you = happiness for a friend! 😊

Why not use your empty bottles to make mini reed diffusers?

These gifts can be used for travelling as they are portable. Great to give as multiple gifts for others at Christmas, weddings or parties. Also, these are fantastic because the ingredients are natural.  The essential oil bottle glass is toughened so that if dropped, they rarely break.

Reed diffuser
What you need:
  • Empty essential oil bottles, cleaned and with labels removed
  • 4-6 toothpicks per bottle
  • Essential oils of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon of Vodka or witch hazel
  • 1/3 cup purified water
Instructions:
(This makes approximately 20 x 5ml or 6 x 15ml gifts)
  1. Pour purified water into a glass bowl.
  2. Add vodka / witch hazel; this will support the essential oils to mix with the water.
  3. Add 20+ drops of essential oil and mix to combine.
  4. Pour the liquid into the empty bottles.
  5. Put 4-6 toothpicks in the solution.
Suggested fragrances:
  1. Reflection
10 drops Frankincense or Sacred Frankincense
5 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce
     5 drops Lemon

  2. Focus Clearly
    5 drops Rosemary
    10 drops Lemon
     5 drops Peppermint

  3. Refresh and Energise
    10 drops Thieves
    7 drops Lemongrass
    3 drops Black Pepper
Alternatively, use any of the blends that are already created by Young Living

Before gifting your treats, wrap the toothpicks separately and ensure that your lid is kept tightly in place (the plastic insert/orifice will do this). Please gently remind the receiver to keep the orifice and lid tightly in place; we don’t want any spillage in handbags while travelling!

Suggest that the reed diffuser be positioned in a spot that is out of reach of young hands, pets’ tails, etc. The diffusers should be checked on a weekly basis and their reeds rotated (i.e. moved/turned, flipped) so that the aroma is dispersed as intended.

After 8-10 weeks of use and enjoyment, the liquid should be discarded and replaced.

For added visual appeal, the glass can be painted to show your creative flare.
